“Health Is Wealth”, as the slogan says, we should realize that our health is more important than any other thing in our life. Our health is priceless.
If we are healthy, then automatically all other things will get into their proper places.
But health, the most important thing in our life is ignored by most of the people in today’s world. According to the slogan, only if we are healthy, we can earn more money.
A Healthy Body leads to Healthy Skin.
Looks are considered as an important part of a person’s personality. A person initially attracts others towards oneself by his/her looks.
In the modern world, the slogan for the young generation may go something like this, “Looks Is Wealth.”
For the young generation, good looks are all they need, even if they have to sacrifice their health for it, they will willingly do it. The young generation is not at all health conscious.
People who say they are health conscious are actually the person who is beautiful and looks conscious.
Young people are so fashion conscious that they compromise with their health and go on a diet.
They want to have zero sizes like television-stars and models and to achieve that they can go to any level without thinking how badly it will affect their health.
Our looks and health are inter-dependent on each other. Clear, bright skin is the hallmark of health and wellness that is why it is important to maintain good health, for our looks to seem attractive.
Health indirectly affects our looks in many ways. For example, lack of sufficient water causes the development of pimples and acne on our face.
It is a dream of everyone to be the owner of healthy, glowing and radiant skin. But, we need to understand that, the glowing of skin begins from inside the body.
A healthy diet is a good skin regimen. In fact, if we don’t have proper healthy food or don’t drink lots of water, then our skin will become dull, patchy and tanned.
Practicing good hygiene, including regularly washing skin areas with neutral cleansers, reduces the number of dead skin cells and other contaminants that contribute to the birth of pimples.
Having healthy food, drinking loads of water, eating fruits and leafy vegetables will make our skin glow. We should avoid processed food and foods that are high in sugar.

Maintaining a healthy balance in life is very crucial to build the immunity system and make the body fit to fight any disease. A healthy balance not only means physical fitness but also mental health. People often want to make healthy choices but fail to do so. But guess what, it is not that difficult after all.
Here are a few tips to keep your body and mind fit:-
- While this may be the most difficult decision that a person would have to make but avoiding junk food is very necessary for the body to feel fit. Go for fresh fruits, vegetable, grains instead of processed food.
- This goes without saying that exercise plays a very important role to keep the body fit. Even simple exercises like running, jogging or even swimming can lead to a healthy life. Indulge in yoga and meditation to keep the stress away.
- It cannot be stress more than one’s sleep cycle has to be well maintained as well. The body needs to relax and the best way to do it is by sleeping. 7 to 8 hours of sleep in a day is optimum for a healthy feeling body. Lack of sleep makes a person irritated, harms the insulin resistance, reduces physical and mental performances and disturbs the hormonal level in the body.
- Don’t fear coffee as its high anti-oxidant properties keep you away from many diseases. Symptoms of Type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer can be barred with caffeine-rich coffee. Liquids, in general, should be a part of your diet as one needs to keep the body hydrated.
- Avoid smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol. This leads to liver damage and changes of cancer in the lungs, the mouth becomes more prominent when you are smoking too many cigarettes.
- Say goodbye to refined carbohydrates and make you diet fiber, protein, vitamin-rich. Have fish, eggs vegetables like avocado, carrots, spinach; fruits like berries, oranges, pomegranates to maintain a healthy balance in life.
- Make use of Indian spices as they have anti-inflammatory and antioxidants effects that help fight germs. Spices and herbs like turmeric, ginger, garlic have various health benefits.
- Regulate your meal timings. One must start a day with heavy breakfast followed by five other meals including a light lunch and a lighter dinner. Don’t forget to have a glass of water after and before every meal.
- Keep food items like nuts, dry fruits near you and hog n them whenever you feel hungry between the main meals.

Portion control. Take food according to what fits on your plate, thali style. Don't take second helpings.
Balance is always key. Balance your meat or fish with lots of vegetables, soup/curries, and a limited amount of grains.
