It's due to your sexual intercourse, both of you need to maintain your body weight, maintain proper posture during intercourse, now take some analgesics or muscle relaxants along with pain relieving ointment twice daily for a week time.

Cracks VS Fractures - How To Differentiate Between The Two?

Cracks VS Fractures - How To Differentiate Between The Two?

A fracture separates a single solid object into two or more pieces due to pressure. In medical terms, a fracture refers to a broken bone due to some kind of external trauma. A crack in the bone, on the other hand, does not cause a clean break in the bone - there is only a separation or discontinuity in the bone material. A crack in the bone caused due to repeated stress is often called a 'hairline fracture'.

Here are the basic differences between a crack and a fracture in the bone and how to treat them:

  1. A crack or hairline fracture is rarely caused by a single injury. It is usually the result of bone fatigue which may be caused due to repeated concentrated stress over a long period of time and thus it is also called a stress fracture. Other bone fractures are almost always the result of sudden and severe force on the bones.
  2. The skeletal system constantly remodels itself. The cells called osteoblasts absorb calcium and secrete bone connective tissue. If a particular site is exposed to recurrent bouts of force (which are individually not impactful enough to cause a crack), over time the osteoblasts in that region malfunction and the crack appears. Muscular exhaustion can also cause cracks in the bones. Fractures are caused due to sudden external single force trauma to the bone. Nutritional problems like deficiencies of calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D and excessive smoking decrease the bone mineral density and increase the chances of both cracks and fractures.
  3. The symptoms of a crack are swelling, tenderness and sharp pain in the injured region. The symptoms worsen over time. A fracture has similar symptoms and might also exhibit an external physical distortion and makes it impossible to move the part of the body that where the broken bone is.
  4. An MRI is better for the detection of cracks or crack-prone areas because an X-ray can only detect the crack after it widens somewhat or the bone starts paining because the rays cannot pass through the tiny gap in bone material. A fracture is easily detectable by an X-ray because the rays pass right through the break.
  5. Complete rest for six to eight weeks is the most effective way of healing a crack. Using a walking boot in case of cracks in the leg bones in also helpful. Healing fractures requires extensive medical intervention. Surgical techniques like bone grafting and insertion of metal plates are used to reposition the broken bone.

How Ayurveda Can Help In Managing Paralysis?

How Ayurveda Can Help In Managing Paralysis?

Stroke and Paralysis is the inability of a muscle or group of muscles to move voluntarily. Muscles are controlled by messages sent from the brain that trigger movement. When part of the brain is damaged after a stroke, messaging between the brain and muscles may not work properly.

The temporary inability to move one’s own limbs or speak is known as paralysis. Paralysis is triggered by problems with the body’s nervous system and affects the functioning of muscles all over the body. This condition can affect a single limb, the right or left side of the body, or the complete body. A paralytic attack is often caused by a stroke or damage in the nervous system. It can also be caused by exposure to radiation or toxins, autoimmune diseases, tumours and spinal cord trauma. Recovery from a paralytic attack depends on the causes and the extent of the injury that triggered it. With some types of paralysis, partial or even complete, recovery is possible.

Ayurveda is an alternative system of medicine that can be quite effective when it comes to treating paralysis. Ayurveda has negligible side effects and hence can be used to treat adults and children alike. This system of medication does not look only at the physical symptoms but also the mental and spiritual well-being of the patient as well. Some ways to treat paralysis with Ayurveda are as follows:

  1. Vata-pacifying dietEat light meals that are easily digestible and pick warm foods over cold food. Avoid barley, rye and millet and include plenty of vegetables like asparagus, beets, okra and carrots in your diet. Also avoid bitter and pungent flavours, but pick food that is sweet, sour or salty to balance the body’s vata.
  2. Ayurvedic massageWarm herbal oils are sued for Ayurvedic massages. These oils and the action of massaging them into the skin have a number of health benefits associated with it, including the treatment of paralytic attacks. Some Ayurvedic massages that could be beneficial to paralysed patients are abhyanga Ayurvedic massages, padabhyanga and pizhichil.
  3. Medication: Along with lifestyle changes, Ayurvedic medication also plays a role in the treatment of paralysis. Some popular Ayurvedic remedies for paralysis are rasnadi quath, medicated castor oil, pippali mula, vatavidhwamsana rasa, chopcheeni churna, ashwagandha churna, brihat vatachintamani rasa, ashwagandha churna and rasaraja. While some of these medicines are to be taken orally, others may need to be administered through the nostrils as part of nasyam Ayurvedic treatments and others via an enema as part of sneha vasti. Drinking 20–40 ml of radish oil twice a day and a mixture of black pepper powder, sunti and honey is also said to be beneficial in treating paralysis. However, one must keep in mind that recovery from paralysis is very slow and hence patience is a must.

