I am 35 years old and facing psoriasis for last 6 months on my skull, lower leg, front stomach and upper arm.
Hey lybrate-user, as you are 35 years old and facing psoriasis problem on your skull, lower leg, front stomach and upper arm, psoriasis is genetic disorder triggered due to stressful conditions and irregular life style. We are treating psoriasis using ayurvedic medicines. Psoriasis has three stages. First stage is when disease remain on skin and there are scaly patches. Second stage comes when there is pitting on nails and in last stage it enter the joints and there is pain in small joints. Generally patient use steroidal application on patches which give temporary relief and disease reappear after 2/3 days. In severe cases methotrexate is used which is not a safer option and is liver toxic. Ayurveda has got a complete remedy for psoriasis. It is a safer option and can be used for longer duration without any side effects. Ayurvedic external application give very quick results with sun exposure in clearing the scales and internal treatment does not allow the disease to re appear. Psoriasis is a manageable disease and can be managed with ease and effectively using ayurveda. You should use 3 gms of haldi with milk helps in psoriasis patients. For more info you can contact clinic. At present more than 4000 patients suffering from psoriasis are under my treatment and we are getting very good results.

I have joined a gym and am feeling very good lately. I am much more active than I was before also I have been eating clean which is why I lost 4 kgs in a month. A few days ago my Gym Trainer told me to go for a zero carb protien (isopure) and a fat burner to cut weight. Should I go for it? Will it have any long term affects on my body? Is it harmful? Will my weight loss be temporary? Will I get addicted to the Fat Burner?

Its very good that you weight training. You do need whey protein after a weight training session. Isopure is good. If you are eating clean then you will surely achieve fat loss. Fat burners are not required as it increases your metabolism a little bit. But once you stop it your fats can come back. It also has some side effects like shivering, breathlessness, hyperactive hence less sleep. Fat burners can be used only at the end of a fat loss diet when your body has plateaued. As a nutritionist I would suggest not to take it for the temporary result. Eat 1st class proteins, minimum starch, fruits and lots of vegetables. This should help you achieve your results.

Homeopathy and Erectile Dysfunction

M.A. (Scholar), BHMS
Sexologist, Mumbai
Homeopathy and Erectile Dysfunction

Certain physical ailments are still a social taboo and are not discussed openly, but we need to understand that a problem can happen with anyone irrespective of their cast, creed and gender. Erectile dysfunction is a serious problem prevalent among men across the world. It is a disorder that records a higher percentage with the passing age. Erectile dysfunction or ED is treated as a social taboo, for most people think of it as a sign of lower masculinity. However, it is only a condition that may arise from a wide spectrum of reasons and is curable. While some medications involve the risk of side effects, homeopathy rules out this additional risk in its attempts of treating erectile dysfunction. Homeopathy carefully looks for the underlying causes leading to sexual incapacity in men and will, therefore, remedy the problem from its root cause.

Most common symptoms of Erectile Dysfunction :

  1. Difficulty in achieving an erection.
  2. Inability to perform in bed as the person ejaculates way before culmination and is unable to maintain an erection.

The following homeopathic medicines are known to treat instances of Erectile Dysfunction:

  1. Nux Vomica can better your sex life: Nux Vomica is prescribed by doctors to treat mild cases of erectile dysfunction. A dysfunction caused due to lack of rest, work pressure and a demanding competitive world can be treated with the use of Nux Vomica.
  2. Caladium can be effective: Many people suffer from sexual weakness due to their bad habits. Addiction of any kind might impair your sex life. People who consume tobacco should take Caladium to counter the ills of erectile dysfunction. People who are not aroused even after foreplay or oral sex should resort to this effective medicine. It is also known to treat apparent impotence resulting from acute psychological stress.
  3. Selenium can help you get an erection: Patients requiring selenium feel the pangs of sexual desire but face a weak or slow erection to consummate their desires. They experience fatigue after having sex or might even turn irritable after intercourse. Involuntary passage of seminal fluid during sleep, urination and pooping are some of the symptoms Selenium takes care of.
  4. Lycopodium can help you regain confidence in bed: This medication is prescribed by many professional homeopathic practitioners. It is a sought after medicine in the world of homeopathy. In younger adults, erectile dysfunction could be the result of very frequent or rather regular masturbation. Indulging in random sexual activities can also lead to premature ejaculation. Lycopodium helps these cases. However, in older men, the presence of sex drive might be unaffected but there is insufficient erection to have intercourse.

I am suffering from obesity. Even I am eating a vegetarian diet. I put on weight easily.
Hello Swapnil, Big belly with 94 kg weight is suggesting of underlying hormonal disturbance in your body. Unless that is diagnosed and corrected by proper diet and exercise plan, it would be difficult to reduce weight and waist. Low calorie, low fat diet, toiling in gym on trademill for 1 hour every day - are not correct approaches. Make comprehensive change in diet, exercise, sleep and stress in your routine. This is called lifestyle medicine. If you can not do it on your own, find some expert who can help you in this over extended period of time. We even do this over long distance by phone and whats app. We are located in Ahmedabad - If you are close by you may decide to visit personally. Best wishes.

