With diet control blood glucose levels will drop. However, with such high hba1c you will need medicines. The dosage of medicine can come down over time. But at present it is imperil ice that you start treatment.

You must go to gym daily for exercise. Also you can take banana shake grapes juice and mango shake, peanut butter, butter sugar paste daily atleast 40 grams for a month and call back.

To achieve weightloss - think long term. Weight loss achieved over short term, always comes back. Try this general approach (see below) for 4 weeks. If this works then continue. Lifestyle modification - combination of nutritional plan, stress management, exercise prescription for your current fitness level and sleep improvement, (if required). 1. Do not eat anything sugary or sweet. Zero sweetness in diet. 2. Eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner along with other foods. 3. Do not drink any liquid calorie like cola or fruit juices. 4. Brisk walks or jogging for 45 - 60 minutes every day. My best wishes.

Placenta Previa - Understanding It In Detail!

The placenta is a rich vascular tissue seen in the inner wall of the uterus. It provides nutrition to the growing baby through the umbilical cord. It also helps in removal of wastes from the developing baby. The placenta is usually present on the upper part of the uterus and grows during pregnancy in size and vascularity.

However, if this placenta is towards the lower portion near the cervix, it is known as previa, meaning prolapse. This could happen during the third trimester of pregnancy. There are chances that it will block the cervix, which is the opening of the uterus into the birth canal. This may hinder normal delivery and can be one of the reasons necessitating cesarean section. As the baby tries to push through the placenta, the highly vascular placenta can tear and cause significant bleeding. It can be a big risk to both the mother and the baby.

Occurrence
Placenta previa is quite common and can happen for every 1 in 200 pregnancies. Though what causes it is not very clear, some of the predisposing factors include the following:

  1. Advanced maternal age (35 or more)
  2. Smoking mothers
  3. Have had children
  4. History of C-section
  5. Carrying twins or triplets
  6. History of uterine surgeries

Types
There could be complete previa or total previa.

  1. If the placenta is in the lower portion of the uterus, but not close to the cervix, with about 2 cm distance between the cervix and the placenta tip, it is termed as low-lying placenta.
  2. If the placenta sits on the border of the cervix, but does not cover the opening, it is partial or marginal previa.
  3. When it is in the lower portion and completely covers the cervix, it is complete previa.

Testing
Placental position is monitored throughout pregnancy, and by the second trimester, the doctor can suspect potential previa. Though the placenta may be in the lower half of the uterus during the first trimester, it usually moves up towards the end of the second trimester. If it does not, then the doctor might request for periodic testing to ensure it is in place.

Management

  1. Fresh bleeding during the third trimester is indicative of previa. Managing previa depends on how far you are into the pregnancy and how severe the bleeding is.
  2. If it is minimal, then only observation will suffice. Bed rest with no intercourse, no pelvic exams, and limited travelling is recommended.
  3. If the previa is confirmed and there is no bleeding, a C-section will be scheduled at 37 weeks.
  4. If delivery cannot wait, then the baby will be immediately delivered at the end of 34 weeks, post which the baby and mother will be kept under observation. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Spotting - What Does it Indicate?

Spotting can be stated as a form of mild bleeding from the vagina. It is similar to a period, but it is much lighter and can occur in between your periods. Most women who are pregnant and are in their first trimester experience spotting. In fact, spotting is often seen as one of the early signs of pregnancy.

Spotting can happen because of any of the following reasons:

  1. Cysts in the uterus can cause spotting
  2. Though very rare, a thyroid problem can also lead to spotting
  3. Any infection in the cervix or uterine cancer can also cause spotting
  4. Lastly, hormonal imbalance can also cause spotting

What can spotting signify?
Spotting is completely normal and there is no need to be worried if it happens on account of any of the following reasons.

  1. Light spotting at the end of the bleeding period during the menstrual cycle is common.
  2. Spotting can also occur during ovulation; in fact, seeing some spots of blood when one is ovulating, is often considered as an excellent sign of fertility.
  3. Mild spotting can also develop after sex, especially if it is for the first time, owing to the hymen getting ruptured
  4. Mild spotting if one is on birth control pills is also normal.

When should you be worried?

  1. Spotting is an early sign of pregnancy and if you are not planning to conceive any time soon, then you must visit your gynaecologist.
  2. Spotting may also be a symptom of any STD, primarily Chlamydia or Gonorrhea.
  3. As spotting could also be indicative of cancer, it’s advisable to not delay and consult the gynaecologist immediately.

To feel energetic and refreshed in life, you must exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, maintain your ideal body weight, follow a good diet, sleep properly, drink water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated, avoid alcohol and stop smoking. Whenever you feel weak, eat one or two bananas. You can also try a banana shake or smoothie. To help strengthen your body and keep from feeling weak, eat a ripe banana with one tablespoon of honey twice daily. Soak two almonds, one dried fig, and a few raisins in water overnight. In the morning, remove the almonds, figs and raisins and drink the water. Peel and eat the almonds, followed by the fig and raisins. Also, carry roasted almonds with you and whenever you feel fatigue or weak, eat some to get instant energy. Whenever you have weakness, drink a cup of warm milk with one teaspoon of honey mixed in it. You can also boil two to three figs in one cup of milk. Eat the boiled figs and drink the milk to gain strength. Alternatively, add one teaspoon of clarified butter to a glass of warm milk. Drink it twice daily to cure weakness caused by excessive loss of blood. Also known as amla, indian gooseberry is a highly nutritious fruit that can improve your energy level. It is a good source of vitamin c, calcium, protein, irons, carbohydrates, and phosphorous. Simply eating one indian gooseberry daily can strengthen a weak immune system.

Hello doctor, my wife is feeling tired after she climbs one floor and after her kitchen work. She has also lost her weight in this few months. When checked her hb count was 8.5. What can be done. Please advice.

Ideally other abnormalities of hb should be ruled out by one blood test, cause of low hb should be detected and low hb to be treated. The best way is to consult a doctor who can do all these.

If your goal is to keep your body healthy and fit, then your workout should comprise of cardio, body weight exercises and weight training. 1. Before commencing your workout, do a light jog of about 2-3 kms at a decent pace. 2. Never skip the body weight exercises which are mainly push ups, pull ups and squats. 3. And weight training is very helpful to gain strength and keep your tendons and ligaments strong.
