Festive Skin Care - Let Your Skin Do The Talking This Festive Season!

Festive season is a time of fun, beauty and indulgence. There is always an excitement when Diwali is around the corner. It is all about fun, mingling with your family and friends, and eating sweets and snacks. But during this mood of elation and celebration, one forgets that what goes inside also shows up externally. There are the endless parties for which you would dress up and style. So there will be the blow drying, ironing, styling, make-up, late nights, and to top it all, the alcohol and cigarettes. This, coupled with the excess smoke and pollution affects the skin and hair to a large extent. 

Here are few tips on how can you keep your skin glowing and hair healthy during the festive season. To start with, let me explain what damages your skin and hair and how.

  1. SugarSugar suppresses the activity of our white blood cells and thus makes us more susceptible to infections. It also worsens allergies and causes damage because of the breaking down of good proteins, leading to the formation of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGE). AGE makes the proteins in the collagen and hair stiff and hard; thus speeding up the process of skin ageing and making the hair brittle. One of the main reasons for wrinkles, deep lines, and sagging skin is AGE. So gorging high sugar foods during festivals can lead to fine lines and excessive dryness. So please be mindful of what you are eating during this time.
  2. Smoke – Smoke and pollution damage hair and skin. It makes the skin dry and scalp irritated or even itchy. Too much exposure can lead to boils/ folliculitis, skin rash, and acne exacerbation. To prevent this, you should wash your hair and body thoroughly the day after the festival to counteract the damage caused by smoke and ash.
  3. Excessive make-up and styling – You need to dress up and look pretty on festival days. This means excessive make-up and hair styling products, blow drying, and ironing. Not all this is harmful, but what worsens the situation is when you ignore or forget to remove them all off after the party is over. Always remember to follow your night-time skincare regime and cleanse your hair of all the styling products.
  4. Alcohol and cigarettes – These worsen the condition of your hair and skin. Alcohol makes the skin flushed and dehydrated with broken capillaries. And cigarettes compromise the blood supply to your skin. So cut down on cigarettes and alcohol as much as possible.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Be on a healthy diet always, especially a month before the festivals start.
  • Avoid too many sweets.
  • Drink plenty of fluids like water, coconut water, and buttermilk.
  • Try to cut down on your alcohol intake and cigarettes.
  • Apply an anti-oxidant cream which contains vitamin A, C, E or Q10 during the day, underneath your sunscreen.
  • Remove every trace of make-up and apply a good nourishing night cream.
  • Start oiling your hair with light oils like the ones which are coconut-based.
  • Do not use mousse on hair. If you do, then wash it off at night or the next morning.
  • Blow drying with low heat is better than ironing. Ironing can lead to hair breakage.
  • Avoid harsh surface chemical treatments during the Diwali month – be it for skin or hair.
  • Include some cardio exercises in your daily routine.

So, follow these simple steps to look gorgeous and feel gorgeous during this festive season!

Yes you can take protein supplements. However please be careful with your sugar readings before and after your exercise. I would suggest take medically approved proteins in your case like Abbott (Ensure, Danone (Protein X, British Biologicals (D Protin, Azzura. Do read the label to check the protein per scoop. You can take it as per your requirements.

If your total Vitamin D was low in your blood reports the chances are that your doctor has prescribed Vitamin D3. The bio available form is cholecalciferol. Weight gain is a slow process it take time. And it need well planned balanced diet along with physical activity and proper rest. You need well plan diet suited to your needs. Mean while here are few tips for you- Start eating small frequent energy dense meals instead of 3 large meal. Small meals are easy to digest and keep digestive system running. You can eat small portion of healthy food in difference of 2-3 hours have shakes of fruits with added nuts drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water. Eat all seasonal fruits and vegetables. Manage stress Quit smoking or drinking if any do some moderate intensity exercises for 30 minutes daily. Have positive body image appreciate your self Take sound sleep of 7-9 hour keep your self motivated as it not going to happen overnight. Consult me online for better results.

