I am a diabetic I am think I am having erectile dysfunction please help me cause this is ruining my sex life.
Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes after certain years of presence does cause ed in a large number of patients, particularly if blood sugar levels are not in control. Sugar levels are considered in control if fasting is about 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg/100ml. And hba1c%<7. If this not maintained then all the long term complications associated with dm are often seen. Hence, it is necessary to control sugar levels as close to normal as possible. In your case with a bmi of 39.94 kgs/m2, you have morbid obesity, which is one of the main causes for diabetes and its problems. Drugs alone will not help. You need to seriously work on weight reduction. Even a 10 % reduction will be greatly beneficial. Plus there are some drugs which might temporarily be helpful.

I have red spots on thighs from 3 days and increasing regularly with itching. What should I do?
Red spots on your thighs are the allergic rashes which increases on itching. Allergy occurs due to various reasons like medication, intake of oily food, exposure to cold weather, dustmite or pollen. Find out the cause for your allergy and stay away from it. You can apply sandal paste or calamine lotion on the affected part. Avoid oily food and nuts. You can take anti allergic tablets internally for 3-4 days (tab allerin 1-1-1 with water}

Respected doctors I am 23 years old I had gone through Hernia (right inguinal) repair. So my question is what happens to the mesh. Will it melts inside the body or remain constant. My surgery had done before 5 months, but when I try to do exercise leaning to the ground I am getting some irritation and some what pain in that area. What happen to the mesh and how for many months I have to face the pain. Please answer me thank you.

MS - General Surgery, FMAS.Laparoscopy
General Surgeon, Gandhinagar
Hello dear lybrate-user, hi Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly.* There are 2 types of mesh used in the hernia repair 1. Non degradable - remain in the body for life. 2. Bio absorbable - gets absorbed in the body, once its action is over, does not remain for life in the body.* So which type of mesh your surgeon has kept inside you has to be inquired with the surgeon.* Usually there should not be any kind of discomfort for any activity after 3 - 4 months of period of surgery when all internal healing has taken place, so in your case it is 5 months, so has to consult the surgeon to find out the cause and treatment for this issue. Hope this clears your query. Wishing you fine recovery. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards dear take care.

Please read up on Computer vision syndrome. Follow 2 simple rules - 20-20-20 rule and palming. 20-20-20 rule means after every 20 minutes of computer use for 20 seconds look beyond a distance of 20 feet. If too much of symptoms, consider using a tear substitute/ lubricating eye drops.

The two main causes of post c-section pain are nerve pain and muscle pain. Muscle pain is actually the most common cause of chronic pain overall. Muscle pain can happen spontaneously; however, it can also be triggered by trauma (like surgery or childbirth). Throw in the hormonal changes of pregnancy and delivery as well as the lack of sleep and the stress of caring for a newborn and you have many of the ingredients for a chronic pain condition. You not need to worry about the pain because pain will subside after few days. Keep clean and dry and open always the operated portion. If problems remain still after few days. You need consult your gynaecologist atleast once.

Broccoli Health Benefits

MD - General Medicine

Broccoli Health Benefits

Broccoli is known to be hearty and tasty vegetable which is rich in dozens of nutrients. It is said to pack the most nutritional punch of any vegetable.

Here are some of the benefits of broccoli:

1.Cancer prevention: Broccoli shares these cancer fighting, immune boosting properties with other cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and cabbage.

2. Cholesterol reduction: Like many whole foods, broccoli is packed with soluble fiber that draws cholesterol out of your body.

3. Reducing allergic reaction and inflammation: Research has shown the ability of kaempferol to lessen the impact of allergy-related substances on our body. Broccoli even has significant amounts of omega 3 fatty acids, which are well know as an anti-inflammatory.

4. Powerful antioxidant: Of all the cruciferous vegetables, broccoli stands out as the most concentrated source of vitamin C, plus the flavonoids necessary for vitamin C to recycle effectively. Also concentrated in broccoli are the carotenoids lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-carotene, other powerful antioxidants.

5. Bone health: Broccoli contains high levels of both calcium and vitamin K, both of which are important for bone health and prevention of osteoporosis.

6. Heart health: The anti-inflammatory properties of sulforaphane, one of the isothiocyanates (ITCs) in broccoli, may be able to prevent (or even reverse) some of the damage to blood vessel linings that can be caused by inflammation due to chronic blood sugar problems.

7. Diet aid: Broccoli is a good carb and is high in fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating.

8. High in Indole-3-carbinol, a compound that helps reduce estrogen levels, broccoli is a great libido booster in men (although it can have the opposite effect in women). Brussel sprouts are also a great source of Indole-3-carbinol.
9.Eat healthy for a healthier bedroom experience. According to Spanish research published in Fertility and Sterility, upping your intake of folates found in broccoli can increase semen production, which leads to stronger orgasms and improved fertility.

Furthermore, a cup of broccoli has as much protein as a cup of rice or corn with half the calories.
