Cramps in your hand can arise from a number of different causes. Hand cramps develop as a result of conditions affecting muscles and nerves in your hand. Trauma or injury to a nerve in your hand can also cause hand cramps. Even breathing too fast (hyperventilation) can result in hand cramps, as carbon dioxide levels in the blood become too low. Everyday, simple reasons, such as fatigue from overuse, can lead to temporary, acute cramps in the hand. Please see if you are using your fingers too much in your work - computer typing etc. Do hot and cold compresses alternatively to relax the muscles.

I am 72 years old male and I have pain on my heels (people say plasterfastic pain) and now added knee pain. Tried hot water and cold water therapy, not much success. Now applying ayurvedic oils like karpoorathy thailam etc. Doing few floor exercises like folding and releasing, knee lifting and lowering. Can you please suggest any better way of handling this pain.

My left hand both bone broken below elbow. Both side plate fitted in 2000. Is it necessary to remove plate. Any side effect or problem in future.

DNB (Orthopedics), MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Visakhapatnam
Not absolutely necessary to remove plates, but it recommended to remove once proper bony union occurs .bcz of plate/ nail doesn't serve any function. Ideally implan removal between 3 to 18 months after bony union depends on bone, age and implant used, if there any clinical indications implants must be removed. Tq.

For knee, most probably it's a osteoarthritis so you have to avoid low sitting, squatting and if possible avoid stair climbing as less as possible. Do some exercises for knee to strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee like: below knee keep a bed sheets roll and press on it, hold for 10 sec and release again after 5 sec repeat the same for 10 times, morning and evening. Than lift your leg up up-to 45to 60 degrees and hold for 10 sec and repeat the same for 10 times. Use hot pack for 15 min daily for back and also for knees. For back You need to improve your core muscles strength. Avoid forward bending activities. Sitting on soft sofa, Bean bag etc. Avoid low sitting. For spinal exercises you can contact me . Wish you happy New Year 2018.

This is cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help and along side you can do hot water fermentation. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain ie. Due to the nerve compression.

I am 39 y old suffering from spondylosis for the last 4 yrs. Severe at first ie 2011 year. Mild now if with hard controlled of lifting heavy weight. But could not fully recover. What should I do to recover fully back? life is so hard with this.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Zirakpur
Spondylosis is best managed by physiotherapy and no role of drugs is there. Exercises, tractions, collar or belt support as the case may be and some relaxing gels and painkillers are the best things a surgeon can give. Main role is of physio n support only. Vaidyas are blessed with the advantage of suggesting some herbal applications and oral med those not only relax muscles but also strengthen them and help maintaining proper gap in ivd spaces. But again support of area and physiotherapy can't be dispensed away. No pain killers in ayurveda. Long duration in both pathies are reqd but ayurveda will not have bad effects. Choice is yours.