Add local vegetable. Look at introducing millets such as Jowar, Bajara and ragi in your diet through Rotis, dosas, bread or even pasta. As well as unpolished rice varieties such as the red rice of Kerala/ Mangalore / Goa and the black rice of the northeast. They have a lower gi and fill you up with smaller portions.
Healthy sauce.- hung/thick card dip. Strain out curd overnight, and then add different herbs/spices/ nuts to it make a variety of dips which you can add to sandwiches, salads or have as a side with grills. You will not miss cheese/butter/ mayonnaise anymore.
Think smart. Use cookware such as airfry, grill pans, ovens, cast iron skillet pans, granite pans to reduce the oil used in cooking.
Abdomen pain or abdominal pain is usually experienced in the area between the chest and the stomach. This kind of pain usually comes as a dull cramp that also produces shooting stabs of pains intermittently, or it may be a localised pain in one side of the stomach. This may also be accompanied by inflammation, and other diseases related to organs like intestines, kidneys, pancreas, liver, spleen and stomach.
So what are the causes of stomach or abdomen pain? Read on to find out:
- Food Poisoning: Food poisoning can be caused due to dirty water or contaminated food. This can give rise to various infections as well as conditions like traveller's diarrhoea or loose motions.
- Gastro Intestinal Conditions: GERD or gastroesophaegal reflux disease and gastroenteritis, among various others can also lead to abdomen pain as a symptom along with severe acidity and nausea. Irritable bowel syndrome is another major ailment which can leave you with persistent abdominal pain.
- Generalised Pain: This kind of pain occurs in the overall area all around the stomach and may point at the presence of conditions like Crohn's Disease, a traumatic injury, appendicitis, flu, or even a urinary tract infection. Further, when the gas settles and tightens the stomach due to the inability to pass a motion on a normal, regular basis, this may be termed as constipation. This also leads to abdomen pain.
- Localised Lower Abdomen Pain: Pain that is found specifically in the lower area of the abdomen can be caused due to appendicitis, obstruction or blockage in the intestine or colon, and other ailments. This pain can also be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
- Localised Upper Abdomen Pain: This kind of pain may emanate due to the presence of gallstones, liver inflammation or hepatitis, pneumonia, or even in the middle of a heart attack.
- Localised Centre Abdomen Pain: Pain in the centre part of the stomach or abdomen may be caused due to gastroenteritis, an injury or even the accumulation of waste products in the body, otherwise known as uraemia.
- Abdomen Pain and Women: For women, such localised pain may be caused due to pelvic inflammatory disease, urinary tract infection, endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, menstrual cramps which are also called dysmenorrhoea, and fibroids. Miscarriages can also cause pain in this part of the abdomen, for women.
- Renal Stones: Renal stones or stone in kidney is one of the most common cause of abdomen pain. The pain caused by kidney stone is such that it can make a patient roll in bed and this pain may radiate to toward the groin as well.
Persistent pain and nausea that come with vomiting and finally give rise to blood in the vomit or stool should be checked by the doctor immediately, so as to rule out any serious ailment. Imaging tests, ultrasound and an X-Ray can help in diagnosis.

Be sure to warm up before and cool down after exercising. Avoid hilly terrain and high-impact activities like running and jumping, as these can worsen knee pain.
- Give physical therapy a try: Physical and occupational therapy often are helpful for people with knee pain. A physical therapist can help design an exercise program that fits your individual ability level and teach you proper techniques to spare your joints. Occupational therapy can teach you how to reduce strain on your knees in your daily activities.
- Get enough rest and relaxation: Sure, physical activity is important, but rest and relaxation can go a long way to promote good health - and reduce pain. Achieve a healthy balance in your life by learning stress-relief techniques like deep breathing and meditation.
