Infertility is always connected to the menstrual cycle, ovulation, and hormonal imbalance. Many women, unfortunately, have no idea about these and are filled with misapprehensions. Many women do not know that irregular periods and infertility are linked. If you have irregular periods, then you need to correct it first to ensure that you can get pregnant. Anovulation is the common reason for irregular periods and infertility. You can simply assume that irregular cycles mean that you are not ovulating, and infertility is resulting because of that.
Delusions of the dark blood: One of the common delusions of infertile women is that they think the menstrual blood is dirty. When their blood has clots, their fears reach new heights. Dark blood is completely normal during the menstrual cycle. Red hemoglobin pigment in the blood is converted to black hematin because of the pH in the vagina. When women are not aware of this and they think that this is the dirt built up in the uterus, and it prevents them from getting pregnant. Infertility is also connected with scanty menses by many women. They feel that the lack of flow is a sign that the bad blood is collected in the uterus. It has to be understood that the uterus of a woman has no space to collect blood. It can only magically expand to hold a baby. The flow of periods can differ from woman to woman. Even in women with no problems such as infertility and PCOS, the flow can be less. The fact is that women who have given birth do not bother about the quantity of blood flow. Many women are also not aware of the fact that the passage of blood and tissues are different. They feel they are miscarrying when there are clots and heavy discharge during their periods.
Eerie Endometriosis: Few women suffer from endometriosis. This is common in both fertile and infertile women. The inner lining of the uterus grows in abnormal locations in such cases, This can be also found in the ovary. When it forms a cyst, it is called chocolate cyst. The name comes from its tarry and thick appearance. When the doctor shows this on the ultrasound scan, many women are happy for they have found the reason for infertility, and can have a baby now when the cyst is removed. At times, the reason can be flawed, and even the doctor knows this. While a minimally invasive surgery can be performed to remove the cysts, there are additional factors that can cause infertility. So, don’t think chocolate cyst to be the sole responsible factor.
A complete set of investigations are recommended for both the male and female partners. This is the only way to find the underlying cause. Based on this a doctor can arrive at a solution. Your requirement for IVF or other treatment methods can be calculated only after this. Do not resort to products that claim to clean the uterus or strengthen it to lead to a pregnancy. Check with your doctor and undergo the tests advised by them. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
The final step of the IVF treatment process, the retrieval and implantation of the developed embryo can be an exciting but stressful milestone in the journey of many couples undergoing fertility treatment. The successful implantation depends on mostly two major factors – the quality of the embryo and the receptiveness of the uterus. But apart from this, there are several things that you can do to increase the chance of a successful implantation. Here are some tips to help you:
1. Request the most experienced doctor
Most clinics will tell you that the embryo transfer is routine and not really a risky step. But it is always good to ensure that you’re getting the best care. Therefore, insist that the senior doctor or consultant in the team carries out your embryo transfer so that you can have the peace of mind that he or she has a steady hand and won’t accidentally nick something in the process.
2. Take folic acid, along with multivitamins
Folic acid has been known to reduce the risk of birth defects, in both natural pregnancies and ones through IVF. It is advisable to take one tablet of folic acid a day from at least 3 months before you start IVF treatment. Talk to your doctor about the dosage and also consider taking a multivitamin which combines folic acid, vitamin D and all the B vitamins.
3. If you are over 40, consider transferring 2 embryos
The chances of implantation can be reduced after the age of 35. Thus, research suggests that it may be advisable for women above the age of 40 to transfer more than one embryo to ensure success of the treatment.
4. Don’t take bed rest after your embryo transfer
It is a myth that bed rest helps in successful embryo transfer. In reality, relaxing and staying upright can be much more helpful. On the contrary, strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and extremes of temperatures should be avoided as they may cause uterine contractions and can cause failure of implantation. Instead, consider taking a walk or have a good meal instead.
5. Eat as if you are already pregnant
There are several misconceptions on the internet about what you should or should not eat before and after your IVF treatment. However, such “implantation diets” or “miracle diets” can be nothing more than a myth. The best thing you can do is to have the same balanced diet during treatment and throughout your pregnancy – nutritionally balanced with necessary protein, fiber and vegetables.
