Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do stretching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. If still you dont get relief see a physiotherapist as there are various causes for leg/ joint pain and some test may be required for further investigation. Best wishes.

Hello doctor I am 16+. I am affecting from knee pain from last two years. The symptoms are severe knee pain when folded for long time which forces me to strech it. Sometime at morning when I woke up I get severe pain in my knee and I am unable to fold it and it last for time. My knee also swells when pain last.

Hello . You are mostly having meniscal ter. Or ligament injury. Get an xray done. Apply ice and take painkillers for 7 days and feel free to take advice further if needed.

I am 31 year old unmarried female, I m having backache from the last 2 months that is being travelling till my knee and become very painful. Last year I diagnosed with vit d and calcium deficiency for that I took treatment for 3-4 months including vit d injections but now again that problem is occurring. What can be the solution? Secondly I m having too much grey hair though m using khadi's hair oil I. E. Bhringraj but too much hair fall also m facing. Can you help me out in the same as well.

Regarding back pain proper rest is important if you are working. Do back excercise. Avoid prolong sitting and standing. Do regular walking. Take plenty of water. Otherwise meet me with all reports.

This could be a condition know as tennis elbow. Do ice pack for 12 minutes 3- 4 times a day, use tenis elbow support. Avoid painful movements. Wait for week if not improving consult a good physiotherapist nearby.

Kindly show me digital x rays of affected part.(ls spine) rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

The pain may be of arthritis or some pathological reasons take ift & laser therapy for 12 days followed by static quadriceps exercises with hot and cold water fomentation for 15 min of twice a day for 5 days.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Some patients need more core strengthening while others benefit mainly from stretching and improving flexibility. Please consult a Orthopedic Physiotherapist for the right exercise plan. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.

From last 4 yrs, my stomach feel start anxious about something and it heads towards my heart and I feel like I can die at any moment because of heart attack or loss of breath. I always suffered back ache and neck ache. When I do certain exercises of breathing, I always feel breathlessness with shivering of hands and legs. When I rolled down my head exercise, I started feeling fainting and also fainting normally. I always fear of heights, snakes etc and when I heard a sound, my mind alerted me very fast and heartbeats started rapidly. Due to this, I also feel to commit suicide as no way of getting out of this. Excitement also leads me into rapid heartbeat. All the time, I feel tired and lonely. Also I feel difficulty in removing negativity and memory loss is quite regular. Is their any medication or some test or any special concern. Kindly help me out.

Hi lybrate-user, it seems you are suffering from panic anxiety. There are not tests for this since its entirely due to brain acitvity and no deformity. Its an anxiety disorder and sure shot curable. It has two modes of treatment first is medication for which you should visit a good psychiatrist second in case of anxiety and dissociation ((fainting)) psychotherapy helps a lot where in you will be taught to manage your anxiety through exercises and be master of your mind for which you can consult with me or any other psychologist. Do not worry suicide is not option, when medical attention is available to you. All the best. Seek treatment asap.