- Make sure you're getting enough sleep: No question-arthritis pain can interfere with a good night's sleep. However, proper sleep is necessary for overall health, so if you are having trouble sleeping, talk to your doctor. Proper pain management can help break the cycle to help you slumber soundly.
- Use Ice and/or Heat: For many people with arthritis pain, ice can help relieve pain and swelling and heat can help ease stiffness. Ask your doctor about how to safely use an ice pack and/or a warm towel or heating pad. A hot shower in the morning or warm bath before bed at night also may be helpful.
- Apply a topical pain reliever: A number of over-the-counter and prescription creams, gels, sprays and patches are available to help relieve arthritis pain. These pain relievers contain ingredients like capsaicin, salicylates, menthol, or a combination of medicines. Ask your doctor if one of these products might be right for you.
- Consider Injections: Persistent arthritis pain may respond to treatment with injections. Available options include corticosteroids, which can be used up to 2 or 3 times a year to relieve severe pain, and hyaluronic acid, which can help replenish lubricating substances in the knee. Talk to your doctor about the benefits and risks of injectable treatments for knee pain.
- Talk to Your Doctor about Surgery: If you have severe osteoarthritissymptoms that interfere with daily life and do not respond to conservative treatment, surgery may be necessary.
It is often said that a human being is a social animal. While this is true, does this mean that all degrees of social attachment are completely fine? Honestly, no. In fact, attachment displayed by children, to a very great extent, can have an unhealthy impact on the child’s psychology.
Children are sometimes affected by attachment disorders. This results in the child not being able to manage emotions to a sufficient degree. In addition to this, a child may suffer from a lack of self-worth due to not being able to connect on an emotional level with another person. Can you imagine how damaging this could be for a child who is so vulnerable while growing up?
When a child has a negative experience in his or her relationship with a parent, especially early on, an attachment disorder can develop. All children need varying degrees of a feeling of security to develop in initially and this is gone when they feel helpless and uncared for; not good indeed, to say the least!
What are some specific things, which can lead to the development of attachment disorders? One of the prime examples would be the needs of the baby being met some times but not all of the time. What this leads to is a baby not really knowing what is to be expected. Another thing which has the potential to be a trigger for an attachment disorder is the baby being neglected in the way that no person interacts with him or her and as a result of this, the baby seems to have no option at all, but to feel lonely.
So, what can be done in order to be able to deal with this situation? To start off, it can be said that the person himself or herself needs to put in a lot of effort. Patience truly is key as it helps in the improvement process and a parent needs to stay calm at every step.
When it comes to interactions with the child, listening, talking and playing while eliminating distractions, allows the child the opportunity to open up. Also, helping a child identify the emotions that are felt helps a lot.
Bonding with the child and physical care by the way of holding and hugging provides a sense of care and security to the child. Adequate sleep and a sufficient diet for the child are very important, as is exercise. The diet should ideally be low on sugar and must consist of good fats, like those from olive oil and fish.
Depression is a common problem which does not permit the affected person to reach full happiness; it causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest, as well as disturbance of sleep patterns and appetite. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression and 18% of them are from India. Recent WHO estimates say that for every 100 Indians, more than 10 have signs of depression. Depression may sound small but can devastate once’s life. So, it is essential for you to overcome depression before it becomes severe and persistent.
1. Socialize: As depression affects your mood, the common tendency is to alienate or isolate yourself. All you want to do during this low period is to stay by yourself as you may feel no body can help you to relieve this pain. That is a myth. Social withdrawal amplifies the brain's stress response and push you further into crisis. Social contact helps to put the brakes on it. Try making new friends or meet up old pals. Share your feelings with your loved ones, they will understand you and help to swim in the troubled waters. Remember, people do love you
2. Kill the Laziness: People with depression often feel very tired and don’t want to take part in any activities. It’s also one of the main causes of disability in depression. Try to stay away from this laziness. Try to push yourself up. This will boost up your confidence and prevent you from feeling worthless. You are unique and nobody can replace you and the work you do.
