Keyhole Breast Reduction

MCh - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS

Keyhole Breast Reduction

Women who have abnormally large breasts usually tend to develop them during adolescence or during pregnancy. Large breasts can cause physiological problems apart from being unsightly. Some of the problems commonly reported by women include back and neck problems. Let's explore one of the most common methods of breast reduction known as the keyhole method.

What is the keyhole method of breast reduction?
The Keyhole method of breast reduction is the most commonly prescribed form of breast reduction surgery. In this method the doctor places an anchor or a keyhole shaped incision around the areola extending to the underside of the breast. Then a small device is inserted to melt fat and a low power vacuum is used to extract it. After this is done the area is stitched up reducing the breast size.

The extent of the incision:
The length and breadth of the incision can vary from case to case. However, the following areas usually tend to have scarring:

  1. The area around the nipple known as the areola: A round circular incision is made around the areola to open up this section of the breast.
  2. Downwards from the areola to underside of the breast: This is where the keyhole shape comes into prominence as this is an extension of the incision to open up the breast.
  3. The area on the underside of the breast along a horizontal curve: This may vary in extent from patient to patient depending upon how much tissue needs to be removed and thus may be larger or smaller.

The advantages of keyhole method of breast reduction:
There are many valid reasons why this method is the most prescribed and most popular form of breast reduction. Let's look at some of the reasons below.

  1. The most minimally invasive method: Conventional breast reduction may employ techniques, which open up the breast, which is a longer and more complicated form of surgery, and thus the keyhole method being the least invasive has its own advantages.
  2. Lesser scars: With other forms of breast reduction, the scars along the incision lines may be much larger. With the keyhole method, much of the scarring is hidden away due the shape of the incision as well as the size being smaller.
  3. Quicker healing: Most forms of keyhole surgery use liposculpture or the extraction of fat rather than full excision of tissues and thus it generally translates to quicker healing. Even in cases where excision is performed, healing still tends to be quicker with this method as the incisions tend to be smaller.

Tips For Pregnancy

If you have developed sciatic nerve pain during your pregnancy, try shifting your side and sleep with as many pillows as you feel comfortable with. Also, if you lie on your side with your upper leg bent at the knee and supported by a pillow, the pressure on the sciatic nerve can be relieved.

I would advice you to see a general surgeon to consider removal of gall bladder. Also get a usg pelvis done to rule out any pathology in the uterus and ovaries.

I am 25 years old female. Need to know the maximum sugar levels during pregnancy.
If you had diabetes before being pregnant, fasting sugar level should be between 60-99 mg/dl, and after meal (1-2 hour) it should be between 100-129 mg/dl. But if you have developed diabetes during pregnancy (gestational diabetes, then fasting it should be less than 96 mg/dl and after meal (1-2 hour) should be less than 120 mg/dl.

The changes in your body is not unnatural after childbirth. Both the breasts and abdomen can be corrected surgically and brought back into proper shape and size.

Infertility treatment particularly for induction of ovulation, is long time treatment is required with patience as lot of trials with different doses of same drug then different drugs are tried. It is better to meet Gyjnecologist or infertility specialist in whom you have trust to whom you can go often and for long time. You must inform her/him old treatment carried out and old reports to save your time. Changing doctors invariably brings about repeat of same treatment. Because of your age better not to waste time and fastest possible results will be with IVF.

I don't know whether you were informed or not that one of the complications of termination of pregnancy is to have difficulties in keeping pregnancy in future. However at the moment consult gynaecologist who with history, examination and reports will decide what to do.

First thing is to do evaluation of your husband’s sperm count. If its normal than you should get your examination, lab reports and ultrasound. If everything is normal than keep relation during fertile days. Usually fertile days are between 12 and 18 days of your normal menstrual cycle. Remaining days are relatively infertile. Still if you do not get result than should do IUI treatment.

Hormonal Problems In Women - Homeopathic Remedies For It!

Hormonal imbalance is very common in women who are about to reach their menopause. The setting of menopause can lead to a variety of symptoms like moodiness and depression to hot flashes, insomnia and vaginal dryness. Homeopathy has remedies which are very helpful in relieving the symptoms of menopause, when chosen for an individual as per their history. Homeopathy stimulates the person's healing response to a certain stimulus, allowing the person to heal on their own.

Here are a few homeopathic remedies:

  1. Pulsatilla: This is for women who are mild, sensitive and weep very easily during the perimenopause stage. These women might whine when unhappy and are very depressed and sad. The women who need this medication prefer company, companionship and support. She is often uncomfortable and warm in hot rooms especially while experiencing hot flashes. The remedy is helpful in cases of insomnia and empty nest syndrome, a syndrome when children leave home. This often coincides with change in a woman's life. Pulsatilla is very helpful for hormonal imbalance including during the menstrual cycle and peri-menopause phase.
  2. Cimicifuga: This is recommended for those women who suffer from severe headaches during perimenopause. The headaches are characterized by a pain in the right side of the neck, which often extends to the right shoulder. This remedy is also helpful in women who feel disappointed and trapped in their lives. Some women who have a feeling of being caged and surrounded by dark clouds also benefit from this. It is considered to be a perfect remedy for many women who experience hormonal changes at the menopausal stage of their lives.
  3. Sepia: This remedy is especially helpful for perimenopause and hormonal imbalances. This is helpful in women who feel exhausted and chilly. Sometimes a woman might develop an aversion to her family members especially the children and does not want to care for them. Sepia is known to help women overcome these feelings, enables them to reestablish stability and balances hormones. Some women also get a feeling that their inside are bearing out and get a sensation that their uterus and vagina might fall. This feeling and sensation is eliminated by sepia. Sepia is also helpful for the host flashes, dryness, vaginal irritation and moodiness during this phase of their life.
  4. Lachesis: This is indicated in the perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms like the night sweats and hot flashes. This remedy is capable to provide a relief from the occipital headaches associated with the changing hormones. Women who need lachesis might be witty, loquacious, nasty, crib and complain about the body pains which are more significant on the left side, like the left ovary discomfort. This remedy also relieves insomnia and depression related with the hormonal swings. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopathic doctor and ask a free question.

Hi, there is sometimes slight variation in the flow and amount of flow, don't worry. But if this is happening for long time then do get blood tested for cbc, esr, hb% and an ultrasound (pelvis) done to rule out pcod. Medication: take homoeopathic medicines - alfaalfa tonic and five phos. - both thrice daily, and let me know about your condition after a month. Management: daily intake more of healthy, nutritious and balanced food which includes green vegetables, seasonal fruits, salads, legumes, pulses, eggs, milk & milk products, oats, cornflakes, muesli, nuts, lean meat (chicken & few seafood), etc. Keep yourself well-hydrated by taking at least 10-12 glasses of water in a day, also increase intake of other fluids like coconut water, shikanji, jaljeera, gulkand, rooh-afza, lassi, curd, etc. Which has got cooling effect on the body during this hot summer weather. Sleep for 6-9 hrs at night and 1-2 hrs. During daytime. Avoid going out or playing under the sun, best time is after sunset. Wear a hat with broad brim, wear sunglasses whenever you are out in the sun. Don't awake late nights, follow motto of'early to bed, early to rise' avoid unnecessary exertion or stress. Revert.

Not early maturation is not a problem, yes there are chances that you can conceive in this cycle also. If you are not able to conceive naturally for 3-4 months then you can go for iui.
