From the last 3 months, I have notice that my belly fat is increasing so please help me to get rid of this belly fat.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
From the last 3 months, I have notice that my belly fat is increasing so please help me to get rid of this belly fat.
Hye. Thank you for your query. The fat you can see and grab, the kind that hangs over your waistline, is soft subcutaneous fat. Ninety percent of the fat on your body is subcutaneous fat. While you can accumulate this type of fat by eating more calories than your body burns, there's a genetic and hormonal connection as well. Too much fat is harmful for the body. A diet filled with refined carbs, such as white bread packaged foods and junk, snack foods, is associated with increased subcutaneous belly fat. Thirty minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise -- like a fast-paced walk or low-impact aerobics -- most days of the week helps you lose the belly flab. Also, don't forget strength-training. You can't spot reduce, but you can tone and tighten your belly. While crunches and planks can help the abdominal area, include exercises that work all your major muscles -- arms, back, shoulders, glutes and legs is import for balance. Making the right food choices can also help you lose subcutaneous fat. Limit your intake of the refined carbs linked to belly fat. So, skip the white bread, packaged cereals, sugary cereals, biscuits, sweets and soda, and, instead, eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Enjoy healthy sources of protein such as poultry, lean meats, fish, eggs, soy, beans, low-fat dairy, and fats such as clarified butter or ghee, vegetable oil, nuts and seeds. Eating healthy foods is critical to reduce belly fats.

(1)what is the safe difference between systolic and dystolic pressure (2) systolic pressure increase or dystolic pressure increase which is more important and dangerous (3) can there be difference in the bp measured in right hand and left hand. (4) are the readings of electronic bp measuring instruments such as omron with hand cuff are reliable.(5) what is the optimum time to measure bp at home regularly with omron and in which position. (6) is it true that once tablets are being taken for bp control it cannot be stopped for life time.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
1. Systolic bp is the presure that blood exerts on walls of arteries during heart contractions. Its normal range is 120-139 mm of hg. Diastolic bp is the pressure of blood on walls of arteries when the heart is at rest between contractions. Its normal range is 80-89 mm of hg. So the safe difference between both is apprx. 30-40 mm of hg 2. Although both r important but in topical countries like india systolic bpis more important as its increase indicates hypertension and its dangerous as most of the cases of high bp remains undetected due to poor knowledge of regular health chk ups nd ignorance in under developed countries like ours. 3. There is almost zero difference of bp in both arms. If there is a difference then it can be suggestive of some arterial disease. 4. According to me these imported gadgets r made according to western climate standards and there iss a possibility that readingss may vary in hot countries like ours. 5. If you r hper or hypotensive then a regular chk up of bp is required every week. If normal then check up after 3-4 months is required. 6 it depends. Firstly u must be having a strong knowledge of your problem, its limitations, nd what all u can do to overcome it, only then u can get rid of the medicine. Actually once hypertension is detected we indians start taking medicines on aregular basis without future consultations nd this is the start of problem. So be determined to avoid medicine as much as u can but for that proper knowledge is required. Medicine is a must when u have a problem but dont be a slave of these medicines but take their help timebeingly as our body has a power of self healing. Actually we r weak and underestimate ourselves.

You have 9 months pregnancy right, so you will first deliver this baby, and then think of a suitable method for contraception, in my opinion you should get am IUCD inserted so as to have a non harmonal device with no side effects, but only after you have settled down with post delivery bleeding etc.

Hi its been noticed that recently I have been developed a slight bald on the top of my crown and my age is still 25 years. I am getting very disappointed as I may become a victim for male patterb hair loss. As suggested by my barbor shop guy, I have taken lo'real serie expert treatment last week and also I dont think its a genetical problem as my dad started losing hair at the age of 50+. Kindly suggest on the same.