3. Eat Healthy. Losing Appetite and craving for high sugar foods (Like chocolate) is a common thing when you are feeling depressed. Poor diet and depression will pull you down the spiral faster. There are many healthful foods that act as antidepressants (beans, nuts, whole grains, green leafy vegetables). While these good-mood foods are essential for your diet, there’s still more that you can do by just eating right food at the right time.
4. Get moving: Getting exercise can help reduce fatigue by promoting better sleep. Exercise may also directly increase energy. Just one 30-minute session of aerobic exercise can stimulate feelings of increased energy. Exercise releases the body's feel-good chemicals called endorphins, resulting in the "runner's high". Start with five minutes a day of walking by listening to your favorite song. Soon, five minutes of activity will become 10, and 10 will become 15 and it will become a habit.
5. Practice good sleep habits. Sleep hygiene is another important part of managing fatigue when you have depression, when in depression or feeling low, 72% of people sleep more than normal which impacts your brain in many ways. Try avoiding Caffeine or Alcohol before sleep, have a dim pleasant light in the room, open the doors and windows of the room. Sometimes all you need a warm shower and a continuous sleep of eight hours.
6. Stop Ruminating: A major component of depression is rumination, which involves thinking too much about themes like loss and failure that cause you to feel worse about yourself. Rumination is a toxic process that leads to negative self-talk such as, "It's my own fault. Who would ever want me a friend?" Rumination can also cause you to interpret neutral events in a negative fashion. For example, when you're buying groceries, you may notice that the checkout person smiles at the person in front of you but doesn't smile at you, so you perceive it as a slight. Try no to leave yourself open to these thoughts and the never is believe them. To avoid such thoughts, engage is other activity which you like or try writing down all good things you did in recent past.
7. Avoid Excessive Social Media Use: Socialize means meeting people in person or talking over phone/video call. It has been found that when depressed, the use of social media applications increases by more than 300%. This indirectly impacts on one’s thinking and increases negative emotions. Instead, look back at your profile and walk through the all happy times you posted on the social media. This will enhance your mood and positive thinking
8. De-stress. Stress is a major brain drainer and can be both a contributor to depression and a byproduct of depression, so stress reduction is a worthwhile cause. Simple stress reducers can help you take some of the pressure out of your life like taking a day off and chilling out in the sun. Set aside time to think about the stressors in your life and brainstorm with your loved ones is the best ways to reduce them. And when you’re feeling stressed, try 7-7-7 breathing exercise: close your eyes and breathe in while counting to seven, hold your breath and count to seven, breathe out while counting to seven. This will help you to calm down from within and stay more focused.
9. Most importantly never give up and try all possible means to make yourself happy again. Easier said than done, it is a time-consuming and needs a lot of effort. Inspire yourself and try till you get over your depression completely.

When the salivary glands do not produce enough saliva, the mouth gets dry and uncomfortable. Due to certain conditions, such a phenomenon can occur and this condition is known as dry mouth or xerostomia. Xerostomia or dry mouth can occur due to multiple reasons.

- Side effects of certain medications: Dry mouth occurs due to the effect of certain prescription and nonprescription medications. Drugs used to treat depression, pain, allergies, anxiety, epilepsy, obesity, nausea and psychotic disorders can cause dry mouth condition as a side effect. - Nerve damage: Dry mouth can also be due to a person suffering from nerve damage caused due to accident or surgery.
- Dehydration: Conditions like fever, excessive vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweating, which cause dehydration can also cause dry mouth.
- Removal of salivary glands: Surgical removal of the salivary glands also causes dry mouth.
- Lifestyle choices: Certain lifestyle preferences such as chewing tobacco or smoking can cause dry mouth.
Dry mouth has several symptoms. If you have some or all of the symptoms mentioned below, then you are more than likely suffering from dry mouth.
- A sticky and dry feeling in the mouth.
