What is cpld food? Then what shall I give to my lactose intolerant 10 month old baby.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
What is cpld food? Then what shall I give to my lactose intolerant 10 month old baby.
If you have already started your baby on solid foods, you can cut down on dairy other than your breastmilk. But curd is fine as it does not contain any lactase. So you can prepare a nice lassi for your little one or give him some raita. Those who are lactose intolerant can often handle small amounts of dairy if they eat it with other foods. If you are formula feeding, your doctor may advise you to switch to a lactose-free or soya based formula for two weeks or so as your baby gets over his lactose intolerence. If your child is older and tests have confirmed he is lactose intolerant, then you may have to make some dietary changes like: Feeding reduced portions of dairy-based foods in combination with non-dairy foods. Not giving a large glass of milk and offering a small portion along with a meal to aid digestion. Choosing foods with less lactose such as curd, paneer and hard cheeses, as they are better tolerated. Substituting milk with soyamilk, almond milk, rice milk or fortified fruit juices. Substituting dairy products with leafy greens, tofu, broccoli, nuts, soya beans, dried fruit. Before you make any changes to your child's diet, always consult a dietitian or a doctor. They can help you plan better. In order to maintain a normal healthy metabolism, everything we eat or drink should be close to our body’s normal temperature. However, particularly in hot weather or as a matter of habit, almost everyone likes to drink cold beverages or eat cold foods (like ice cream) without noticing the potential problems that will be encountered or connecting it to the temperature of the food or drink you take into your body.

hi thanks for your query first of all I would like to tell you that its written pattern is completely disturbed. as per as the dietary habits are concerned first thing you can do is to stop his milk as it is not required at all at this age of 4 years second think the bottle feeding itself will cards abdominal distention as baby swallows air along with milk during bottle feed... also kindly focus on eat daily pattern of motions I would like to suggest you to stop hits afternoon sleep also as he should have a sound sleep during night over at a stretch for minimum 8 to 10 hours which is very important for mental growth of baby

There is no any best ingredient to add in milk.Milk itself is best. If your baby is more than 6 months and is on weaning stage, you may add in milk after grinding fine and if he is older enough to chew, leave him free to choose items of his choice that shall make him familiar.

Avoid giving milk. Its high time you stop milk. This age group solid food is more helpful than just liquid milk.

Asthma in Children: Diagnosis and Treatment

MAMC, MRCPCH, MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Noida
Asthma in Children: Diagnosis and Treatment

Has your child been coughing frequently? Is the cough chronic in nature, making your child breathe rapidly and does he/she complain about a tightened chest? These symptoms signify that your child is having asthma. Asthma is a medical condition characterized by paroxysmal wheezing respiration dyspnoea. It is common in children and an affected child experiences difficulty in breathing, and a whizzing sound is produced, especially during expiration. Asthma may lead to severe health complications and needs immediate diagnosis and treatment.

Diagnosis: The diagnosis of asthma is based on the symptoms, medical history and a physical examination of the child.

The different modes of asthma diagnosis are as follows:

  1. Medical history and symptoms: You must tell the doctor about any history of breathing trouble with your child or whether there are chances of other inherited health conditions. You must explain your child's symptoms properly, which may include coughing, wheezing, chest pain or tightness and others if observed.
  2. Physical examination: A physical exam will be carried out in your child where the doctor will listen to his heart and lungs, and look for eye or nose allergies.
  3. Medical tests: A chest X-ray of the child has to be carried out, along with a simple lung function test known as spirometry. This test measures the amount of air present in the lungs and determines how fast it can be exhaled. Spirometry enables a doctor to determine the severity of the asthma. Some other tests are also carried out for the identification of asthma triggers. They include allergy skin testing, blood tests and X-rays to know if sinus infections are affecting the asthma. An asthma test determines the amount of nitric oxide in your child's breath.

Treatment: Based on your child's severity of asthma symptoms and his medical history, the doctor will provide you with an action plan to treat the same. This action plan explains all the medications your child requires, the dosage and schedule of the medicines. The plan also includes points on what to do when the asthma worsens and when an emergency treatment is required. Anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed to children who require bronchodilator medication. All asthma medicines used by adults can be used in case of children but in lower dosages.

You should give the asthma medications to your child using a home nebulizer or a breathing machine. A nebulizer delivers asthma drugs by transforming them from liquid to a mist. The child gets the drug by breathing it via a face mask.

In order to control and manage asthma in children, they must avoid the triggers and should keep away from any source of smoke. A doctor must be consulted to know about the best diagnosis and treatment methods.

Hi Congratulations on your new journey as a parent. You have been doing a good job by exclusively breastfeeding the baby. Well done. If you think the milk supply is Getting lower you could ask your obstetrician to prescribe medicine s to enhance breastmilk production. Also drink plenty of water and have lots of time with the baby. Continuing to feed frequently will increase your milk supply and try not to stress yourself, the more calm you are the more you can concentrate on the baby which will help with the release of hormones needed for milk production. Good luck.

I'm a breast feeding mom all of suddenly I got fever and cold, doc suggested not to feed baby until I get cured, but unfortunately the milk left over in my breast is paining a lot pls give me Solution urgent I can't handle this pain.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
There is no rationale in asking you not to feed. If airborne the infection may/or will spread as you obviously handle a baby. Absolutely no need to stop feeding. Keep on feeding and do not deny baby his nutrition. This will relieve pain and baby gets feed as well.

Your baby is already 10 months. Reduce breast milk intake with complemepntary feeds which you do already. Do not breast feed when child is v hungry or when not much of milk is avaible to the kid. Help with complementary feed prior to breast feed. When ullcerated, avoid that breast for suckling, instead express milk by years hand or pump and feed the baby with a container. Use masse cream for nipple healing.
