Hello lybrate-user start using medicated antifungal shampoos to control your dandruff. Hair fall may or may not be related to the same. However check your basic iron and haemoglobin values with or without thyroid function if you feel the fall is severe (more than 150 hairs/day). Also make sure to follow a healthy diet to combat this issue. Thanks and have a good day.

My question is related to Dermatology. I have oily skin and I am having severe acne and acne scars on my face. I have consulted a doctor few weeks back and she prescribed to use aziderm (azealic acid) ointment and azithromycin tablet. Although, I am using it but don't see much improvement, infact now I can see many new acnes coming up. My doctor has suggested to go for chemical peeling in 5 sittings but with no assurance of permanent cure. Since chemical peeling is costly, I would like to know if there is alternative procedure or any permanent cure for acne? Can I give a try to Retino AC Gel (Tretinoin and Clindamycin), does it gives good result in severe acne? OR I should go for chemical peeling?

My question is related to Dermatology. I have oily skin and I am having severe acne and acne scars on my face.
I have...
Yes. Ideally oral treatment with isotretinoin (avoided if you are planning for pregnancy) should be taken. Peeling is always an add on never the base drug and doctor is treating with approach one. You can ask her to change the approach as peeling seems expensive to you. Use retino A micro gel 0.04% local application at night (thin film all over face in a rice grain sized quantity except. Around eyes) Use Brevoxyl creamy wash in morning followed by Clindac A lotion on face. No hair oil. Continue azithro. And continue azelaic acid on pimple and pimple marks 2 hours after retino at night. Else ask your doc to change the approach.

The cause for your sleepiness needs evaluation. Could be due to some antihistamine tablet if you have been prescribed for your allergies. Could be lack of sleep in night due to your schedule. Moda alert is not to be taken for this reason. Kindly consult the doctor who is treating your asthma.

For how long should I continue using Xerina lotion to treat acne scars and discoloration? Thanks.

Hello. The scars and the pigmentation on the face are treatable. It's better to get it examined first so that we can identify the type of skin, scars and if they are hyper pigmented, atrophic or ice pick scars. The treatment are of various kind like ranging from simple scrubs and mild peels for the face to the major interventions such as laser therapy, dermaroller, subcision or peeling. These depend on the type of the scars and which kind you opt for. You can consult me online or text me with pictures for further details.

Acne can be a painful and embarrassing skin condition, and the scars it leaves behind are an unwelcome reminder of that. A dermatologist can help remove raised or pitted scars. While hyper-pigmented blemishes may fade after several months, you can help speed up the process. Realistically, you will not be able to make acne scars disappear in a single night, but the remedies, products, treatments, and skincare tips will certainly produce a noticeable difference over time. Apply fresh lemon juice. Lemon juice has natural skin bleaching properties, and can help to effectively lighten your acne scars. Simply combine equal parts lemon juice and water and apply this liquid directly onto your scars, avoiding the surrounding skin. Wash off the lemon juice after 15 to 25 minutes or you could put the lemon juice on overnight as a mask. Use honey. Honey is a great natural solution for clearing up pimples and reducing the red marks they leave behind. This is because honey contains antibacterial properties and helps to soothe the skin and reduce inflammation. Raw or manuka honey is the most effective. It can be dabbed directly onto the scarred area, using a q-tip. Experiment with aloe vera. The sap of the aloe vera plant is a soothing natural substance which can be used to relieve many ailments, from burns to wounds to acne scars. Aloe vera helps to rejuvenate and moisturize the skin, encouraging acne scars to fade. It is possible to buy aloe vera products in the drugstore, but the best thing to do is buy an aloe vera plant and use the sap from a broken leaf. This gel-like sap can be applied directly on the scarring, and there is no need to wash off. Use an ice cube. Ice is an extremely simple home remedy which can help to fade acne scars by soothing the inflamed skin and reducing redness. To use, just wrap an ice cube in a clean cloth or piece of paper towel and hold it against the scarred skin for a minute or two, til the area starts to feel numb. Sometimes it can burn. For medication consult online in private.

Please consult in the OPD with good physician or adut. Cardiologist. Never a medicine must be added or switched without proper clinical exam. Your BP is responding but HR high for age. It should have gone down. You might be having few extra beats.

Red Penis Warning Signs: Recognizing Cellulitis

Red Penis Warning Signs: Recognizing Cellulitis

Red Penis Warning Signs: Recognizing Cellulitis

In many instances, a red penis is a good thing. For instance, when the blood flows into the penis to create a desired engorgement, the resulting red penis enables a man to enjoy sex. But sometimes a red penis is a sign of something not being exactly right; often, it can be a sign of inflammation. One such cause of an inflamed red penis is cellulitis, which needs to be dealt with promptly.

What is cellulitis?

The Mayo clinic states that cellulitis is "a common, potentially serious bacterial skin infection. The affected skin appears swollen and red and is typically painful and warm to the touch." Although it is most often found on the legs, it can occur anywhere on the body, including the penis.

Cellulitis occurs when specific bacteria invade the body through a crack, tear or other wound in the skin. If the penis has a cut or open wound - or even just excessively dry and flaky skin - and becomes exposed to the bacteria, cellulitis may result. The most common bacteria to cause cellulitis are streptococcus and staphylococcus.

When the bacteria go to work on the affected tissue, a red, dry, swollen rash results. As long as the bacteria stay near the surface, the infection may not be serious. But sometimes, the bacteria make their way to the bloodstream, and that can create more significant problems.

Symptoms and treatment

Redness and swelling in the infected area is a common symptom, as is tenderness and pain. The skin may feel warm, and there may be spots or blisters in some cases. Fever and fatigue may occur in some instance, signaling a more serious case. Other signs of more severe cellulitis are nausea and vomiting, numbness and increased pain.

Although mild cases of cellulitis may respond to self-care (over-the-counter pain relievers, rest), it's still a good idea to consult with a doctor.

Other treatment options include the use of antibiotics, usually oral. In very rare cases, surgery may be suggested - but again, this is a very rare option.

Prevention

Obviously, it's better to prevent cellulitis of the penis than it is to treat it. There are several preventive measures a person can take.

- Check the penis for signs of cuts or tears. If there are any, wash them with soap and water and keep an eye on them for any signs of infection.

- Check for dry penis skin. Dry penis skin can cause cracks through which bacteria can enter, so keeping penis skin properly hydrated is crucial.

- Give it a rest. If the penis exhibits signs of cracked skin or has cuts, tears or wounds, refrain from engaging in sexual activity until the issues are healed. This includes both penetrative sexual activity and oral sex. Men who do engage should be sure to wear a condom to decrease the chances of bacteria entering the open skin areas.

- Avoid activities that can damage the penis skin. If aggressive, rough sexual activities produce tears or wounds in the penis, it may be wise to tone things down a little.

Cellulitis is one of the more alarming causes of a red penis, but far from the only one: allergic reactions, minor infections and other causes can also cause redness. In general, regular application of a top notch penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) can help prevent a red penis by maintaining penis health at a higher level. The best cremes to look for will include among their ingredients both a high-end emollient (such as shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E). This combination helps create a moisture shield to encourage consistent hydration of the penis skin and prevent dryness and chapping. The crème should also include alpha lipoic acid, a powerful antioxidant that plays a big role in preventing oxidative stress damage to delicate penis skin.
