Fibromyalgia - Ayurvedic Ways That Can Help Resolve It!

Fibromyalgia is a medical condition that is known to affect the soft tissues and muscles of the body. As a result, there is a muscular pain and fatigue experienced throughout the body, often interfering with daily activities of the affected individual. Though the condition can affect both men and women, females are more prone to Fibromyalgia than their male counterparts.

The pain (can be acute or chronic) associated with fibromyalgia is often an outcome of a condition whereby the receptors in the brain that perceive the pain signal undergoes modification, becoming oversensitive to the pain stimuli.

The body has 18 tender points spread throughout the body. These tender points are highly sensitive and can be quite painful when pressed. Research suggests that individuals with fibromyalgia experience pain in at least 11 of these pressure points when pressed (often used in the diagnosis of fibromyalgia).

Causes of Fibromyalgia
While it may be difficult to decipher the exact trigger that results in Fibromyalgia, the condition may be an outcome of

  1. Physical or emotional trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression
  2. Genetic predisposition. The incidence of fibromyalgia is higher in individuals with a family history of the condition
  3. Indulging in too much of a sedentary lifestyle (lack of physical activities and exercise) can play a pivotal role in triggering fibromyalgia
  4. Certain health conditions and infections such as Arthritis can also give to fibromyalgia


Symptoms
While muscular and joint weakness and pain are synonymous to fibromyalgia, a person may also complain of

  1. Sleeping disorders
  2. There is a weakness, headache (often associated with a migraine), and fatigue (in spite of having a sound sleep and proper rest)
  3. A person may experience Fibro Fog (a condition resulting from fibromyalgia whereby a person finds it difficult to memorize or concentrate on anything)
  4. There may be morning stiffness along with numbness or a tingling sensation in the legs, hands, feet
  5. Some women with fibromyalgia may experience menstrual cramps which are often painful
  6. One may also suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Temporomandibular joint disorders


Treating Fibromyalgia with Ayurveda
According to Ayurveda, Fibromyalgia is an outcome of the vitiation of all the three doshas - Vata, Kapha, Pitta. This affects the digestion process (it weakens or slows down) with the buildup of toxins or Ama in the body. Thus, for an effective treatment, the balance between the three doshas should be restored along with the elimination of the toxins out of the body (detoxification).

  1. The treatment often involves a concoction of herbal and Ayurvedic oil massages and oil baths, lifestyle changes, dietary modifications, meditation and yogas or pranayamas
  2. Avoid non-vegetarian (can have lean meat though), spicy and greasy foods. Instead, supplement the diet with fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy or good fats (poly or monounsaturated fats), whole grains
  3. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water daily
  4. Follow a healthy sleep routine. Mediation and Yoga will act as a catalyst, enhancing the overall treatment
  5. Drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco or drug abuse should be avoided
  6. A Warm Ayurvedic oil application with gentle pressure is very effective in this if done on regular basis
  7. Stay happy and stress-free

Be relaxed, sometimes it's due to low energy in body. So take high protein diet, milk, juice, fruit. And take proper rest. Masturbation are harmful for our health in physiologically erectile dysfunction, semen loss, weakness, body ache in case of excessive masturbation.

To reduce belly fat you need to start up your day with a glass of lukewarm water. Increase your protein intake as well Include fibre in your diet, take good amount of green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Avoid eating junk food, refined cereals, packages, processes and fried food. Avoid all kind of sugary drinks included fruit juices. Indulge yourself in physical activities like yoga, running, brisk walking etc.

Hi. This sexual problem is mostly caused by diseases like Diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, hormaonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger any other underlying diseases, etc. Take diet rich in protein like non-veg. Eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. Walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9 hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smooking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! With regular medicines you will be able to enjoy your sexual activity.

Your Diet should be a balanced one comprising of carbs, protein,fat, vitamins,minerals. There should be a good amount of water intake also. Apart from this regular exercise of half an hour to one hour should be included and in morning do breathing practices (Pranayam). Besides this try to find out reason of your low HB level it can be due to iron deficiency or can be of some other kind too. So better know the exact cause and later switch on to medication and dietary modifications.

I am on Thyronorm 12. 5 mcg for 4 years. Recently when the TSH was not in range (6.67) so I increased the dose to 25 mcg. After 90 days the TSH is <0.01uIU/ml and T4 is 13. 5ug/dl. Should I stop taking Thyronorm now?

Yes you can stop for a month, then check tsh if it is more than 6 then start with 12. 5 mcg then after a month check tsh, then decide.

• Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. • Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. For weight gain, no need to take any kind of medicine you should focus on your dietary pattern, you have to be patient and practice it correctly. You should take every 2 hourly meal and fix your meal timing and include good amount of nuts and High Proteins Along With Calories like pulses, sprouts, and dairy products that rich sources of proteins can take fruit shakes (Like banana, mango) + 5-6 almonds and 1-2 walnuts. Go for exercise. Include more protein rich food in your diet as well as carbohydrate intake. You should take frequent meal, include combination of dry fruits, seeds in your diet.

For gaining weight, you have to be patient and practice it correctly. You should take every 2 hourly meal and fix your meal timing and don't take heavy meals. Firstly try to improve your digestion process if you are taking normal diet and you are facing the problem then you should go for liver function test. In diet include good amount of nuts and High Proteins Along With Calories Like Eggs, lean meat, fish, skinless chicken, pulses, sprouts, and dairy products that rich sources of proteins. Taking proteins depend upon your exercise level. Just by taking whey, one does not gain muscles. Also if you are a beginner, you should focus on basics. After one has achieved a basic level of fitness, they should start supplements to reach next level.