Every woman’s body is different; therefore what may work for someone else may not work for you. However, you can implement these tips which are based on medical facts to ensure that your embryo transplant and subsequent pregnancy goes smoothly, without any complications. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an Assistive Reproductive Technology (ART) which involves extracting eggs from the ovary of a woman, and fertilizing them with sperm in the laboratory. The fertilized egg, known as the embryo, can be frozen for storage or be transferred to the uterus. This method is usually used as a method to circumnavigate infertility. People who are unable to conceive opt for IVF treatment. Like any other medical procedure, IVF involves quite a few rare complications -
Complications during egg-retrieval pro
Although this procedure is essentially painless and quick, in certain cases people may experience excessive bleeding from the ovaries or suffer an injury to other organs surrounding the ovary like the blood vessels, bladder or the bowel. People who’ve had a pelvic infection previously, are prone to having a severe infection after the treatment.
IVF increases your possibility of multiple pregnancy if multiple embryos are implanted in the uterus. This results in additional concerns and risks associated with low-weight birth, early labor or premature delivery.
Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome
This is probably one of the most critical complications of IVF treatment. Use of fertility drugs like Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) which is used to induce ovulation, can cause swelling and pain in the ovaries, leading to ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome. This particular condition may come with severe or mild symptoms - abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. In rare cases, ovarian cysts or accumulation of fluid may occur in the abdominal cavity.
Ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage
IVF treatment can lead to ectopic pregnancy among 2-5% of women. This occurs when the eggs are implanted anywhere outside your uterus, usually in the fallopian tube. Since the fertilized eggs fail to survive outside your uterus, the pregnancy is discontinued. Also, chances of a miscarriage are slightly increased due to the use of frozen embryos.
The rate of success of IVF treatment largely depends on various factors such as maternal age, reproductive history, lifestyle factors and causes behind infertility. It is advisable that you get yourself diagnosed and tested before undergoing an IVF treatment.
I am 29 years old my prolactin level was 4.2 on dec 2017 but now I take test for prolactin and its increase from 4.2 to 28.01 on may 2018 and I am facing problem in conceiving I am also facing headache so I want to know that 28 level prolactin create any difficulty in conceiving.
IVF treatments can be physically, emotionally and financially draining. If you are considering IVF to help you conceive, here are a few things you should keep in mind before you embark on the journey:
1. Research the process before selecting a clinic
Before committing yourself to the IVF treatment, you should try to understand the treatment process and what is involved in each step. Thus being well-informed about the process can help you prepare mentally for the physical and emotional changes that accompany IVF treatment.
2. It can be very time consuming
The IVF process can be more like a marathon than a sprint in which there are no guarantees. For some couples it can be successful after one or two cycles, while for others it can take a few years. It can be really disheartening for many women if it doesn’t work the first time, but that doesn’t mean it will never work. Still, it is good to discuss with your partner about how far you’re willing to go, both financially and emotionally, to have a baby.
3. Make sure you’re as healthy as possible
Being healthy, both physically and mentally, can increase the chances of success of any fertility treatment. Thus adopting a healthy, balanced diet and going on a suitable fitness program can be a good start towards your IVF journey. Women who drink alcohol more than 3 times a week and women who smoke have reduced chances of conceiving. Also, being medically overweight can also lead to complications in the fertility process.
4. Timing is key
Experts recommend that women should avoid starting fertility treatments during stressful periods, such as moving to a new job or while moving into a new house.
5. It is completely normal to be moody
Hormonal treatments such as the IVF process can make you quite moody because of the dramatic hormonal fluctuations caused by the different hormones being injected. Don’t be flustered or worried about sudden changes in your emotions during the process, it is absolutely normal to experience such changes.
6. The injections can cause some side effects
Two side effects of the IVF injections can be breast tenderness and abdominal bloating. The injections can also cause bruising at the site, but nothing too severe. Many side effects can mimic the symptoms of PMS that can go on for about 2 weeks or so.
7. It can take a toll on your relationship
Fertility treatments can be stressful for both the partners in a relationship and can even impact their sex life after the treatments. It is important to communicate with your partner about any problems or concerns you have instead of bottling up your emotions.
The most important thing to keep in mind while undergoing fertility treatments is to not lose hope. It may be very taxing both physically and emotionally, and might take more time than expected, but the rewards are worth it.