Diagnosis

  • Sudden onset of neurological deficit in the form of Aphasia

  • Hemiplagia

  • Cranial nervdeficity

Investigations

  • CT Brain – to rule out hamarage

  • MRI Brain – to rule out early infarct

  • ECG – to rule out atrial fibrilation

  • ANA- to rule out Vasculitis

  • Carotid , vertebral Atery doppler, to rule out arthrosclerosis

Treatment

Chikitsa Siddhant (Principle)

  • Avrut Vat Samak Chikitsa- Vatanuloman

  • Kaph Vathar Ausadh Prayog

  • Usna drvya Prayog

Once the diagnosis is conducted the ayurvedic doctor will then prescribe you certain medicinal herbs and suitable panchkarrma therapies, which can treat the paralysis problem. Complete cure in such a solution will vary from patient to patient, however, positive changes in the patient's health can be noticed. Another, most important factor that one should take care of is that paralysis is a serious condtition and self medication should never be done, even if the medication in question is a natural herb, still it should not be consumed without consulting an ayurvedic doctor.

Did You Know Physiotherapy Can Help With Back Pain?

Every action we do as a part of our daily lives is bound to have an impact on our body. For example, our nature of work, posture or physical activity can result in back pain, which can become chronic and frustrating. But, with physiotherapy, such issues can be managed efficiently.

Physiotherapy for back pain
Lower back pain can severely reduce an individual’s ability to work and affects his quality of life. If you are experiencing dull or sharp pain, the cause of this can range from a sudden injury or slowly build over time as a result of obesity among other reasons.

Physiotherapy is one of the most effective ways to treat back pain and has proven very useful over time. The practice includes specific exercises, stretching, dry needling and most importantly massages that are performed by highly skilled physiotherapists. Such methods are beneficial to relieve discomfort and treat back pain. It is essential to receive physiotherapy after an acute episode of back pain since it helps avoid further complications while also reducing your need to visit your doctor frequently. Just like with any form of treatment, chances of prevention and recovery are higher when physiotherapy is received early on.

Physiotherapists shall also show their clients certain stretching and strengthen exercises that help strengthen the back muscles and shall offer expert manual therapy in the form of massages with essential oils to ease back pain and improve blood circulation in the targeted area. The increased blood circulation also helps repair tissue and nerve damage, thus setting the patient on the road to recovery. For some patients, massage is more than enough and is all they need to feel better and get healed. The special techniques used by physiotherapists during massage sessions help relieve tension and relax the aching muscles. There are various techniques of offering massage in physiotherapy and vary in terms of the type of hand movements.

What kind of treatment do you need?
Physiotherapy treatment occurs in its various forms such as deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, manipulation therapy, trigger point massage and mobilization. Each of these types of massage tackles the various causes of back pain, and your therapist shall recommend the type of massage that shall suit the cause of your back pain after diagnosis. The physiotherapist shall also refer you to a specialized massage therapist who shall be highly skilled in the forms above of massage.

The proven effectiveness of physiotherapy is what has made it so popular even among athletes who are prone to pain and injury. Since physiotherapy can treat back pain in ways more than one, its effectiveness depends on using the right form of treatment which depends on your causes and symptoms of back pain.

Can Stretching Improperly Lead To Strains?

Can Stretching Improperly Lead To Strains?

Muscle strain or muscle pull is a condition, which is characterized by damage to the muscles or its adjoining tendons. Undue pressure can be exerted on the muscle when you are carrying out routine activities such as sudden lifting of heavy things or playing contact sports. The damage to the muscle is usually in the form of partial or complete tearing of the tendons and fibres attached to the muscles. The small blood vessels in the muscles can also be damaged by the tearing of the muscles, leading to local bleeding and bruising.

The symptoms of muscle pain are:
1. You will experience pain even while resting
2. There will be bruising, swelling and redness around the affected area
3. You will experience weakness of the muscles and tendons
4. The movement and mobility of the muscle will be impaired
5. You will experience pain when you use the affected muscles

The causes of a muscle strain are:
1. Playing contact sports can lead to injuries
2. Lifting heavy things
3. Exercising without a proper warm up routine
4. Lifting extremely heavy weights during exercise without proper acclimatization
5. Sleeping on one side only for a long period of time
6. Not stretching properly
7. Falling from a height

The treatments for muscle strains are:
1. Pain medications: You can opt for pain relieving medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications to help combat the associated pain of a muscle strain.
2. Rice: Rice stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. This treatment is usually the first step after suffering a strain, before opting for medications. This treatment prevents further aggravation of the problem.
3. Compress: You can alternate between hot and cold compress to reduce the swelling and pain.
4. Stretches: Once the affected area has healed, it is important for you stretch the muscles to improve their mobility and strength.

Ankle Pain / Ligament Injury Ligament injury is quite serious condition especially at ankle region as ankle joint is very important joint as it takes the entire body weight and it acts like torsion ie. The kinetic force is taken ie. The moving force is taken by the joint and the entire body weight is taken by both the ankle during walking, running and standing. It is prone to more vulnerability especially during movements (kinetic action of the body) The ligament injury wouldn't have healed properly that's the reason for you to have pain while you started walking or running or while kicking during sport activity. Generally lower limb takes more time to heal as the entire body weight is taken by the foot. It is important to wear MCR chappals as it distributes the weight evenly and it makes the foot to feel less pressure. You can take good Iron supplement, calcium and vitamin D which will help you to have quick recovery and also it helps for quick healing and recovery. You can do hot water fermentation will help to reduce the inflammation and it helps to have better range of motion. If you practice this way it will not hurt your foot any more.
