Health Tip to Stay Healthy

What are the different symptoms of heart attack, cardiac arrest and stroke?

Many people put cardiac arrest, heart attack and a stroke in the same category. But all these conditions differ in symptoms, severity and background. Making a difference between these three health issues is really important, in order to know how to help a patient and how to prevent any of the conditions becoming more severe. To learn and educate yourselves more, read the full explanation of these conditions below:

1. Heart attack

This represents a circulation disorder. In case a person's blood flow is blocked or oxygen deprived, the blood does not get to the heart muscle and if left untreated immediately, could kill the organ. It is important to know that the heart is still working, when someone suffers a heart attack.

2. Cardiac arrest

This condition is known as an electrical disorder. When someone's electrical activity in the heart is disrupted, tachycardia happens and the blood flow immediately stops moving thought the body. When this happens, the heart stops working altogether.

3. Stroke

This is also known as a brain disorder. Strokes are divided into three types:

Ischemic stroke- when the artery carrying blood and oxygen to the brain is blockedtransient ischemic attack (tia)  also familiar as a mini stroke; it occurs when there is a short artery blood flow to the brainhemorrhagic stroke- this represents a ruptured artery inside the brain

Heart attack symptoms:

Here are the most common symptoms that can indicate heart attacks:

(angina) burden inside the chest, mistaken for indigestion. It repeats every few minutes. body pain- especially in the neck, back, abdomen, jaw, arms (particularly the left one) wheezing and shallow breathingcold sweatingdizziness and fatigue episodesanxietycoughingnausea

Treatment for these symptoms is usually via medication and incorporating a healthy diet.

Cardiac arrest symptoms:

These symptoms often occur minutes before cardiac arrest happens. Here they are:

Weakness black out fainting shallow breaths chest pain excessive palpitation

In some cases the person can also identify the following symptoms:

Sudden collapse shortage of breath weak or no pulse little or no responsiveness

Cardiac arrests are dangerous, because the symptoms occur rapidly and are usually lethal.

Stroke symptoms:

Nausea blurred speech face, arm or leg numbness or paralysis (especially on one side) headaches and vomiting mental disorientation, forgetfulness of names and places, distraction and loss of concentration impaired vision and double vision excessive sweating walking issues and dizziness transient ischaemic attack (tia)

I can not concentrate on my work. When ever I have something to do I am unable to focus like something is stopping me, I feel irritable and my heart beats loudly. At such times, I don't want to talk to anyone. It irritates me if people are talking to me or even in front of me. I feel completely exhausted even if I am well rested and all I am able to do is sleep again. Is there any kind of changes in my lifestyle or diet that can help?

Dear Lybrateuser, -From your symptoms it appears that you are stressed & have anxiety -some lifestyle changes will make you feel better, do not miss breakfast as it gives a boost to the metabolism & the energy to start your day & work, a low blood sugar leads to decreased concentration, irritability & lethargy, have a combination of a whole grain, like brown/multigrain bread & an egg or yogurt with fresh fruits, milk with oats/ cereals & fruits, eat meals on time, can even have a light snack in between meals like a sandwich, sprouts, a fruit, apple, wholegrain crackers, yogurt -have 7-8 glasses of water a day, good hydration keeps one alert & energized & also helps in removing toxins from the body -do regular exercise like walking, jogging for 20-30 min, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 10-15 min in the morning as these calm your mind, reduce stress & help you keep fit -sleep well for 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed, eat dinner at least 2-3 hrs before bedtime, a good sleep keeps you fresh the next day, do not nap for more than 30 min in the day -keep your mind busy by reading, listening to music, follow a hobby, socialize -get your blood hemogram, sugar, thyroid homone levels checked -plan your work a day earlier & keep follow timings properly so that there is no stress & mind is relaxed.

My dad is suffering with heart problem. Already he has suggested to use stunts and then bypass.
It has to be either stent or bypass, not both, if 1 vessel is blocked, stent is the answer, if more blocks, bypass surgery is solution that lasts for a long years, with advancement in technology, mortality rate is less than 1 %

My cholesterol level test are coming on higher side. What medication and precaution should I take?
Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Ecosprin gold-10 at night daily.

- Skip the aerated drinks as well as the caffeine. Opt for herbal tea instead.  - Have a glass of lukewarm water everyday.  - Include banana, watermelon and cucumber in your daily diet. Watermelon juice is great for curing acidity.  - Nariyal paani is known to soothe the system if you suffer from acidity.  - Drink a glass of milk - everyday.  - Have your last meal at least two to three hours before you hit the sack.  - Keeping long intervals between meals is another cause for acidity. Have small but regular meals.  - Try to avoid pickles, spicy chutneys, vinegar, etc.  - Boil some mint leaves in water and have a glass of this after meals.

