Please get a comprehensive dilated eye examination with particlar attention to refractive error and eye muscle balance. Without knowing the cause it is difficult to provide a solution and in long run may harm your health.

MY eyesight is very weak I wear specs everyday. I do not like to wear specs. Doctor tell me your advice should I buy lens or not if yes than of which company. My eye no. Is 10.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 17 years so your number will not increase much now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik after age of 18 yrs.

I have red eyes and feeling pain in eyes what should I have to do? I use my laptop for a long time.

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
If you work on a computer all day, your eyes are probably under a lot of strain. Do yourself (and your eyes) a favor by taking a break for about 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent in front of the screen. Simply close your eyes for a minute or get up and walk around the office. Focus on something that isn’t a screen. You can also rest your eyes by following the 10-10-10 rule. This means you should look at something 10 feet away for 10 seconds for every 10 minutes you spend working on the computer!

How do I prevent eyestrain at my laptop & how do I keep my eye healty and I don't want to use specs ?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology

Avoid continuous stair at computer, washing eyes at frequent Intervals, eat fruits and yellow vegetables. You can remove the specs by either Lasik or ICL. The procedure is safe and easy without any problems.

Sir I have very week eyes my eyes power are -8.5 diopter is there are any kind of eyes surgery Available so I can reduce my eye power and turn my weak vision to normal? If yes then how much it cost?

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Hello, for spectacle removal you can go for lasik surgery but to ascertain whether you are a suitable candidate for this you have to get some tests done in an eye clinic to calculate your corneal thickness and see its contour. Your eye power should also be stable for atleast 6 months before you opt for surgery. To prevent retinal degenerative changes due to high number take balanced diet with more green vegetables and fruits. Take some multivitamin supplements and fish or fish oil. Take care.

I have short sightedness. I want to remove spectacles. Is there any way to do it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, DO the below given exercises to strengthen your eye muscles;- 1. Palm your eyes:-Sit comfortably in a chair. Rub your hands together until they feel warm. Close your eyes and cover them lightly with your cupped palms. Avoid applying pressure to your eyeballs. Make sure no light can enter your eyes though gaps between your fingers Take deep breaths slowly and evenly while thinking of a calming scene, like an empty beach, a clear lake, or a still mountain. Once you see nothing but blackness, remove your palms from your eyes. Repeat the palming for 3 minutes or more. 2. Massage your eyes. This will help to improve blood circulation around your eyes and face. ***Add salmon, eggs , dark choclates, apricots, spinach, carrots, soy to your diet.***

Am not feeling well while working in computer. irritation start in my eyes and feels dryness.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily

I have one eye less visible. But the other eye functions as usual. What should I do to cure it?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, What's the power of your eyes? Get eyes tested by an eye specialist. Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

I am 39 years old having some spot (like massa) on my eyes is it due to high cholesterol?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain.garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

I have my son Who is 6 years old. He can see with only one eye other eye's eye ball is whitish in color and its blind. He is not able to speak properly till now, he can say some words like amma, appa, Anna, atta, one two, some alphabets and etc but not all words. He understand everything, he operates any smart phone like an expert but he could not speak as much as he should have spoken at his age. Doctor did a scanning and said his brain is not well developed as per his age so consult nimhans hospital in Bangalore. I am married to one of my family member and even before my marriage, my mom dad, granny are all inter family marriage for 2-3 generations, may be that's the impact. Could you please suggest me what is the right step that we should take next.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hello lybrate-user. I am genuinely sorry about your son's problem. Coming to your query, genetic disorders of the eyes and the body are more common in consanguineous marriages (marriage within the family members). Disorders of the eyes such as retinitis pigmentosa, heredomacular degeneration, color blindness tend to occur more commonly. Developmental disorders arise more frequently. Regarding the white eye, it could be due to a variety of causes such as congenital cataract, tumor in the eye, cornea problem of the eye, etc. I am sure you must have had it valuated by an eye specialist when your son was younger. Unfortunately, if the eye has been white and blind for more than 3-4 years, the chances of it being subject to treatment and recovering vision are less. In case the whiteness of the eye has appeared recently and the vision has dropped recently, you should get it promptly evaluated by your eye specialist. The reason being that certain caused for childhood blindness are curable and there is good scope for vision recovery. Another thing that I wanted to mention is regarding family planning. In case you are planning another child, you should be aware of the fact that there are chances of similar/ different eye disorders or systemic issues in the second child as well. In this regard, you might want to consider adoption. There are a few genetic tests available that can be performed during pregnancy that help to detect/ predict any problems that might arise in the child after birth. These tests are not 100 percent predictive. Also the fact that they are associated with a few risks. Thus, according to me, a good idea would be to consider adoption.

Due to dryness( computer vision syndrome)you are having all these problems ,while working on computer number of blinking drastically goes down from around 24 per minute to around 8 per minute causing severe dryness .one should try to have normal blinking while working on laptop or smartphone & look away from laptop after every 10 minute & take rest for 10 minute after every two hours. You should also use lubricating eye drops 5-6 times regularly (Refresh liquigel) if you are IT professionals or working on computer for long hours

Dear lybrate-user, very sad! your uncle beating aunt violently, it is very bad, he might be having misunderstanding with your aunt, you haven't mentioned why he is showing his violent nature towards your aunt. Any how his sadistic actions indicating that he is facing psychological problems either your uncle is not happy with your aunt, or they have conflicts. As you are worried about aunt inform your parents amiable manner so as elders they can find solution to their problems coming to you, you have shifted to your home it is good, otherwise facing these situations in this age may hamper your studies, career and future. To overcome from this situation you speak to your parents and elders to find the solution of their problem by sitting together solve the problem with discussion you just relax and try to forget the what was happened try to shift your self in making your self busy in your studies and career. Practice meditation regularly meet your positive friends, have good time with them read positive, motivational books after coming out from the situation concentrate on your career/ studies all the best!