Hi Please tell me what is the current treatment? If you are on Galvusmet 50/1000 and Pioglar 2G 15, it is possible that there may be an occasional episode of hypoglycemia. Mainly due to glimiperide 2 mg. It will be good if you do a regular blood glucose check up at home, keep a record of the levels. If you notice that at particular time glucose level tends to be low, then care can be taken to avoid that. If you want any specific advise please come back with above mentioned details then I will be able to guide. Thanks.

Dengue fever - act early, be safe

The rains have come, so has dengue. The mosquitos that spread dengue bite during the daytime, so keeping as much of the body covered as possible reduces risk of being bitten. Use a mosquito repellent on the exposed parts of the body, it is safe in children, a repellent applied on the hands legs and face will protect much more than the fancy mosquito bands that are aggressively marketed during this season.
The first symptom of dengue fever is increased body temperature, which often associated with body aches and headache. Many over the counter fever medications have drugs that have effect on the kidneys, liver and platelets. Instead of self medication, it is advisable to seek medical attention. Diagnosing dengue early and being under the guidance of a doctor can prevent complications.
The major issue in dengue is decreased blood volume due to a leakage in the capillaries, the way to manage this is by adequately hydrating the person and quite often need intravenous fluids and serial monitoring of the blood counts and platelets. Unnecessary antibiotics and other drugs can increase the risk of bleeding and complications. Avoid self medication and over the counter medications.
Screening tests have to be chosen carefully, many labs advertise dengue screening, unless the correct test is chosen depending on the time since the start of the illness, these tests would not be useful. Stay alert, stay safe, always seek medical opinion before treatment or tests.

Hello, loose and thin skin is a genetic problem. There is no permanent solution to make your skin thicker. You can make your skin tight but it will always remain sensitive. Do the following: use a mild facewash like skin Dr. Dermapolish face wash. Or you can also use cetaphil. Afterwards, moisturise your face with efaderm cream. Wunder under eye cream to be applied nicely under the eyes. Repeat this twice a day and you will see improvement in a week or two. For dark spots, you may use mederma on the affected areas everyday. Dark spots will take more time.