Inspite of taking muscle gaining powder or capsules you can make your body (muscle gain) by regulating your diet naturally. Eat foods that are rich in calories like pulses, cereals, meat, bread, rice, dry fruits, and nuts. U can also follow by adding vegetables like French beans, broccoli, Chinese cabbage, carrots, lettuce, spinach, asparagus, pumpkins, and eggplants to your diet. Add a healthy portion of red meat to your diet too if you are non vegetarian. But keep in mind not to overdo it. The aim is to add weight, not cholesterol! You can even add olive oil in generous quantities to your salads. Another way to add calories to your diet is by increasing the consumption of dairy products. Donot cut back on the fat content in your milk. Do not ask for low-fat curd, paneer, cheese, at the store. Make sure you consume a full calorie dairy product. उत्तर और दक्षिण अमेरिका के उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों में उगने वाले स्टीविया के कई फायदे हैं. वैज्ञानिक नाम स्टेविया रेबउडियाना वाली स्टेविया की पत्तियां स्वाद में मीठी होती हैं. सूरजमुखी परिवार का यह पौधा झाडी और जड़ी-बूटी के प्रजातियों में प्रमुख है. इसमें कई एंटीऑक्सीडेंट यौगिक जैसे कि फ्लावोनोइड्स, टैनिन, काम्पेरोल, ट्राईटरपेनस, कैफिक एसिड, और क्वैक्सेटीन आदि पाए जाते हैं. इसमें पाए जाने वाले तत्वों में लोहा, फाइबर, सोडियम, प्रोटीन, मैग्नीशियम, पोटेशियम, विटामिन ए और सी प्रमुख हैं. स्टीविया के फायदों और नुकसान को विस्तार से समझने का प्रयास किया जाना चाहिए.

6. वजन घटाने में
स्टीविया चीनी से ज्यादा मीठी होने के बावजूद कम कैलोरी वाली होती है. यानी आप इसके मीठेपन से अपने पसंद की तमाम चीजें जैसे कि कैंडीज, केक और कुकीज आदि बनाकर बिना किसी टेंशन के खा सकते हैं. इससे आपका वजन नहीं बढ़ेगा.
7. उच्च रक्तचाप को नियंत्रित करने में

सुपरफ़ूड के नाम से मशहूर स्पिरुलिना झीलों और प्रकृति झरनों आदि में पाया जाता है. इसलिए इस जलीय वनस्पति भी कहा जाता है. गहरे नीले-हरे रंग का स्पिरुलिना में कई आश्चर्यजनक रूप से सभी खाद्य पदार्थों से ज्यादा पोषक तत्व पाए जाते हैं. तो जाहिर है स्पिरुलिना के बहुत सारे फायदे हैं. जाहिर है कुछ नुकसान भी होंगे, तो आइए देखते हैं-

1. दिल को रखे स्वस्थ

11. वायरल संक्रमण में

Hello, you should build your stamina gradually. Also eating right foods before and after walking is important to have strength and loose weight. Excessive protein will not help in losing weight. Consult me further for proper diet plan.

Hello lybrate-user, You can easily reduce weight by following proper diet and exercise regime. You can do the following: 1. Exercise daily 2. Have a balanced diet 3. Eat more of fresh fruits and raw vegetables 4. Include more of fibres and less of fatty foods 5. Keep yourself hydrated 6. Try Yoga 7. Cubital tunnel syndrome is also known as ulnar neuropathy .It is caused by increased pressure on the ulnar nerve, which passes close to the skin surface around elbow. 

Factors which predisposes to the development of cubital tunnel syndrome are:
•Repeatedly leaning on your elbow, especially on a hard surface.
•Prolonged bending of elbow for sustained periods, such as while talking on a cell phone or sleeping with your hand crooked under your pillow.
•Abnormal bone growth in the elbow
•Intense physical activity that increases pressure on the ulnar nerve.
In most cases, cubital tunnel syndrome can be managed with conservative treatment. But in severe cases surgery may be required to reduce pressure on the affected nerve.

Cervical spondylosis:

Cervical spondylosis is a medical term for neck pain caused by age-related ‘wear and tear’ of bones and tissues. 

The degenerative process chiefly affects the vertebral bodies, the neural foramina, and the facet joints. If it may cause severe pressure on nerve roots with subsequent sensory or motor disturbances, which causes pain, paresthesia, and muscle weakness in the limbs.