• Try to keep your consumption of saturated fats to a minimum. • Aim to replace saturated fats, with moderate amounts of ‘good’ fats also known as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. • Grill, steam, boil and bake foods instead of frying and roasting. • Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods. • Enjoy healthy snacks such as fruit, nuts and seeds, olives etc. • Eat at least two portions of fish per week, one of which should be oily (Choose from salmon, mackerel, sardines, pilchards or herring). • Include foods enriched with plant stanols/sterols, which are clinically proven to lower ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. • Stay physically active. at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise on five or more days of the week. • Avoid smoking. • Try and manage your stress levels.  Foods to avoid  Limit saturated fats and oils, such as butter, palm oil, and coconut oil. Instead, use soft vegetable oils, such as olive or canola oil.  Avoid trans fats or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. These oils go through a process that makes them solid. They're found in some hard margarines, snack crackers, cookies, and chips.  Limit fatty meats such as corned beef, , ribs, steak, ground meat, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, and processed meats . Also limit organ meats like liver and kidney. Replace with skinless chicken or turkey, lean beef, pork, lamb, and fish. Try some meatless main dishes, like beans, peas, pasta, or rice.  Limit meat, poultry, and fish to no more than two servings, or 140 g, a day. Remember that a serving is about the size of a deck of playing cards.  Limit egg yolks.  Limit milk products that contain more than 1% milk fat. This includes cream, most cheeses, and nondairy coffee creamers or whipped topping (which often contain coconut or palm oils). Instead try fat-free or low-fat milk (0% to 1% fat) and low-fat cheeses.  Limit snack crackers, muffins, quick breads, croissants, and cakes made with saturated or hydrogenated fat, whole eggs, or whole milk. Try low-fat baked goods, and use any spreads or toppings lightly.  Instead of using butter or margarine on bread, try dipping it in olive oil.  Avoid fast foods like hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, and tacos. They are high in both total fat and saturated fat. When you eat out, choose broiled sandwiches or chicken without skin, salads with low-fat dressing, and foods that aren't fried. Ask the server to leave off the cheese and high-fat dressings like mayonnaise. Foods that decreasse CHOLESTROL 1. Oatmeal, oat bran and high-fiber foods Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad," cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, barley and prunes.Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Five to 10 grams or more of soluble fiber a day decreases your total and LDL cholesterol. Eating 1 1/2 cups of cooked oatmeal provides 6 grams of fiber. If you add fruit, such as bananas, you'll add about 4 more grams of fiber. To mix it up a little, try steel-cut oatmeal or cold cereal made with oatmeal or oat bran. 2. Fish and omega-3 fatty acids Eating fatty fish can be heart healthy because of its high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce your blood pressure and risk of developing blood clots. In people who have already had heart attacks, fish oil — or omega-3 fatty acids — reduces the risk of sudden death. I recommend eating at least two servings of fish a week. The highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids are in: • Mackerel • Lake trout • Herring • Sardines • Albacore tuna • Salmon • Halibut You should bake or grill the fish to avoid adding unhealthy fats. If you don't like fish, you can also get small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids from foods like ground flaxseed or canola oil. You can take an omega-3 or fish oil supplement to get some of the benefits, but you won't get other nutrients in fish, such as selenium. If you decide to take a supplement, just remember to watch your diet and eat lean meat or vegetables in place of fish. 3. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts Walnuts, almonds and other nuts can reduce blood cholesterol. Rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, walnuts also help keep blood vessels healthy. Eating about a handful (1.5 ounces, or 42.5 grams) a day of most nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachio nuts and walnuts, may reduce your risk of heart disease. Just make sure the nuts you eat aren't salted or coated with sugar. All nuts are high in calories, so a handful will do. To avoid eating too many nuts and gaining weight, replace foods high in saturated fat with nuts. For example, instead of using cheese, meat or croutons in your salad, add a handful of walnuts or almonds. Homoeopathic medicines Homoeopathic medicine ALLIUM SATIVA Q ( Dr Reckeweg) Drink 10 drop in 20 ml freh water twice daily CHOLESTRINUM 3X ( Dr Reckeweg) Chew 2 tabs twice daily THYROIDINUM 3X ( DR Reckeweg) Chew 2 tab twice daily KAPALBHATI pranayam daily for 20 minutes If weight is more then take precautions to control weight.