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc
Homeopath, Gurgaon
Hair loss is caused by one of three reasons: genetic persuations; after sickness or a great shock and stress, or un-nutritious diet. And of course, old age is final. To allay premature baldness your diet must include fresh fruits and a full serving of salads: cucumber, tomato, carrot, radish, onion slices or spring onion, raw cauliflower, cabbage leaf, etc. All this is essential. Cut out any junk food and aerated drinks totally. Take scalp rejuvenating remedies and vitamins.

I smokes 2-3 times in a day What I can do to prevent affection of smoking because I can not quit direct!

Dear Lybrate user. There are no miraculous exercises or medicines which can be used against the ill effects of smoking. Please quit smoking. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. Nicotine chewing gums too help as an alternative for cigarettes. But still you will need will power. You may consult a physician or deaddiction therapist or a rehabilitation facility for further advice. You can also opt for online deaddiction therapy. Take care.

Hello. Premature ejaculation is uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after sexual penetration. It happens with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes. It may result in unsatisfactory sex for both partners. Common treatment options for premature ejaculation include behavioral techniques, topical anesthetics, medications and counseling. Keep in mind that it might take time to find the treatment or combination of treatments that will work for you. Behavioral treatment plus drug therapy might be the most effective course. Thanks.

10 Study Tips to Improve Your Learning Study Tip 1: Underlining Underlining is one of the simplest and best known study tips. It’s easy to highlight the most significant parts of what you’re reading. One key sentence per paragraph and a few important phrases here and there. You can only retain a certain amount so it’s best to retain the most important information. Study Tip 2: Make Your Own Study Notes Taking Notes is one of the most widespread study skills out there. Essentially the aim of note-taking is to summarise lectures or articles in your own words so you can easily remember the ideas. Study Tip 3: Mind Mapping A good Mind Map can save you many hours of study and further consolidate your knowledge for your exams. Mind Maps are an extremely versatile tools. They can be used for brainstorming, outlining essays or study topics and for general exam preparation. ExamTime offers the ability to create Mind Maps quickly and easily which makes them the ideal tool when it comes to exams. Study Tip 4: Flashcards Using Flashcards is a particularly effective method of learning when trying to assimilate different facts, dates, formulas or vocabulary. Subjects such as History, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Geography or any language are made much easier if you incorporate Flashcards in to your study. Study Tip 5: Case Studies Sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the implications of some theories. This is where studying case studies can be a big help. Case studies can help you visualise a theory and place it in a more familiar and realistic context. This is especially useful in business or law subjects. Study Tip 6: Quizzes are an excellent way to review study notes in the weeks and days before an exam. Quizzes can show where your strengths and weaknesses are, so it allows you to focus your efforts more precisely. Moreover, if you share your Study Quiz with your classmates and test each other as much as possible you can discover even more details and areas you may have overlooked. So before any exam, make sure you create and share a bunch of different Quizzes with your Friends. Study Tip 7: Brainstorming This is another study technique that is ideal for studying with friends and/or classmates. Brainstorming is a great way to expand every possible idea out of any topic. Just get a bunch of friends together and shoot the breeze, there are no wrong answers when brainstorming – just talk and capture the ideas, you can review afterward. Study Tip 8: Mnemonic Rules Mnemonics are especially useful when memorising lists and sets. Mnemonics rules basically work by associating certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us. There are many different ways to make mnemonics and these can be individual to the person. Study Tip 9: Organising Your Study One of the most effective study skills is also one of the most often overlooked; this is organising your study. Creating a study timetable gives you goals and a time in which to achieve them. Having a study timetable as you study is greatly motivational. ExamTime has a free Study Planner tool which makes organising your study extremely easy. Study Tip 10: Drawing Many people find it easier to recall images rather than text, that is why they are better able to memorise concepts if they associate them with pictures or drawings. That is why ExamTime’s tools allow you to add images. ExamTime’s tools are geared towards helping different types of learners as visual learning is often overlooked in classrooms, which are more text or aural based.
