It appears an allergy and it also appears to be due to weather. Don't sit in front of air conditioner and don't keep air conditioner very cool. Use facemask in polluted situations.

Ways To Prevent Nosebleeds

MS - ENT, DNB (ENT)
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Ways To Prevent Nosebleeds

There are various kinds of nosebleeds that can be caused by a variety of conditions. While some of them may not be too serious, one must never ignore heavy and persistent nosebleeds. These nosebleeds are usually of two kinds: anterior nosebleeds, and posterior nosebleeds. While 90% of all nosebleeds are anterior nosebleeds, the posterior nosebleeds are far less common and may be slightly more serious in nature. An anterior nosebleed is usually caused in the blood vessels that lie on the front portion of the nose and can be controlled easily. A posterior nosebleed usually comes from damage to an artery in the rear portion of the nose. Infection, trauma, allergic reactions and other such causes may be behind a nosebleed. Let us cast a glance on the tips to prevent nosebleeds.

  1. Salt water and saline nose drops can be used in order to prevent nosebleeds. It is important to take these on a regular basis in case you are experiencing these nosebleeds on a regular basis.
  2. The use of painkillers like Aspirin and other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs must be limited. Sometimes, taking such medication too frequently may lead to nosebleeds.
  3. You would do well to control your blood pressure because hypertension and other forms of high blood pressure can also cause nosebleeds. Lifestyle changes like your diet and exercise can help in keeping a more stable blood pressure level so that you do not fall prey to frequent nosebleeds.
  4. Humidify your home with a humidifier so that the air does not get too dry. Many times, this causes nosebleeds. Also, you may want to keep the heat down in the bedrooms. Many nosebleeds happen due to too warm temperatures while you are sleeping.
  5. Nose picking should also be discouraged as it can lead to nosebleeds in case there is a scratch or any other kind of damage when you try to force the dirt out.
  6. It has also been found that smoking has a connection with nosebleeds. This can be fixed if the patient quits smoking.
  7. One should not use nasal sprays without a prescription from a doctor. This also includes antihistamines, decongestants as well as other medicated sprays. These may not suit the patient at all times, and may also lead to nosebleeds.
  8. In the event of a nosebleed, you will need to lean forward with your head tilted backwards. This will stem the bleeding. If it is possible, you must also try and lie down immediately for a few minutes.

Are you currently taking any medication? do prevent a sore throat infection, a sore throat (pharyngitis) is normally a symptom of a bacterial or viral infection, such as the common cold. In around a third of cases, no cause for the sore throat can be found. If you have a sore throat, you may also have: swollen tonsils (tonsillitis), enlarged and tender glands in your neck, discomfort when swallowing.

I can't resist Sudden weather change during monsoon it causes throat burn pain and head pain above eyes. How could I overcome it?

General Physician, Agartala
I can't resist Sudden weather change during monsoon it causes throat burn pain and head pain above eyes. How could I ...
I undertand you're visibly troubled by this seasonal illness. However, this is easily explained by a condition called acute rhinosinusitis. Altered body immunity combined with pollen in the air from plants and roadside weeds can trigger the body to respond in a defensive way leading to swelling of the membranes of your nose, throat and sinuses. These swollen membranes then secrete mucous which gets accumulated within these sinuses leading to headache. Preventing this would be possible by covering your face with a balaclava mask or a scarf when riding your bike or going out in dusty places. If inspite of preventive measures this were to occur, steam inhalation helps in opening up sinuses leading to drainage of these accumulated secretions hence relieving the headache that causes you discomfort. Hope this answers your query. Feel free to contact me if there's any query.

Hi since you say that all the tests have been done and those tests are normal, and you have diabetes since two years, I would like to know the blood sugar levels and diabetes status. Many a times uncontrolled diabetes itself can cause dizziness because of fluctuations in blood sugar levels.
