Respected doctor when I am having headache I used to dip my eyes and face in cold water. Is it good or bad for my eyes.
Hello,,lybrate user, It indicates your headache is better on cold application but unusual dipping of your eyes & head ,frequently might complicate the situation catching cold, irritating facial skin & eye lids. Go for meditation to calm your nerve reducing stress. Tk, plenty of water to hydrate by our body ,eliminating toxins. Ensure, sound sleep for 6/7 hrs. Tk, care.

Hello. As your case is very chronic, there are very remote chances of improvement. But still would suggest you to take homoeopathic medicines which tell you as there are no side effects of these medicines! At least you can try. Take Arnica 1M and Causticum 1M - both once daily for 1 month.

there can be many causes to this like migraine/ trigeminal neuralgia or simple refractive error or eye muscle weakness. i suggest you show to an ophthalmologist for complete eye examination under slit lamp, get your refraction and orthoptics done to rule out eye power or muscle weakness. if these are negative, then you must show to a physician/neurologist for migraine or cluster headache etc.

What to do and what not to do when we are wearing contact lens and how many hours can we wear it?

What to do and what not to do when we are wearing contact lens and how many hours can we wear it?
Here are some useful tips on contact lens wear and care to help you get the best out of your contact lenses. Do Have regular check-ups as advised by your practitioner Always wash and dry your hands prior to handling your lenses Always rub, rinse and store your lenses in the recommended solution before and after each use (except single-use lenses, which should be discarded after each wear) Always clean the lens case with solution, wipe with a clean tissue then air-dry after each use by placing the case and lids face down on a tissue Always apply the same lens first to avoid mixing them up Check the lens is not inside out before applying Check the lens is not damaged before applying Handle carefully to avoid damaging the lens Apply your lenses before putting on make-up Remove lenses then remove make-up Keep your eyes closed when using hairspray or other aerosols Replace your lens case at least monthly Discard lenses and solutions that are past their expiry date Wear only the lenses specified by your contact lens practitioner Stick strictly to the recommended wearing schedule and replacement frequency Make sure you have an adequate supply of replacement lenses or a spare pair Have an up-to-date pair of spectacles for when you need to remove your lense Don’t Use tap water, or any other water, on your lenses or lens case Wet your lenses with saliva Put a lens on the eye if it falls on the floor or other surface, without cleaning and storing again Apply a lens if it is dirty, dusty or damaged Continue to wear your lenses if your eyes don’t feel good, look good, or see well Re-use or top up solution – discard and replace with fresh solution each time lenses are stored Decant solution into smaller containers Wear lenses left in the case for more than seven days without cleaning and storing them in fresh solution Sleep in your lenses unless specifically advised to by your practitioner Wear any lens overnight if you are unwell Use your lenses for swimming, hot tubs or water sports, unless wearing goggles Wear your lenses when showering unless you keep your eyes firmly closed Switch the solution you use except on the advice of your practitioner Use any eye drops without advice from your contact lens practitioner Share contact lenses or wear any lenses not specified by your practitioner Remember that if you have any questions about your contact lenses you should consult your eyecare practitioner for advice.

How do I know when my eye problem is an emergency? When should I self-treat, go to my eye doctor, or head to Emergency?

How do I know when my eye problem is an emergency? When should I self-treat, go to my eye doctor, or head to Emergency?
Eye as a general rule should never be self treated. This can lead to multitude of complications. But taking good care by wearing correct power, sunglasses, healthy diet is what you can do. Also you can wash your eyes with drinking cold water if something falls in your eye.

My husband did cataract operation and the sound of the machine during operation has made him nervous. He cannot stand noise. He has to do the other eye cataract operation too urgently but since he is so sensitive to noise will be able to do it without getting panicky on the operation table? Is there an alternative to surgery.

You can go for Cataract operation by machines which produce very less noise under mild sedation to calm down his anxiety for that short duration only.

I am 22 yrs old. I am suffered from night blindness disease since last 3yrs. How can I improve my eye sight And please provide me information about available nightvision goggles which can be useful for me.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Night blindness is due to a disorder of the cells in the retina that are responsible for vision in dim light. It has many causes, including: • Short-sightedness • Glaucoma medications that work by constricting the pupil • Cataracts • Retinitis pigmentosa • Vitamin A deficiency How is night blindness treated? Treatment for night blindness will depend upon its cause. Treatment may be as simple as a new prescription for your glasses or switching glaucoma medications, or it may require surgery in cases of cataracts Dietary Management For Night Blindness Vitamins A, C and E are potent antioxidants which slow down age related macular degeneration and help maintain healthy tissues and cells in the eyes. Vitamins C and E may also inhibit the development or progression of cataracts. Lutein and zeaxanthin are two antioxidants called carotenoids, which help in neutralizing free radicals and maintaining eye health. Sources of Vitamin A: Yellow-orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, mango, papaya, pumpkin, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, eggs, milk and milk products. Vitamin A can be stored in your body, so you can opt for your favorite seasonal foods! Sources of Vitamin C: Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines and grapefruit, peppers, tomatoes, kiwis, gooseberries, strawberries and Brussels sprouts. Sources of Vitamin E: Nuts like almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, fortified oils, seeds, eggs, milk and dairy. Sources of Lutein: Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli and chard, yellow peppers, mango and bilberries. Sources of Zeaxanthin: Oranges, tangerines, eggs, spinach, dark green lettuce, corn, broccoli and orange sweet peppers. For maximizing the benefits of the above vegetables, it is best to have then lightly cooked rather than raw. Cooking or steaming breaks down the cells, making it simpler for the body to absorb these nutrients from the foods. Aim to eat at least 2 to 4 servings or more of these foods every day to ensure that you are getting enough of these 5 powerful nutrients.

Dear lybrate-user You seems to have dry eye syndrome as your symptoms suggest. It is better to have physical consultation. If not possible just use refresh tears three times a day. It will help.

You might not be able to stand direct sunlight so just try to avoid going out in the sun without protection always use some shade or something to cover your head and use dark sunglasses.
