Hi, i'm female age 24 years old. I'm a software engineer and i'm compelled to sit for many hours that's why i'm gaining weight. Is it ok if I eat 3 chapatis for my lunch. Which food should I prefer for my breakfast and dinner please do suggest me. My height is 152 cm and weight is 75kgs. Please advise.

FICMCH, Diploma In Laproscopic Surgery, Certified in Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
Hi lybrate-user, more than counting the number of chapatis, I think it is important for you to exercise for at least 45 minutes everyday. If you can't make time for exercise, use stairs in office, get up & walk around the office every hour, cut down on fried foods & snacks, eat more fruits/vegetables and whole grain options. There is no replacement for physical activity. Not having enough time to exercise is an excuse for lazy people as the saying goes- if you can't take out time for health now, you'll have to take out time for disease later. So make your choice & get going.

If v r pregnant wic is first sign to no v r pregnant. And wen does implantation happens.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
implantation takes place around day 14 and embryo starts to develop releasing pregnancy hormone called beta hcg which rises rapidly. it's measured in blood in ivf babies or tubal pregnancy and not as a routine. when hormone levels exceeds certain levels, it's passed in urine and this is when the periods are overdue by few days certain women do undergo pregnancy related vomiting and nausea others are lucky to have No change. take care.

Hi All, Kindly suggest is it safe to have sex during first trimester or not? Also suggest what kind of precautions we should take for safe pregnancy?

PG Diploma in Emergency Medicine Services (PGDEMS), Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Alternate Medicine

Your developing baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in your uterus, as well as the strong muscles of the uterus itself. Sexual activity won't affect your baby...so it is completely safe to sex during pregnancy....

It will not affect you. There should be no fear or anticipation which is not necessary. Be regular in the follow-up and maintain good health by eating properly and doing mild exercises suggested by your doctor.

Hello, You need to get a serum beta hcg test done now to rule out pregnancy conclusively. If negative then you should just wait for your menses to start in a week.

Hi I am 21 year old. I want to know the best tablet to avoid pregnancy and not harmful?

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
You can try oral contraceptive pills. But which one suits you depends on whether you are known to have any pre-existing medical problems. Also all medicines have a few side effects. Hence sometimes its a matter of trial and error. If taken properly they are all very effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

abortion pills work till 8 weeks, but can be tried at 9 weeks. don't waste more time by taking pills and waiting for abortion to start. women waste days and weeks adding to the risk of abortion, blood loss, infections, infertility in future

I am 26 years old married women. After intercourse semen gets out from my vagina because I feel very wet and it's smell like that. We are trying for pregnancy from last six months and have sex during ovulation period. I am taking folic acid tabs. Please suggest.

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology

Keep trying during your ovulation days for at least 6-7 months. If you did not get positive result then get basic fertility investigation for both of you done like ultrasound, and blood & hormonal investigation, semen analysis.

Which treatment she will take to conceive. Pls tel me doctor.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

See the report is not good. Your uterus has heterogenous consistency, for which any gynecologist will advise you to undergo d&c procedure with or without mri to rule out endometrial or uterine cancer. For time being please withhold the thoughts of getting pregnant, as first you need to take care of the current situation. And then if everything normal after d&c, then only can think about treatment of infertility. Consider this message as urgent to rule out cancer.

Turmeric (Haldi) - 4 Reasons Why It Is An Important Herb!

PG Diploma in Emergency Medicine Services (PGDEMS), Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Alternate Medicine

Turmeric (Haldi) - 4 Reasons Why It Is An Important Herb!

Turmeric is widely used in cooking spicy dishes all over the world. But there are several pieces of research, which prove the efficacy of turmeric or haldi in warding off ailments like dementia and reduce the risk of cancer to a great extent. Turmeric has the highest usage in countries like India and Sri Lanka followed by other parts of the planet.

As per the results of the World Alzheimer’s Report, it is found that only about 3.6 percent of South Asians aged above 60 suffer from dementia which is quite lower than 6.4 percent of people in Australia as well as 7.2 percent of people in Western Europe. In similar lines, the World Health Organisation says that the rate of cancer patients is lower in India in stark comparison to the higher rates of more developed countries. If an individual is looking for the benefits of turmeric, he would come across several reasons to add more turmeric to foods on a daily basis.

  1. Reduces the risk of cardiac problems: Curcumin present in turmeric can have a positive effect on people suffering from high cholesterol. Animal studies opine that it can considerably lower down cholesterol levels as well as prevent building up off LDL or bad cholesterol. Thus, it is a viable means of preventing plaque build-up which in turn may block the arteries and lead to strokes and cardiac arrests.
  2. Fights inflammatory diseases: The anti-inflammatory qualities of turmeric can work as a potential anti-inflammatory medication without causing any unwanted side effects. It is also helpful in treating minor nicks and cuts and it can be administered with warm milk to heal any kind of inflammatory disease inside the body. There has been a study which showed turmeric to be useful in treating pain and disability stemming from osteoarthritis. Turmeric is also found helpful in combatting seasonal flu and viral infections.
  3. Helps in digestion and supports weight loss: Turmeric stimulates the gall bladder which in turn produces bile. As bile helps in digestion of fat, health experts are of opinion that turmeric improves overall digestion and may also aid in controlling weight. It is useful in treating bloating and excessive gas formation caused by improper digestion.
  4. Helps in maintaining blood sugar levels: Turmeric plays a crucial role in improving glucose control as well as controlling activities of insulin. It has the potential to bring about a drop in blood sugar levels. So, an individual with high blood sugar should add optimum amounts of turmeric in diet along with diabetes medication to help in reducing the blood sugar levels. But it is important to monitor the sugar levels continually to avoid conditions like hypoglycemia which is characterised by sugar levels dropping lower than required.

In addition to all these, there is a clear indication that turmeric helps in cancer prevention, reducing breast cancer, skin, and pancreatic problems along with multiple myelomas and juvenile leukemia. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

It depends on your taste. Overindulge of coffee is bad otherwise coffee is good for heart if taken in moderation.

Since last 1 year I am continuously gaining weight, drastic change in skin as wells as irregular periods.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
hi, I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through a dietary therapy. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.
