Hello, It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Remember, there's no magic bullet for weight loss. The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. Choose a variety of healthy foods — such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean sources of protein — and include physical activity in your daily routine. Go through the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals. When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. 14: Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body! Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 3 months. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. (Slow and steady weight loss is good. As we all know when you lose weight fast, it seems to jump right back on, whereas when you lose weight steadily over time because of changes to your diet and balancing your hormones out it tends to stay off.) All the best!

I want to gain my weight how can I gain my weight?
Healthy Diet: While trying to gain weight, the focus should be more on eating healthy foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Healthy food includes meat, poultry, unsaturated plant fats, low-fat milk, healthy starch content, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. Sesame seeds, ground nuts, and peanuts also contain fats in them and can help in adding that extra pounds you desire. Sometimes loss of appetite may also cause weight loss. Research suggests that umami flavour inrceases satiety and enhances appetite.

Parsley is another leafy vegetable that is loaded with antioxidants and has luteolin that helps in removing free radicals in the body. •Make sure that you add the parsley in your daily diet either in salads or as a food flavor to improve your body metabolism. •You can also drink boiling water that has parsley soaked in it every day. •You can also extract juice from the parsley and drink this juice once in two days to see effective weight loss results.

Hello you need to understand the concept of weight loss. It's a gradual process that requires cut down in calories under the guidance of a dietitian and regular exercise. Don't skip breakfast. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Avoid fried foods, sweets, carbonated drinks and processed foods. Include whole grains, sprouts, seasonal fruits and vegetables, salad vegetables like cucumber, kakri, onion, tomato etc. Include green tea 4-5 times a day. Drink plenty of water. Take flaxseed powder 1 tsp with lukewarm water on empty stomach. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Take lots of green leafy vegetables, apples, pineapple, carrot and papaya for glowing skin. Thank you.

Hye. Thanks for the query. Like any too good to be true fat burner, these are just tall claims made. Most fat burners in my experience have majorly not worked. Most people take it as a “trial and error” product meaning that they only find out that most often it's not really effective after trying it. Keep in mind that some fat burners or pills have no scientific evidence or testimonials. Most people have experienced little or no difference at all after using a fat burner. Like any fat burner there are chances of side effects due to either poor nutrition. Even if you do lose weight it's almost loss of muscle mass and not so much of fats, which could easily show as a weight loss on the weighing scale. I would advise you to concentrate on inch loss rather than weight on scale. It's possible you are losing fats which may not show initially on the scale. The other thing possible is that you may be gaining some muscle weight. Lastly, you need to check on your diet. It's possible that you are not eating the right foods at the right time as needed by the body. Give yourself time. Weight loss can't be timed. It's been so long you gained weight, give it time to lose as well.

Hello sir, I want to reduce my stomach size from lower side, what to do? Please tell me.
You cannot work on a specific body part. You have to work on overall fat loss and toning. Try to eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Include exercises that tone your back and abdominal muscles too. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets and singular ab exercises or ab machines will not give you targeted results. The fats will remain as it is. It's all about overall work out and balanced diet.

Just Take This Vitamin And You Will be Mosquito free!

Acupuncturist, Mumbai
Just Take This Vitamin And You Will be Mosquito free!

Just take this vitamin and you will be mosquito free all summer long!

  • You surely often use mosquito repellents and they seem to prevent the itchy bites from these insects. Apparently, they are full of toxic chemicals which cause harmful side-effects if ingested or absorbed into the skin
  • Researchers have yet to pinpoint what exactly a mosquito looks for when searching for humans to bite, certain odors are thought to be a main culprit. People with high concentrations of steroids or cholesterol on their skin surface attract more mosquitoes, as well as those who produce excess amounts of certain acids, such as uric acid. All of these substances can trigger a mosquito’s sense of smell.
  • People who give off larger amounts of carbon dioxide, such as those who are overweight or pregnant, are mosquito magnets. People would give off more carbon dioxide if they’re outside playing kickball than they would if they were sitting by a fire.

Mosquitoes can carry diseases and spread them to humans such as:

Zika – linked to birth defectsdengue – can lead to hemorrhagic feverwest nile – causes fever, joint pain, vomiting and rashesmalaria – causes fever, chills and vomitingyellow fever – can cause jaundice, chills and vomitingchikungunya – can cause joint pain, rashes and nauseala crosse encephalitis – can cause fever and nausearift valley fever – can cause dizziness, weakness and eye damagejamestown canyon virus – can cause flu-like symptomssnowshoe hare virus – can cause dizziness, vomiting and rashes

There are more than 175 known species of mosquitoes in the united states, so it’s very important to learn how to protect yourself.

