Hi Lybrate user, As per your query regarding decaying of tooth, it is an irreversible process involving enamel damage. It seems to be in initial stages as you have no complaints regarding them by giving you any discomfort. So filling is the best option to regain your enamel level and decay removed. Thanks.

Protect your gums from getting hurt in the process of brushing by keeping your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle.

See your dentist every six months. Your teeth may not look dirty from the outside, but bacteria and plaque lurks in places you cannot see in the mirror.

If your brushing technique is correct, all brands of toothpastes are good. You should always use soft brushes, irrespective of the brand.

There is always an option of getting the tooth removed. But wisely you are saving it by root canal. Whatever treatment is required your doctor will update you d same. If you feel you can visit another dentist and see.

I'm suffering with toothache from one week. Cavity is there for tooth. What should I do?

BDS
Dentist, Bilaspur
Hello. Immediately show it to a dentist. Don't use over the counter available medicines as it may lower the pain but won't cure it. A dentist may recommend either a filling or a root canal or if the tooth has gone beyond repair may suggest extraction but certainly he would be the one offering the advice.

I am a 17 years old female, I have crooked teeth, also I have a slight overbite and my teeth are a bit forward. I had made an x-ray once, not too long ago, according to which I nearly have a 90° of angle in my teeth. I also had consult an orthodontist for braces treatment. According to him he said he'll have to remove my upper two and lower two teeth for traditional braces. I don't want any tooth extraction surgeries, would you please guide me through this. Which treatment should I go for, traditional braces, Damon braces or anything else. What?

Hello Lybrate user, Extraction treatment protocol varies according to the extent of malocclusion. With Damon braces some of the extraction cases can be converted into nonextraction, not indicated for all extraction cases though. The extraction treatment of four premolars with traditional braces, also gives good results. With Damon system the friction is less, less no. Of appointments, more comfortable. Since you are not willing to undergo extraction, you can discuss further about Damon system with your Orthodontist.

Dear lybrate-user, brush regularly with vertical up and down strokes. Cleaning every part of the mouth is very important. If you have a history of tobacco or gurkha chewing it is the most possible that you might be suffering from gingivitis.
