Every year 1st week of August is observed as World Breastfeeding Week. There are many ingredients like DHA, cystine in breastmilk which help for proper development of brain. As the maximum brain growth occurs within 2 years breastfed babies are going to be more intelligent. Hence all lactating mothers should make up their mind to feed their babies at least till the age of 2 years.

Make sure what your preference wants child with your wish not want to get infected fearing of getting bleed. She is your wife if you want child then you need to make contact with out condom. As far as infection is concerned if you do not trust on partner then go and have checks is it not any one suffering any venereal infection. Wish you good health.

I am 34 years female trying to conceive. Last month I had symptoms during ovulation but after 3days bleeding near my menstrual cycles no symptoms. Could I be pregnant because bleeding was little lighter than my regular 28days cycles?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
If you r pregnant then bleeding will be only in the form of spotting around the day of due date for menses. As you had less than normal bleeding still it does not qualify for the bleeding of pregnancy which is called as implantation bleeding which is in the form of spotting. Still if you have doubt, you can do urine pregnancy test after 7 days.

You have not specified what period issues you are having. If cycles are irregular or delayed you may have a hormonal problem. If you are heavy bleeding it might be some problem in uterus. Pls specify.

My daughter is unable to suck milk from my breast as there is less milk please hlp me how I increase my breast milk.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Eat healthy food and stop worrying. If child is growing properly as depicted in normal growth charts and if she is playful, there is no reason to think of inadequate breast secretion. You did not mention age and weight of the child. It is difficult to address your query based only on your perception.

Hi doctor. I am 19 years old female. My periods have always been normal until I missed in the month of April. My last period was on 11 march 2016. I had a lot of exam stress so I attributed it to the same. However I did an ultrasound which did not show any abnormality in my ovaries whatsoever. Then on 4 june 2016 I took tab estrogen and progesterone and got my period on 10 june 2016. I again missed my cycle in july and went for a hormonal profile which showed that my LH waz 26.47 and FsH 7.07 and PRl 28.09. My endocrinologist said you have PCOS although I do not have any other symptom other than a bit of weight gain. He started me on metformin 500 mg and gave diving 10 for 7 days to induce periods which I did not get even after waiting for 15 days. So today I went to an ob/gyn and he said to increase metformin to 1 g and take krimson 35 for a month or two and check. I am really worried. Is this a very big issue? Will it affect my fertility in any way? Web makes PCOS look like something very evil. Please help.

I want to know is after this operation will my irregular cycle will be regular and also can I lose my weight and conceive in how many months. Are there any side effects with the operation.

U r suffering from pcod most probably. Your first line of treatment is weight reduction. Laparosopy is not at all going to help u. Doctor is doing it for his/her benefit. Your weight should come as close to 60 kg, which will regularise your cycles and will help in getting pregnant. You can take metformin to reduce weight.

Symptoms And Precautionary Measures of Dyspareunia

Symptoms And Precautionary Measures of Dyspareunia

Dyspareunia is a phenomenon noticed in both males and females, but more frequently in females. It refers to recurring pain during or after sexual intercourse. Such kind of pain affects female genitalia usually the vagina, clitoris, or at times the depths of the pelvis. This pain is often accompanied by a burning, itching or throbbing sensation which can prove to be extremely discomforting if left unattended. Thankfully, a careful examination of symptoms leading to Dyspareunia and its early diagnosis can improve a person's sexual health.

Indicators of this deep rooted problem

  1. Pain can occur during penetration in and around the vagina, urethra or the bladder.
  2. Pain can be a new occurrence after earlier instances of painless intercourse.
  3. It can be felt throughout intercourse in places, such as deep in the pelvis or even after intercourse.
  4. The intensity of the ache is sometimes sharp and at other times, it is as piercing as menstrual cramps.
  5. It need not necessarily be associated with intercourse; pain can be experienced during any kind of penetration. Thus, using a tampon or a moon cup can also result in soreness.
  6. Skin diseases can either be a symptom or a root cause leading to the problem. Skin problems, such as Psoriasis or Lichen Sclerosus should not be taken lightly.
  7. Tightening of vaginal muscles at the beginning of intercourse may or may not be superficial pain. In most cases, it is identified as Vaginismus but it can also be a symptom of acute Dyspareunia.

Ways to nip the pain in the bud

  1. While, usually, pain during sexual intercourse is a result of adolescence or a traumatic sexual history, it can also be the result of a physiological problem contracted at birth. However, treatment in any situation is necessary to enable smooth functioning of one's life.
  2. Injectable corticosteroids might prove to be helpful.
  3. There are oral medications to remedy the problem; antibiotics and antifungal medicines.
  4. Increase in estrogen levels through the use of the drug Osphena helps in curing frailty of vaginal tissues.

Precautionary measures to be followed at home

  1. Taking a warm bath before intercourse can lead to betterment.
  2. It is best to avoid sex when in stress. Both partners should be relaxed to ensure a complete lack of pain.
  3. After sex pain can be relieved by applying an ice pack around the vulva.
  4. Urinating before sex can be helpful. It is also good to use water soluble lubricants for stimulation. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

Effects of Flex seeds during initial stages of pregnancy Flaxseeds are often considered highly dangerous in early stages of pregnancy. Here is the effect of flaxseeds on hormone: • The seeds are known to act as estrogen and stimulate contractions and menstruation. • This makes it highly dangerous during your initial stages of pregnancy. If you are taking flaxseeds during pregnancy, below are mentioned some of the side effects that you might encounter. Take a look: 1. Feelings of nausea, diarrhea and gas are some of the side effects of consumption of the seeds. 2. Allergic reactions such as swelling of lips, tightness in chest or breathing problems. 3. You can see a sudden increase in your blood pressure level with consumption of unripe or raw flaxseeds. 4. Flaxseeds contain toxic chemical called cyanide that can lead to poisoning. 5. Even if you are taking flaxseeds in pregnancy, make sure they are not unripe or raw.

If a female is HIV affected and done intercourse at the time of her periods, would it affect her partner or not?

Dear user. HIV Spreads through Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and HIV-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids. Deep, open-mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the HIV-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the HIV-negative partner. HIV is not spread through saliva. In this case, there is risk of HIV. Take care.

For those who had regular periods prior to missing period all calculations can be based on LMP. In your case on 20/10 you finished 2 nd month and 3 rd started. In those who did not have regular periods prior to LMP, sonography gestation period is to be taken in account. Most important all these calculations have no value to patient but are of value to treating doctors to make decision how to treat depending on complaints at which stage.
