Stress - 5 Ayurvedic Remedies To Manage It!

Stress is a mental condition that can be triggered by various factors like personal problems and diseases. Ayurvedic unlike many conventional treatments, has natural treatments and as such is free from side effects. There are multiple treatments in Ayurveda that can be used to treat stress, they are:

  1. Exercise: Exercising helps in releasing endorphins (feel good hormones) in the body. Exercises like running and swimming can help in treating stress as well as aid in burning calories and keep your weight levels in check. Exercise also helps in boosting your alertness and concentration and thus boosting your overall mental health.
  2. DietInclude plenty of vegetables and fruits in your diet to increase your intake of vitamins and antioxidants. Avoid eating non vegetarian foods as they can lead to accumulation of toxins in the body and cause problems. Include foods like nuts and dark chocolate as they are known as mood boosters. These foods also promote feelings of satiety.
  3. Practice relaxation techniques: You can practice relaxation techniques like meditation, which helps in calming the mind. Basic meditative techniques like focusing on your breath and practicing mindfulness are very beneficial. They also help you in de-stressing and improving your focus.
  4. Herbs: You may also include herbs like brahmi that has properties which can reduce stress levels in your body. It can also help in controlling anxiety and stress. It also provides the body with antioxidants that are good for the body as they help in controlling the free radical damage. Ashwagandha is yet another herb that helps in limiting levels of stress and fatigue in the body. It also improves the immune function in the body which means that you will be less prone to diseases.
  5. Massage therapy: You may opt for massage therapy to reduce stress levels in the body. Use a concoction of various medicated oils to massage your head and body. Massage therapy can improve blood circulation in the body and lead to lower levels of stress.

I am getting irritating every time without any reason even for small things please help me to get me out of this.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. I suggest anger management therapy. Take care.

Dear Mr. Lybrate-user, enjoy your life and its moments, no need to be over self critical. Take some time out to figure what it is that you want to do in your life and list out your short term and long term goals. Once you have done this life your life according to the goals you have set. Just open your eyes (so to say) and be conscious of all the beautiful moments and see all the blessings and opportunities that come your way! wishing you all the best! sajen john.

Why do I often get dream that I am loosing my teeth. I have read that it is sign of anxiety is it true?
Dream of loosing of teeth is related to lack of self confidence in life, don't think of it much. Just take appropriate sleep, go for morning walk, listen to music, do small tasks with perfection, believe in yourself, appreciate yourself. This will work. :-)

I started smoking in 2010 & i smoke quite a bit much than normal ( means avg. 10 cigarette per day ) so i just want to ask how many months or years it will take to come back to normal life / healthy life as i never smoked if i quit today. Also is there any medication available to quit ? please reply me

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Delhi
Yes. If u stop cigaratte u will be like before only in few weeks. For that u need to set a quit date. Dont be too much enthusiastic and keep the quit date as per ur convenience. It is not necessary that the quit date should be very close to the day u decide to quit smoking. Lower down ur cigaratte slowly, initially lower down the number per day than when it comes to 2-3 cigarates per day, u can increase the interval period between two cigarattes. Finally u will be able to quit. For craving u need to be highly motivated and still if u feel for cigaratte go for nicotene gums which is awailable in market. Take care

I am 24 years old male and I have suffering from depression and Schizophrenia and I take etilaam S10 can I have took risdone Mt .5 mg tablet with etilaam S10?

I am 24 years old male and I have suffering from depression and Schizophrenia and I take etilaam S10 can I have took ...
You need to combine medication with therapy to get the maximum benefits of both. Although this is a long term disease, and you will probably remain for long on medication you must still persevere. Schizophrenia is a very complex and difficult disease to treat, even with medication. All psychotropic medicines have side-effects: that is inescapable. But I suspect that you are depending entirely on medication when in reality you need to combine it with counselings or therapy. In therapy you will learn a lot of coping mechanisms and techniques to remain functional and lead a close-to-normal life. You will also learn about emotions and how they can impact your condition adversely. Expressing emotions in an appropriate manner will equip you for life. Talking and sharing about the many disturbing thoughts and learning to understand yourself and moderate your responses will go a long way towards normalising and training your mind. Exercise must be a regular part of your life for various reasons. Put yourself on a productive and strict schedule. The idle mind is the devil's workshop for sure, and more so for a schizophrenic.

There is no such problem without it's solution. so don't worry meenu. you know what is bothering you so, just try to be little more patient with yourself and understand that being human we are prone to mistakes. no mistake is that big for which u have to punish yourself hard. best thing is realizing. I feel u ve realized. you just need to talk out and share. seek professional help, in your reach. just be a little softer towards yourself.
