Why Is Blood in Semen a Cause of Concern?

M.D.MEDICINE , Diploma in Diabetology
Sexologist, Jaipur
Why Is Blood in Semen a Cause of Concern?

Blood in semen occurs due to a variety of factors. It is also called 'hematospermia.' It mainly affects men after 30 years of age. After 50 years of age, blood in semen is caused due to prostate enlargement. Blood in semen is caused due to injuries, inflammation and blockage near the male reproductive system. Blood in semen can be linked to other diseases which might not be known by the affected person.

What can cause blood in semen?

  1. Blood in semen can be caused due to infections, tumors and stones.
  2. Abnormal body structure generally due to an autism spectrum disorder can also cause blood in semen.
  3. Prostate biopsy (removal of tissues from the prostate region which produces semen) also leads to blood in sperm sometimes. Though this is temporary and heals within three to four weeks.
  4. Vasectomy is a procedure done on men, which involves making small holes or slits in the scrotum so that the sperm doesn't flow during ejaculation. This is mainly done to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Sometimes, vasectomy causes blood in semen.
  5. It is also caused by infections such as Herpes, Chlamydia and Trichomoniasis.
  6. Sometimes, there are kidney stones found in the prostate called calculi, this is the most common reason for blood in semen.
  7. Blood in semen can also be caused due to parasitic infection, tuberculosis or chronic liver diseases.

Symptoms of blood in semen:

  1. Immense pain during ejaculation.
  2. Pain during urination.
  3. Acute lower back pain.
  4. Low to mild fever.
  5. Swelling in the scrotum and testes.
  6. Tenderness in the scrotum, testes and groin area.

Diagnosing blood in semen:

  1. While diagnosing blood in semen physical examinations are performed. The doctor checks for inflammation, swelling, tenderness and signs of injuries.
  2. Sometimes sexually transmitted diseases also cause blood in semen. So, the doctor takes a blood test to see whether you have STD's or not.
  3. Urine testing is also performed to see if any bacteria or abnormalities are found in the urine.
  4. MRIs, ultrasounds and CT scans can also locate any obstructions in the pelvic area which might be a cause of blood in semen. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

She doesn't need insulin at this stage. To control the blood sugar, she should avoid much sweets in food. Lower the amount of sugar in tea and other food items. Also, rice should be avoided. Eat more jamuns. They help in controlling diabetes.

Hair fall can occur due to many reasons like stress, chemical damage, nutritional deficiency, enviornmental factors etc. We need to access the exact reason to start treatment. Home remedy. Take 100ml coconut oil boil 2-4 pcs of amla fruit n 8-10 curry leaves in that oil till fruit n leaves turn black. Filter and strain. Massage it on scalp with finger tips gently. Wash hair next morning with curd mixed with besan. In ready to use you can start using rishi grow hair oil at bed time (mfg. By robin herbal healthcare products.) & wash with robin plus herbal shampoo. Use clean oil if dandruff is the reason as this oil treats it in just two applications along with reducing itching. Internal ayurvedic medicines if required will be provided after studying your bodily constitution as per ayurveda. Do it for two months and your hair fall will reduce to normal. As it's a very slow process so you can't see results in a week. Eat more of green leafy vegies and fresh seasonal fruits. Take amla powder or amla murabba/ carrot murabba twice daily. Use neem wood comb for managing hair and this should be changed regularly. Reduce your stress by yoga and meditation. Add some coconut daily in your diet. Keep water in copper vessel overnight and drink in the morning empty stomach. Avoid chinese foods and food stuffs packed in plastics. Avoid white flour (maida), excessive salt and spices. Let me know after it and I will advise accordingly.

10 Ways To Cope Better With Emotional Upsets!

10 Ways To Cope Better With Emotional Upsets!

Life has its ups and downs, but often we hold on to the downs for much longer than the actual event. While the trigger or anger, pain and hurt are beyond our control, the amount it can affect us is well within reach. Here are a few ways to cope better with emotional upsets.

  1. Give yourself a window to be upset: Be realistic and give yourself a time frame to give in to your emotions. Whether, angry, sad or frustrated tell yourself that you have only 1 day to be upset. In a way, this will diffuse the anger, frustration and once this time is over, you can start planning ahead.
  2. Take responsibility: Try analysing what you may have done to make the other person react in the way he or she did. Focus on what you could have done better and you will find yourself feeling more empowered.
  3. Get physical: Exercise and other forms of physical activity decrease stress hormones and increases the productions of endorphins or happy hormones that elevate the mind. Exercising also gives you time to focus on yourself without distractions.
  4. Express yourself: Whether it’s through art or writing, find an outlet for your emotions. This keeps it from being bottled up inside and gets the pain and frustration out of your system.
  5. Breathe: Breathing techniques like ujayii and anulom vilom can help calm the mind down when it is troubled and upset. These breathing techniques also keep your emotions from escalating.
  6. Get company: It is never a good idea to isolate yourself when you’re feeling blue. Instead, find people who you can open up to and share your thoughts with. This will give you a fresh perspective on what is going on.
  7. Look at both sides: No event is ever completely bad. No matter what may be troubling you look at both the good and bad sides of it. This can help minimise your loss and make it easier to let go of the problem.
  8. Do something different: The best way to get your mind off something is to give it something else to focus on. If you’re troubled by something that happened at work, go for a drive or play a sport. Similarly, if you’re having relationship trouble, go out with a few friends or read a book to take your mind off it.
  9. Visualize: Imagine the person or the event that is upsetting you as an object in your mind and visualise it melting away. Remind yourself that the anger or frustration you are feeling is worse than the person or event itself.
  10. Clean up: Organise your desk, your room or start cleaning up space around you. This will take attention away from whatever is troubling you and give you something to do. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of allergic rhinitis is more. But better to consult ent doctor first to rule out internal nose pathology. If there is no obstructive lesion in nose then allergic rhinitis is likely diagnosis in your case. You need to follow these things for better symptomatic relief. 1. Avoid stress and tension. Be relax and calm. 2. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. 3. Do regular steam inhalation 5-6 times a day. 4. Start intranasal spray containing steroid (fluticasone). 5. Also start oral combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs. You will mostly improve in 1-2 months with above mentioned steps. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Hlooo I want to ask abut the hazardous conditions i. E causes by which one under the contact of typhoid n it has become quite serious soo how can we cure it plzz reply it is urgent plzz thank you soo much.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Typhoid can be cured by proper antibiotic in its full course . Typhoid fever is an acute illness associated with fever caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria. It can also be caused by Salmonella paratyphi, a related bacterium that usually causes a less severe illness. The bacteria are deposited in water or food by a human carrier and are then spread to other people in the area.