Natural lubricants should be applied in order to activate natural lubrication. 'Nasya' is a procedure defined in Ayurveda for addressing nasal problems and others too. 'Nasya' means which is administered through nose. Some herbal nasal oils, selected as per symptoms and complaints, should be administered. Some are pungent, others are soft. So selection is important. Pl send history and info and medicine taken. Till then pl smear clarified butter (ghee) inside nostrils twice a day.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Hi sir/mam, I am suffering from Anxiety and Depression from Last 5-6 months and I had tried all Medicines including A...
“Anxiety is a normal, predictable part of life. However, “people with an anxiety disorder are essentially phobic about the feeling state of anxiety.” And they’ll go to great lengths to avoid it. Some people experience generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), excessive anxiety about real-life concerns, such as money, relationships, health and academics, Others struggle with society anxiety, and worry about being evaluated or embarrassing themselves, he said. People with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) might become preoccupied with symmetry or potential contamination. “The bottom line is that people can experience anxiety, and anxiety disorders, related to just about anything. Most of these steps contribute to a healthy and fulfilling life, overall. For instance, “making some basic lifestyle changes can do wonders for someone coping with elevated anxiety,” Take these steps from today. 1. Take a deep breath. “Deep diaphragmatic breathing triggers our relaxation response, switching from our fight-or-flight response of the sympathetic nervous system, to the relaxed, balanced response of our parasympathetic nervous system,” according to, clinical psychologists. Who have suggested the following exercise, which you can repeat several times: Inhale slowly to a count of four, starting at your belly and then moving into your chest. Gently hold your breath for four counts. Then slowly exhale to four counts. 2. Get active. “One of the most important things one can do [to cope with anxiety] is to get regular cardiovascular exercise,” For instance, a brisk 30- to 60-minute walk “releases endorphins that lead to a reduction in anxiety.” You can start today by taking a walk. Or create a list of physical activities that you enjoy, and put them on your schedule for the week. Other options include: running, rowing, rollerblading, hiking, biking, dancing, swimming, surfing, step aerobics, kickboxing and sports such as soccer, tennis and basketball. 3. Sleep well. Not getting enough sleep can trigger anxiety. If you’re having trouble sleeping, tonight, engage in a relaxing activity before bedtime, such as taking a warm bath, listening to soothing music or taking several deep breaths. And, if you’re like many people with anxiety whose brains start buzzing right before bed, jot down your worries earlier in the day for 10 to 15 minutes, or try a mental exercise like thinking of fruits with the same letter. 4. Challenge an anxious thought. “We all have moments wherein we unintentionally increase or maintain our own worry by thinking unhelpful thoughts. These thoughts are often unrealistic, inaccurate, or, to some extent, unreasonable,” Thankfully, we can change these thoughts. The first step is to identify them. Consider how a specific thought affects your feelings and behaviours. Is it helpful or unhelpful? These are the types of thoughts you want to challenge. Therefore it is suggested asking yourself: “Is this worry realistic?” “Is this really likely to happen?” “If the worst possible outcome happens, what would be so bad about that?” “Could I handle that?” “What might I do?” “If something bad happens, what might that mean about me?” “Is this really true or does it just seem that wa Then, “reframe or correct that thought to make it more accurate, realistic and more adaptive.” Here’s one example: “I would feel embarrassed if I tripped on the stage, but that’s just a feeling; it wouldn’t last forever, and I would get through it.” 5. Say an encouraging statement. Positive, accurate statements can help to put things into perspective. See these examples: “Anxiety is just a feeling, like any other feeling.” and “This feels bad, but I can use some strategies to [cope with] it.” 6. Stay connected to others. “Social support is vital to managing stress,” Today, call a loved one, schedule a Skype date or go to lunch with a close friend. “Talking with others can do a world of good.” Another option is to get together and engage in an activity that improves your anxiety, such as taking a walk, sitting on the beach or going to a yoga class. 7. Avoid caffeine. Managing anxiety is as much about what you do as what you don’t do. And there are some substances that exacerbate anxiety. Caffeine is one of those substances. As said, “The last thing people with anxiety need is a substance that makes them feel more amped up, which is exactly what caffeine does.” 8. Avoid mind-altering substances. “While drugs and alcohol might help to reduce anxiety in the short term, they often do just the opposite in the long term,” Even the short-term effect can be harmful. Experts have treated countless clients whose first panic attack occurred while they were taking drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy or LSD. “Panic attacks are bad enough if you are straight and sober, so imagine how bad they are if you are high, and can’t get un-high until the drug wears off.” 9. Do something you enjoy. Engaging in enjoyable activities helps to soothe your anxiety. For instance, today, you might take a walk, listen to music or read a book, 10. Take a break. It’s also helpful to build breaks into your day. As it is said, this might be a “simple change of pace or scenery, enjoying a hobby, or switching ‘to-do’ tasks.” “Breaking from concerted effort can be refreshing.” 11. Problem-solve. It is suggested considering how you can address the stressors that are causing your anxiety. Today, make a list of these stressors and next to each one, jot down one or two solutions. 12. Pick up a book. There are many valuable resources on anxiety, which teach you effective coping skills. Some recommended are Dying of Embarrassment for people with social anxiety; The BDD Workbook for body dysmorphic disorder; The Imp of the Mind and The OCD Workbook for obsessive-compulsive disorder. It is suggested Stop Obsessing for adults with OCD (and Up and Down the Worry Hill for kids with OCD). For people with panic attacks, it is suggested Don’t Panic: Taking Control of Anxiety Attacks. For a general overview of cognitive-behavioural therapy for anxiety, 13. Engage in calming practices. “Meditation, yoga, or other calming practices can help minimize anxiety in both the short and long term.” Sign up for a yoga class or watch a yoga video online. (Curvy Yoga is a wonderful and sizes.) Meditate right now for just three minutes resource for yoga for all shapes 14. Contact a therapist. “Sometimes anxiety can be difficult to manage without professional help,” Many organizations include databases of providers who specialize in anxiety (along with helpful information). 15. Accept your anxiety. “If you really want to effectively manage your anxiety, the key is to accept it,” This might sound counterintuitive. But anxiety, “in and of itself,” isn’t the real problem. Instead, it’s our attempts at controlling and eliminating it, he said. “Not accepting these unwanted inner experiences is the actual source of so much of our self-induced suffering.” Accepting anxiety doesn’t mean “resign[ing] ourselves to a life of anxious misery. It simply means that we are better off recognizing and fully accepting the existence of anxiety and other uncomfortable emotional states that are inevitable, but transitory,” So if you experience anxiety today, simply observe it. “Think of it like a wave of the ocean; allow it to come in, experience it, and ride it out.” Anxiety can feel overwhelming. It can feel like chains around your feet, weighing you down. But by taking small steps – like the ones above – you can minimize your anxiety and cope effectively.

How to overcome from depression?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist,
You are so young and having depression could mean that there is something serious bothering you. You must meet with a counselor and then under that person? s guidance you may choose to seek psychiatric help. The combination is ideal to combat this condition. This is the only condition were you are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, and wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend yoga classes etc. Watch a lot of sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. I hope you can find someone to love and be loved too. Whatever happens please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings.
