While the exact cause of PCOS is unknown, doctors believe that hormonal imbalances and genetics play a role. Women are more likely to develop PCOS if their mother or sister also has the condition. Overproduction of the hormone androgen may be another contributing factor. Androgen is a male sex hormone that women’s bodies also produce. Women with PCOS often produce higher-than-normal levels of androgen. This can affect the development and release of eggs during ovulation. Excess insulin (a hormone that helps convert sugars and starches into energy) may cause high androgen levels.

My friend is planning for a baby. She is a regular smoker but now she is trying to quit. Suggest what she should do now?
It is best she tapers off the number of smokes she takes and then permanantly quit this bad habit. It has been shown in scientific researches, women suffer even more than men from the ill effects of smoking, especially those upon the heart and lungs.

Focus on low-impact cardio workouts since most women who have very large breasts simply cannot do high-impact exercises like jogging or running. Do low-impact cardio exercises on equipment like a stationary bike, treadmill or elliptical trainer for 45 minutes, at least 5 days a week. When exercising, always wear a well-fitted sports bra to prevent sagging breasts. 2.massage :Apply warm olive or coconut oil on your breasts. Using your middle finger and ring finger, massage each of the breasts in circular motions and upward direction for 10 minutes. Repeat the massage twice daily for at least 3 months to notice size reduction. 3.Green tea is also effective in aiding weight loss and reducing breast size. 1Add 1 teaspoon of green tea leaves to a cup of hot water. 2Cover and steep for a few minutes. 3Strain, then add a little honey. 4Drink 3 to 4 cups of green tea daily for at least a few months. 4. Aerobic exercise 5.1Boil 1 teaspoon of grated ginger in 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. 2Strain, add a little honey and sip it slowly. 3Drink 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea daily. 6.Flaxseeds contain omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce estrogen levels in the body. A high estrogen level is one of the reasons behind enlarged breasts. In addition, flaxseeds aid in removing harmful toxins from the body. •Add 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds to a glass of hot water. Drink it once daily. •Another option is to take 1 to 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil daily.

Hi lybrate-user, While you can use some medicines to overcome irregular menstrual cycle, they may have undesirable side effects. But you can try natural home remedies for irregular periods. 1. Yoga: When you undertake yoga exercises, you are helping your body release endorphins which help the body deal with stress easily. It does not mean that you limit yourself to yoga alone since many types of exercises can be undertaken with the same or even better results. It all depends on how much your body can take and how much you are willing to do. You do not have to work out for hours on end. Rather, simply taking a few minutes to physically engage your body can do the trick. In fact, physical exercises that are too heavy also lead to irregular periods and should thus be avoided. 2. Dietary Changes: The solution to this problem is eating a healthy and balanced diet. However, while a balanced diet will provide you with the nutrients you need, you can eat specific foods that target the menstrual cycle to help in normalizing it. These foods include some of the most common home remedies for irregular periods such as: cinnamon, raw papaya, pineapples. 3. Eliminate Stress: Stress is one of the major causes of irregular periods and it can be solved easily. Some of the most common ways of eliminating or preventing stress include: / Trigger identification; the first step to eliminating or preventing stress is to identify exactly what causes it. Once you do, it would be much easier seeking a solution directed at the problem than having no direction in your pursuit of a stress-free life. / Good food; don’t always fulfil your cravings for sweet and salty foods as they are not the healthiest. A good diet will give you the energy you need to tackle stressful situations. / Exercising; already mentioned as one of the best home remedies for irregular periods, exercising may take different forms depending on your fitness targets, time available and financial position. / Meditation; you can find some still and quiet time through meditation which has been proven to be a very important stress reliever with scientific evidence. / Enough sleep; sleep is one of the most ignored aspects of the body. Very few people know exactly how many hours they need to be asleep to stay healthy. While sleeping too much has its effects on the body, too little sleep is more harmful to your health than most people know. 4. Ginger: Ginger, a natural herb that everyone uses, can help in dealing with menstrual pain and also regulating menstrual cycles. It is highly beneficial since it promotes menstruation and thus can help in dealing with irregular periods or missed periods. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
