Hello- Knee pain and sound / crepts from knee suggest of inadequate quantity of synovial fluid in knee joint. Follow these tips- 1. Maintain healthy weight: 2. Cold and heat therapy: Acute pain in the knee can be relieved with cold therapy. Applying ice to the affected area not only reduced pain but also minimises swelling. For chronic pain, heat therapy would work better and help ease stiffness. But you need to discuss the frequency and intensity of these therapies with your doctor or physiotherapist. 3. Hi, A common cause of ankle pain is a sprain, but a lot of other causes can lead to ankle pain. Consult a orthopedician or physiotherapist to have an accurate diagnosis. Advice: *Do Hot or cold or contrast bath: alternating cold and hot water bath with a ratio of 1: 2 mins (Like 2 min hot and one min cold water). * Avoid standing for long hours and walking bare foot. * Lose weight if you are overweight. •Do stretching of the muscles that support the ankle like calf muscle stretch. *Avoid sports and activities requiring high impact ground landing or stress foot like lawn tennis or basket ball or football specially without proper conditioning. *Make sure that shoes fit you properly. *Work on strengthening, balance and do agility exercises under physiotherapist supervision. Foot exercises. Do the following exercises barefoot: •1. First write digits 1 to 10 using your toes raised up in the air. •2. Sit on a chair, raise your toes and curl them •3. Pick up a small piece of cloth off the floor using your toes. •4. Still in a sitting position, point your toes and circle your ankles in a slow counter and clockwise motion. •5. Stand up from the sitting position and go on tip toe for 5 seconds.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned persistent back pains since 10 years which is a long time. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back, mri ls spine and few blood tests for evaluation. My MRI LS Spine done on 25-may-2016 final impression says-"Grade 1 spondylolisthesis of L4 over L5 which along with degenerated and posteriorly herniated intervening L4-L5 IV disc, causing indentation of thecal sac with encroachment upon bilateral lateral recesses, both neural foramina and the bilateral exiting nerve roots (Right >Left)" Few days back I got lower back pain during playing cricket, though in initial days the pain is not that much and after few days rest I join back office, but after 5 days of my office my back is again start pain and now I am not able to stand straight, my back is tilt towards left over my naval point, Now my question is - what kind of bed rest should I prefer though doctor suggested me complete bed rest for three weeks and 4 mg of steroids thrice a day and pain killer with Caltok M2, I usually stands in morning for loo and bath and during day for food. From last 5 days of medication last 2 days I feel no pain in morning but my posture problem is as it was, but as day progresses pain develop again. Is it because of my moment or what? please help me to get early relief as I can't take more leave then three weeks.

Yesterday I felt pain in the bottom right of my ribs suddenly. It seem end as if it pauses for 3-4 seconds and resumes again. What according to you all might be the reason for it? It hurts a lot! Is it a muscle pain because of abrupt posture?

It could be muscular, could be connected with ileum, could radiate from calculus (least chance) according to position, liver (but there should be tenderness). I would suggest ajwain boiled in water and roasted hing and black salt mixed may be taken with warm water for immediate relief before you head for clinic on repeated episodes.

Hi. Back pain may be due to various reasons. If it is only due to over strain or weakness of muscles. Then spinal extension exercises and core stabilisation exercises will work good. Its better to consult a physiotherapist before going for exercises. Good luck.

Hello. We can't reverse the established pathology back, but we can control the process in the stage it is so that it wouldn't grow further. Apply Bakson’s Rheum Aid oil gently (2-3 times a day) and take orally Bakson’s Rheum-Aid syrup/ 1 tablespoon thrice daily. Also, increase your dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15 min. 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.

Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.
