Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion: 1. As you weight is high for your Age make sure to check with TFT/Lipid Profile. 2. At your Age, necessary instructions to follow are: - Low salt diet, avoid chillies and oily food - regular exercises- walking, pelvic 7 abdominal exercises. - eat light, easily digestible food. PS. I do prepare medicine to treat such symptoms, if interested let me know at: /shimla/doctor/dr-munish-sood-ayurveda.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after going through your case history, I'm of the following opinion: 1. After going through your symptoms of cough/congestion, either there is the possibility of seasonal allergy, chronic bronchitis, or pneumonia as such you should see a Chest Specialist for relevant physical examination and investigation like: - Hb%, WBC for eosinophilia. - X-ray chest for TB, Pneumonia. - If other investigations are normal, HIV test [as routine] As mainly chest symptoms are there, thus this is an indication for immediate chest X-ray..-.The choice of antibiotic will vary from doctor to doctor, and from locality to locality, till then- maintain good oral hygiene, rinse your mouth after every meal, avoid smoking, tobacco chewing. - Take mainly soft diet - rice, chapati, or phulka, with nonspicy vegetables. - Avoid fried foods like wada, samosa, dosa, pakodas, papad, namkeen and potato chips, avoid hotel food. - Do not take any cold drinks, cold water, ice cream, chilled food from the refrigerator. - Avoid sour fruits like citrus fruits, grapes, take sweet fruits- bananas, papaya - Steam Inhalation and warm salt water gargles. - Cover the mouth while coughing (using hand or handkerchief) to prevent the spread of infection to other family members. PS. I do prepare result oriented medicine, if interested you can contact me directly on: /shimla/doctor/dr-munish-sood-ayurveda.

Know The Link Between Yoga and Ayurveda!

Know The Link Between Yoga and Ayurveda!

Yoga is a complete mind workout which is a combination of stretching along with deep breathing and meditation. It is a way of keeping yourself fit without doing strenuous workouts and lifting heavy weights.

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian medical science which treats an illness or a disease using natural ingredients. Ayurvedic treatment has been proven to be most effective in case of asthma, paralysis, joint pain, headache and gynecological issues. The following points emphasize the relation between yoga and Ayurveda.

1. Aim at ensuring mental peace
Yoga and Ayurveda both are extremely powerful in treating medical issues as well as in giving mental peace. Ayurveda uses diets, herbs, shrubs, meditation and pranayama for treating purpose.  Both of them are interrelated branches of India's ancient knowledge.
2. Based on similar principles
The principles of Trigunas i.e. sattva, rajas and tamas and principles of the panchamahabuthas i.e. fire, water, air, space and earth are the base of yoga and ayurveda. Both of these involve the understanding regarding what is the working procedure of the body and the effects that  food and medicine have on our body.
3. Share common beliefs
Both yoga and ayurveda have a common belief regarding healthy body. Both believe that a healthy and balanced mind results in a healthy body. Both of them have the similar metaphysical anatomy and physiology that consisting of 7 primary chakras (centers of energy), 5 bodily sheaths, 72,000 nadis (subtle channels) and the kundalini shakti (energy).

Yoga and ayurveda both believe that in order to fulfill the four aims of life it is necessary to keep your body healthy. The four aims are:
i.  Dharma (duty)
ii.  Artha (wealth)
iii. Kama (desire)
iv. Moksha (liberation)

4.Similar treatment measures

For the purpose of treatment, yoga and ayurveda both use meditation and pranayama practices. For improving the mental and physical health both of them use body purification procedures, herbs and natural ingredients and chanting of mantras. The body purification procedure is known as 'satkriyas' in yoga and as 'panchakarma' in ayurveda.

Many yoga practitioners add ayurvedic remedies to your daily routines because yoga and ayurveda together is a powerful medium to maintain your body, breath, senses, mind and chakras. Together yoga and ayurveda work excellently and cure you naturally with no side effects.

Overweight And Lifestyle Management!