Causes of cervical spondylosis

  • Spondylosis is caused from years of constant eccentric pressure, from joint subluxation or poor posture, being placed on the vertebrae, and the discs between them. The aberrant stress causes the body to compose new bone in order to compensate for the new weight distribution. This eccentric weight bearing from bone displacement will cause spondylosis to occur.
  • Poor postures and loss of the mundane spinal curves can lead to spondylosis as well. Spondylosis can affect a person at any age; however, older people are more affected.
  • Cervical spondylosis is a very prevalent condition. It's estimated that 8 out of 10 adults will have some degree of cervical spondylosis by the time they are 60 years old (but many will not have any conspicuous symptoms).
  • The most cases outlook of cervical spondylosis is generally good. Most cases respond well to treatment after a few weeks.

Symptoms of cervical spondylosis

  • Cervical spondylosis includes neck pain and shoulder pain. The pain can be rigorous in some cases.
  • Infrequent headaches may occur, that customarily start at the back of the head, just above the neck, and peregrinate over top of the forehead.
  • Pain conventionally comes and goes, with flare-ups followed by symptom-free periods.
  • Around 1 in 10 people develop perennial (chronic) pain.
  • Other, more severe, symptoms customarily only occur if you develop:
  • Cervical radiculopathy – where a slipped disc or other bone pinches or irritates a nerve
  • The most common symptom of cervical radiculopathy is the sharp pain that" travels" down one of your arms (known as brachialgia).
  • You may experience some numbness or" pins and needles" in the affected arm, and stretching your neck and turning your head makes the pain worse.

Diagnosis of cervical spondylosis

  • The spurling test may be used to evaluate patients with cervical radiculopathy. The sign is elicited by extending, rotating, and laterally flexing the patient’s neck toward the symptomatic side. Then, the doctor applies axial pressure on the spine. Pressure applied on top of the head may increase symptoms.
  • The spurling test has a sensitivity of 30% to 60% and a specificity of 90% to 100%, quite similar to those of other provocative maneuvers (low sensitivity but high specificity). This test help confirms the diagnosis of cervical radiculopathy.
  • X-ray, and mri scans are helpful for diagnosis of pain but generally not definitive and must be considered together with history and physical examinations.

Cervical spondylosis treatment

Treatment for cervical spondylosis depends on the severity of signs of sickness. The goal of treatment relieves pain, help you maintain your normal activities as much as possible, and prevent permanent injury to the nerves and spinal cord.

Physical therapy management

  • There have been several trials and systematic reviews into the use of physical therapy program for treatment of cervical spondylosis and its consequences.
  • There are several types of manipulations and exercises your physiotherapist can utilize to relieve stiffness, strengthen the area, and restore the function of the neck. Treatments such as cold or heat application, deep tissue massage, neck stretching, ultrasound and electrical stimulation may be used prior to exercise.
  • During physiotherapy, you practice a range of exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles that support the neck. You also learn how to improve your posture and range of movement exercises. You have to learn correct postures, the physiotherapist stand in front of a mirror while exercising, so you can see your mistakes and correct them.
  • one technique sometimes to provide pain relief and improve movement by cervical traction. Traction gently extends the neck opening the spaces between the cervical vertebrae and temporarily relieve pressure on the affected discs. Neck traction either done continuously or intermittently (short periods of pulling and resting).
  • It’s also possible at home to do cervical traction. There are pulley system devices that enable you to perform cervical traction in lying down. It’s important if you do cervical traction at home to see your physiotherapist first to make sure that you buy the right things and learn how to correctly set up.
  • cervical pillows (neck pillows) are designed to stabilize the neck while you sleep.
  • A cervical collar may also help you stabilize and realign your spine and relieve pain.

Medications

If over-the-counter pain medication doesn't help, your doctor might prescribe:

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs- prescribe-strength ibuprofen or naproxen sodium might be needed to relieve pain and inflammation. Muscle relaxants- certain drugs, such as cyclobenzaprine and methocarbamol can help relieve muscle spasms in the neck. Antidepressants- antidepressant medications have also been found to help ease neck pain from cervical spondylosis.

Surgery

Cervical spondylosis tends to be a chronic pain condition, but in most cases, it’s not progressive. Only rare cases surgery is required.

It is not necessary, there must be some hormonal changes but one can take care of that through balanced diet and exercise.
