When to do Sex for Pregnany

Diploma in Paediatrics, MBBS
Sexologist, Dehradun
When to do Sex for Pregnany

There are many myths on when a woman can become pregnant and when she can’t. Women mostly believe that sex at any point of cycle will make them pregnant. But in reality ovulation is the best time to have sex to get pregnant. If you are trying to get pregnant then it is essential to be attentive to the physical changes of your body. By keeping a close eye you can easily discover physical signs of ovulation i.e. the best time for getting pregnant.

Determine when you Ovulate

You need to first detect ovulation before planning pregnancy and time your sexual intercourse in accordance with it. Every month, the hormonal changes in a women's body causes the  release of an egg. The egg later travels to the uterus though the fallopian tube. This stage is referred to as ovulation. There are many ways of knowing the time when your ripe egg is released from the ovary.

Women with regular menstrual cycle: Those women who have a regular menstrual cycle can simply calculate their ovulation period. In an average menstrual cycle of 28 days, ovulation occurs before 14 days of period. So you can easily get the date of your ovulation by deducting 14 days from the length of your cycle.
Women with irregular menstrual cycle: In case your menstrual cycle is not regular you can know your time of ovulation by using an ovulation production kit, by monitoring your body temperature and by changes in your cervical mucus.

When to have Sex to get Pregnant?

Whether you have regular or irregular menstrual cycle, the best time to have sex to get pregnant is when your mucus become slippery, stretchy and clear. Volume of mucus noticeably increases with the rising level of estrogen.

A study done by University of North Carolina to find out the better predictor of sex that will lead to pregnancy states that the day you notice fertile cervical mucus is the best day to have intercourse to get pregnant. This is because it aids the survival of sperms and increases your chances of getting pregnant. According to some researches, sex before the sixth day of ovulation increases the possibility of becoming pregnant.

Most of couples who are trying to have baby have sex only during the ovulation period. The problem with this practice is that if you have miscalculated your ovulation date then you will only be disappointed.

Some research studies have shown that sperm quality and quantity is at peak after one to two days of abstinence from sex. And it diminishes greatly after ten days. So if you are waiting for your signs of ovulation and didn’t have sex for several days then the sperms of your partner may not be as fertile as needed for you to conceive.

Irregular periods can be caused due to menstrual cycle disorders. They are very common and can be easily treated with medications. Every month the brain, ovaries & uterus follow a sequence of events to prepare the body for pregnancy. There are four major hormones which are at play here, the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone and estrogen. Menstrual cycle disorders occur from conditions that affect the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, ovaries, uterus, cervix, or vagina. You should also look out for other signs such as pregnancy, family history of irregular periods, Acne issues, hair on face or chest, gained weight recently, hot flashes, night sweats, frequent headaches, stress or taking any herbal medications. You should urgently see a doctor if you have been having irregular periods for more than three menstrual periods (either consecutively or over the course of a year). In physical exam, we will thoroughly check your reproductive organs and breast. Commonest test done are hemoglobin, iron studies, hormonal assays and ultrasound abdomen. Treatment is given depending upon the cause which can be found out after thorough examination by a Homoeopath, so visit your nearest Homoeopath today.

Specific treatment includes galo powder + katho powder + haldi powder equal part. 2 tsf bd with honey. Sitting in neem water for 5 minutes or vaginal douse with neem water. Local application of gv is sufficient in case of curd like discharge. Neem water can lead to sterility if used for prolonged period in months. Natural diet like fruits and vegetables - amla - will help. Freez water and cold drinks to be avoided. Cotton cloths will provide air circulation for necessary dry ness. More can be done with help of history and diagnosis. Respected jasvir hope this will help you out in best ways for leucorrhoea. Thanks regards hope for your early & best recovery.

Hello Dear,Periods occur when the egg formed during each menstrual cycle in the female body is not fertilized and hence ejected out of the reproductive system along with blood and several other tissue cells. The duration of each menstrual cycle is about 28 days Most women will experience their monthly period right from the time they are 13 to the time they are 50. For many women, their monthly period is nothing more than an annoyance; but other women may suffer some problems. Visit us at www.Malhotraayurveda.Com

There is no need for D&C or even laparoscopy. If after miscarriage u did not get pregnant by one full year, then only u have to take treatment. Maximum u can do HSG to test the tubes, but only after 1 full year. In the first place u did not need any treatment to get pregnant for the first time as u r just 2 years into marriage now. U r definitely getting excessive treatment too soon.

My friend had a sex with his bf for the 1st time and he used condom also it is necessary to take pills for safety she dont know weather condom was broken or not and she had sex on friday and now also she is getting little bit bleeding while doing urine may I know y any thing she has to do.

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Bangalore
Dear lybrate-user If she is not sure if the condom has broken or not then it's best for her to take an I pill within 72 hours from having sex. Going by the symptoms you have said it might be possible that she has developed urine infection after the sex. If she has persistent pain and spotting while passing urine she might need further testing. Good luck.

The lower abdomen pain can be due to premature uterine contractions, she would need an uterine relaxant medications to prevent premature labour. Back pain can be also due to the above cause. Pain in legs can be due to vitamin or electrolyte deficiency, she needs to have a evaluation to find out what is the cause.