B.A.M.S, MD (Ayu) Kayachikitsa
Ayurveda, Shimla

The secret of losing weight is to maximize your calorie output than input, so one has to learn how to calculate and burn the calories consumed every day to maintain balance.

A. DIETARY AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES

  1. There is a limit to how much one can exercise every day. An average (non athlete) person cannot run or exercise vigorously for more than 30 minutes i.e. you cannot burn more than 300 calories through EXERCISE every day! So it is important to control the tongue, along with whatever exercise you do:

½ hour of walking burn 130 calories

½ hour of jogging/running burn 300-350 calories

½ hour of swimming burn 250 calories

½ hour of cycling burn 150 calories

½ hour of aerobic exercise burn 250 calories

½ hour of light exercise like writing/driving burn 50 calories

i.e. if you don’t exercise you consume about 2000-2500 calories per day. To this, you Add any of the above exercise protocol to consume more calories and keep your calorie consumption below 2000 per day and you will be losing weight

2. Tips on Eating: Starvation is not the right way to lose weight. Take the right type of diet and eat heartily:

AVOID:

sedentary lifestyle, daytime sleeping after meals, newly harvested rice, curd, butter, ghee, cheese, cream, chocolates, cakes, pastries, ice-creams, jams.

Oils should be reduced to a minimum, avoid deep-fried foods like puries, bhajees, potato chips.

Avoid potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, yam, nuts, fruits with sweet pulp like mango, chickoos, bananas and grapes.

Avoid processed and tinned foods, opt for fresh foods

Drinking cold water after exercise.

Eliminate all cold food and drink; you should eat nothing that is refrigerator cold.

WHAT TO EAT:

Start the meal with a large bowl of thin soup, followed by a good volume of salads prepared with green vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, cucumber, sprouted pulses). This will prevent you from taking extra servings of the meals. Drink plenty of water and diluted buttermilk.

Avoid rice, take roti or phulka, without oil or ghee. The bhaji servings should be prepared from green leafy vegetables, onions, cauliflower’s, lady’s finger, radish, turnips, mushrooms, sprouted pulses. Oil may be substituted by gravy of tomato, onion, garlic, and ginger, in the curry or bhaji for taste.

For morning and evening snacks, take recommended fruits, vegetables, and low fat (skimmed) milk, black tea without sugar has negligible calories.

Carbohydrates: fat requires carbohydrates to burn, so take them in moderation like grains.

  1. DEVELOP HEALTHY EATING HABITS:

Do not eat only 2 large meals a day. It leads to overeating due to hunger. Take snacks in between. It is advisable to eat a good breakfast and light lunch and dinner.

Keep a quiet and pleasant atmosphere in the dining hall. Watching TV while eating, talking, arguments, angry discussions all lead to overeating g.

Eat slowly; chewing each bite thoroughly gives a feeling of satiation.

Do not be tempted to finish up the leftovers.

Use nonstick cooking ware for cooking

P.S.:

1. Ayurveda though is a slower process, but in case of weight loss: haste makes waste, so one has to be gradual in his approach.

2. It is wise to take vitamin and mineral supplementation during this period, to ensure that your body does not lack any nutrients

PS: remember that insufficient FAT weakens and damages your Immunity, Fat is an essential Dhatu and is good for you, in the proper amount so hatred of fat is self-hatred thus forgot about FAT; think about recreating yourself.

I've done the 4th week of kshar sutra operation. Then there was no problem but suddenly I was seeing pus getting out. What is the reason for this.

B.A.M.S, MD (Ayu) Kayachikitsa
Ayurveda, Shimla
I've done the 4th week of kshar sutra operation. Then there was no problem but suddenly I was seeing pus getting out....
Coming out of Pus is a sign of infection thus change the kshar sutra and give cover of antibiotics, also coming out of Pus is a good sign which means the secretion is not collecting inside otherwise it might have resulted in formation of another false tract (fistula). So whatever be the reason, INFECTION is there so manage the reason.
