Severe dental pain in seemingly healthy tooth should be properly evaluated. Patient history of past illness is important as simply chicken pox might affect your healthy teeth and cause severe pain in otherwise healthy tooth.

Usually mouth ulcers occur due to deficiency of vitamins or due to any sharp tooth or filling and infection. Take balanced diet with fruits and veggies which contains vitamins & minerals and water. As you are suffering from recurrent ulcers for that you need an oral examination by dentist. This condition is known as apthous ulcers. Pay a visit to your dentist and get a check up done. I hope that will help you.

Before taking any medicines you have to consult a dentist because jaw and ear pain is something related to your temperomandibular joint. That is the joint between your jaw and your skull. There might be some problem with the joint. So refer a dentist as soon as possible.

I am having difficulties swallowing food and water. And the end of my mouth is hurting badly. Please help

You might be haiving third molar erupting in your mouth called as pericoronitis. The difficulty in swallowing and drinking can be because of this. Symptoms of pericoronitis can include: pain infection swelling in the gum tissue (caused by an accumulation of fluid) a" bad taste" in the mouth (caused by pus leaking from the gums) swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck difficulty opening the mouth if the pericoronitis is limited to the tooth (for example, if the pain and swelling has not spread), treat it by rinsing your mouth with warm salt water. You should also make sure that the gum flap has no food trapped under it. If your tooth, jaw, and cheek are swollen and painful, see your dentist right away. He or she can treat the infection with antibiotics (usually penicillin, unless you are allergic). You can also take pain relievers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen. The dentist may also prescribe a pain medication. If the pain and inflammation are severe, or if the pericoronitis recurs, it may be necessary to have oral surgery to remove the gum flap or wisdom tooth. Your dentist can make the appropriate referral to the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. A low-level laser can be used to reduce pain and inflammation associated with pericoronitis.

Why is Coconut SO good for you?

Why is Coconut SO good for you?
Apart from its use in many Indian homes for traditional reasons, coconut has several health benefits to offer -

1) Helps diabetics by slowing sugar release into the bloodstream.
2) Boosts metabolism and increases energy because it is more likely to be burned as fuel than stored as body fat.
3) Helps treat malnutrition because it is easy to digest and absorb.
4) Kills disease-causing bacteria, fungi, yeasts and viruses because of the antimicrobial effects of its fatty acids.
5) Prevents strokes and brain disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
6) Prevent tooth decay - coconut oil fights bacteria responsible for tooth decay and could be a healthy, non-chemical additive in toothpaste and mouthwash.

I usually gets mouth sores(white) once or twice in a month. Please advice me what should I do to get rid off from this problem.

BDS, Non-Resident J.R. in Dept. of Orthodontics, Certified oral implantologist, Advanced Aesthetics, Digital Smile Designer
Dentist, Jammu
Please mention the region of mouth sores. Whether it is because of sharp edges of teeth or any other cause(vitamin deficiency). Mouth ulcers can be caused by a wide range of factors including: accidental biting of the cheek injury from a toothbrush (such as slipping while brushing) constant rubbing against misaligned or sharp teeth constant rubbing against dentures or braces poor oral hygiene burns from eating hot food irritation from strong antiseptics, such as a mouthwash oral thrush infection herpes simplex viral infection (cold sore) reaction to certain drugs, such as chemotherapeutic agents autoimmune diseases (for example, lichen planus) syphilis infection a range of other infections including hand-foot-mouth syndrome certain diseases including tuberculosis, aids, diabetes mellitus and inflammatory bowel disease cancer of the lip. Treatment is cause related, but also symptomatic if the underlying cause is unknown or not correctable. It is also important to note that most ulcers will heal completely without any intervention. Treatment can range from simply smoothing or removing a local cause of trauma, to addressing underlying factors such as dry mouth or substituting a problem medication. Maintaining good oral hygiene and use of an antiseptic mouthwashes/sprays (e. G. Chlorhexidine) can prevent secondary infection and therefore hasten healing. A topical analgesic (e. G. Benzydamine mouthwash) may reduce pain. Topical (gels, creams or inhalers) or systemic steroids may be used to reduce inflammation. An antifungal drug may be used to prevent oral candidiasis developing in those who use prolonged steroids[ 4] people with mouth ulcers may prefer to avoid hot or spicy foods, which can increase the pain[ 1] self-inflicted ulceration can be difficult to manage, and psychiatric input may be required in some people.

You get scaling and polishing done for the teeth. If not satisfied with the results go for bleaching of teeth. For better cosmetic results you can plan for veneering of teeth.

Dear Sir/Mame-I'm suffering from bad breathe from 10 to 15 years. But my teeth is clean & so much white. I'm brushing twice a day. I feel dry mouth problem. I don't have any bad habits like smoking, drinking & many more. But only some time I'm eating happy dent chewing gum. I'm 23 years old & I'm 2nd year student, this problem is not good for me. And I'm always taking care of my teeth. Pls suggest me 1 best mouth wash. And please plz help me. I'm waiting. Thank You.

Dentist, Gurgaon
as you said you have dry mouth problem, bad breath problem you have is dude to this only. dry mouth causes bacteria to act fast over small food particles settled over teeth and tongue. drink lots of water. also visit a dentist for professional cleaning of your teeth and follow this every 6 months to one year. also only brushing can't solve the purpose, flossing and tongue cleaning are equally important.