Vitamin b1 repels mosquitoes

Vitamin b1 (thiamine) is a water-soluble vitamin that your body needs to function properly and stay healthy. It can be found in foods such as broccoli, onions, green beans, summer squash, kale, spinach, cabbage, eggplant and sunflower seeds.

If you have enough vitamin b1 in your system, you’ll produce a “yeasty” smell to mosquitoes, making you unappealing for them. Don’t worry — people won’t be able to smell it! but when mosquitoes get a whiff, they’ll make their way to another target.

Another natural remedy

You can also try making this homemade bug spray. This recipe requires just two ingredients: fresh parsley and organic apple cider vinegar. This is how to prepare it:

Add a handful of fresh parsley to a mortar and pestle, 4 oz of apple cider vinegar, mash the ingredients and let the mixture sit for a few hours. Then, strain it and put it into a spray bottle. Keep the mix refrigerated for continued use. You can aad essential oils for a pleasant scent. This mix is perfectly safe for your skin and has no harmful side effects.

Yoga - Practice It Daily For A Stress Free Life!

MD
Yoga & Naturopathy Specialist, Delhi
Yoga - Practice It Daily For A Stress Free Life!

The entire humanity is now used to a fast paced, stressful life without time to think about their physical and mental health. Your body can adapt to this kind of lifestyle for a while. After which, one fine day, it might breakdown, with or without warning. Emotional stability is lost, and physical trauma is felt, and everyday activities may seem to be scary. Yoga comes to the rescue for all your problems. Be they physical or mental.

The real essence of Yoga lies around improving the life force at the base of the backbone. It attempts to achieve holistic goodness through various physical and mental workouts. Coming to the physical level, the procedures comprise of several postures or yogic asanas which can keep the body healthy, while on the mental level, there are some breathing techniques which helps in disciplining the mind. The benefits of Yoga are almost endless, and this is the reason why it has received international acclamation even when it had originated in India centuries ago.

How can Yoga aid you to live a better life?
No matter whether you are from the West or East, regular practice of Yoga can will offer tons of benefits which include:

  1. Improvement of flexibility: This is the most significant benefit of Yoga where you can improve your posture with each practice sessions. Inflexibility can bring about a lot of movement issues; tight hamstrings can flatten the lumbar spine while tight hips can cause strain to the knee. Daily Yoga can relieve the connective tissues while improving posture.
  2. Builds muscle strength: Strong muscles are not just meant for making you look good; it can protect you from conditions such as back pain, arthritis and falls among aged people. With regular practice of Yoga, you can see your muscles becoming stronger and flexible within a short span.
  3. Prevention of joint and cartilage breakdown: While practicing Yoga, all the major joints of the body runs through a roller coaster of motion. This can prevent degenerative arthritis and squeeze the parts of the cartilage which are not usually used.
  4. Improve the health of the bone: Several postures of Yoga demand you to bear your own weight such as the downward and the upward facing dog which also helps in making the bones in the arms stronger. Plus, Yoga is known to lower the cortisol levels which can boost the level of calcium in the bones.
  5. Protection of the spine: The spinal disks which help in absorbing shock crave for movement through which they get the nutrition. Yoga can get you optimum backbends, twists and forward bends to keep the disks in a supple condition.

How has Yoga helped in improving health condition?
Timothy McCall, MD, wanted to come to India to research and investigate on the benefits of Yoga in 2002. Weeks before that he developed tingling sensation along with numbness in his right hand. He was scared and thought that it was something serious like multiple sclerosis or a brain disease but found that he had a nerve blockage in the neck and chest.

Even though it was incapacitating to some extent, this ailment was a blessing in disguise as he could allow Yoga experts to evaluate the cause of the problem and treat it and his experiment reaped benefits. He practiced Pranayama which is a breathing exercise, different moves and chanting to restore vital energy to the affected parts. This had not only helped him to get rid of these problems but also made his body even more flexible, improved his postures and relieved him of various symptoms.

Basic Yoga asanas that can help maintain health

  1. Sukhasana
  2. Shavasana
  3. Balasana
  4. Vajrasana
  5. Bhujangasana
  6. Trikonasana
  7. Uttanasana
  8. Pashcimottanasana
  9. Eka Pada Rajakapotasana
  10. Ushtrasana

More real life examples can be cited where people suffering from chronic illness have gotten a complete relief by practicing Yoga. Across the world, this ancient Indian therapy has been acknowledged as an effective alternative therapy. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.
