Lips always dry, bad teeth gum and blinding time to time. Can you help me with this problem?
Thses are symptoms of gums infection bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result from poor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. Bad breath can also be made worse by the types of foods you eat and other unhealthy lifestyle habits. Basically, all the food eaten begins to be broken down in your mouth. As foods are digested and absorbed into the bloodstream, they are eventually carried to your lungs and given off in your breath. If you eat foods with strong odors (such as garlic or onions), brushing and flossing -- even mouthwash -- merely covers up the odor temporarily. The odor will not go away completely until the foods have passed through your body. Practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Brush teeth after you eat (keep a toothbrush at work or school to brush after lunch). Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. Rinse with an antibacterial mouthwash twice a day. Dentures should be removed at night and cleaned thoroughly before being placed in your mouth the next morning. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. Stop smoking and chewing tobacco-based products. Ask your dentist for tips on kicking the habit. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum (preferably sugarless) or sucking on candy (preferably sugarless) for its treatment you need to visit dentist for cleaning and polishing of you gums and teeth.

Hi, Please do mention your age next time when you have a querry the reason you had two long front teeth is coz of excess bone loss which causes your gums to go down.Giving the impression that teeth have become long. The acrylic teeth replacement is one of the choice to replace the teeth provided they are removable and not fixed .If they are fixed taking support from adjacent teeth that is a quackery. In my humble opinion. You better get it removed as soon as possible and think of other alternatives to replace the missing teeth like.Dental implants.Fixed partial dentures .Also need to get your gums healthy by visiting a periodontist before getting anything else done.Hope this helps.Cheers

What's the reasons for bad smelling from mouth,& what care should be taken for this?
Hi, There are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently. I think you should show it to your dentist. If he feels correct, he can do some necessary feelings to cover those sensitive areas. Sensodyne is not the solution to all kind of sensitivity. Avoid self medication and consult a dentist.

My teeth is so yellow and big gap between front two teeth it's looks vry ugly how to become my teeth beautiful.
For front gap in tooth can be build up my filling material, cap or braces. The choice of treatment depends on the amount of gap and will be determined by your dentist. For yellowish teeth there are various options like scaling and polishing, microabrasion, whitening treatment. You can opt any but, unfortunately home remedies for whitening is not very effective for long term.

Why You Must Not Delay Getting Your Dental Implants?

Why You Must Not Delay Getting Your Dental Implants?

Why you must not delay getting your dental implants?

Dental implants are surgical components like frames or metal posts, which are placed beneath the gums so as to enable a dentist to mount artificial teeth onto them. Since these components blend very easily with your jawbone, they offer excellent support for your teeth replacements.

Can anyone have an implant?

It is important for your teeth and gums to be healthy in order to consider a dental implant. You need to have a strong bone in your jaw so that it can support the replacement tooth after the implants. If you smoke, suffer from diabetes or have certain gum disease you are not suitable for the procedure.

Why should you get started on this procedure?

If you are suitable for the procedure of dental implant, it is highly advisable to not delay it any further. Implants should be fitted within one year of losing a tooth since the jaw bone surrounding a tooth starts to shrink in size and gradually becomes so small that it fails to support an implant.

Here are some reasons as to why you should get started on this procedure:

1. To gain healthy and natural looking teeth without affecting surrounding teeth

Nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, so your natural teeth remain intact. They help in preventing healthy teeth nearby from shifting, which is very common if there's an empty space next to a healthy tooth for a long period of time. The procedure sees a replacement tooth being positioned in place of the lost tooth so that it not only looks but feels like a natural tooth.

2. To protect your jawbone

Not filling up empty spaces in your mouth can severely affect your jawbone. It begins to lose its firmness and strength as a consequence of no longer being able to support a natural tooth. Dental implants help in stimulating bone growth while preventing bone loss.

3. To keep your face from sagging

Missing teeth can cause your face to sink and sag, giving you a very sad and aged appearance. Dental implants provide you with the chance to retain the natural shape of not only your face but your smile too.

4. They do not move or shift but remain in place

Dental implants resemble your own natural teeth as they fuse with the bone permanently. Moreover, being fixed in one place due to the fusion, you can expect the replacement teeth to not move or shift.

All About Laser Dentistry - Methods and Results

A very interesting thing, that most people would have noticed during their visit to the clinic is the white light that is used on the teeth. This is laser light, which is used extensively over the last couple of decades in dentistry for a variety of treatments. The following are some procedures where laser is commonly used.

  1. Whitening teeth: In-office bleaching is done by applying the whitening agent on the tooth and activating it by laser light. This instant result is whiter teeth and a brighter smile.

  2. Caries: In some cases, laser light is used to remove the decayed portion of the tooth and shape the surrounding healthy tooth to receive the restorative material.

  3. Restorations: When composite resins are used to fill the space left by tooth decay, the decayed portion is removed and the enamel etched to improve adhesion. The composite material is then filled in the tooth space to achieve the desired shape and then light-cured.

  4. Veneers: Where a thin layer of the existing tooth is removed to provide a whiter tooth, then laser light is used. These chemicals are inactive and only become activated when exposed to laser light. In cases of both restorations and veneers, one big advantage is it gives sufficient working time for the dentist to shape the material to the desired form and then activate it.

  5. Gingivitis: Laser is also used in gum diseases where bacteria are removed and the gums are reshaped. Using laser on the root surfaces ensures better removal of the hardened calculus and promotes gum reattachment of the gums to the tooth surfaces.

  6. Root canal therapy: In the root spaces, if there was an infection, laser light can help remove the bacteria before filling up the root canal with gutta percha.

  7. Soft tissue biopsy or lesion removal: Biopsies of the lips, gums, and tongue can be done using laser light. If the lesions are too small and require removal, it can be done by laser, thereby avoiding the need for surgery

Results: In all the above procedures, the laser is more effective than the conventional method that it is replacing. Some advantages include:

  1. Less painful

  2. Anesthesia not required

  3. Avoids tooth drilling in some cases of very minor decay, so patient is at ease

  4. Reduces bleeding and swelling when dealing with soft tissues

  5. Reduces the amount of tooth removal during cavity preparation

Not all situations can be managed with a laser treatment though and conventional biopsies and drills will be required in some cases. As with all other dental situations, a detailed discussion with the dentist on the pros and cons and the patient condition will help make an informed decision.

I have rct of my tooth 4 year ago. But now mild pain start in that tooth. Not continuously but when I chew something....
Hello lybrate-user, your case appears to be that of a failed root canal treatment (rct). Ideally, in an rct-treated tooth, there is no vital tissue or nerve that can cause pain. However, in your case, it seems as if the procedure was not done properly. Taking pain killers will only provide transient relief. Most likely, you will be required to undergo a re-rct to get permanent riddance from this problem. Before initiating the re-rct, however, you will be required to take a 3-day course of medication.

I have bleeding gums. and most of the time I have yellowish teeth so how to remove this ?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
The dentist, periodontist, or dental hygienist removes the plaque through a deep-cleaning method called scaling and root planing. Scaling means scraping off the tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planing gets rid of rough spots on the tooth root where the germs gather, and helps remove bacteria that contribute to the disease.

Tooth ache can be due to cavity or gum issues. If itis a cavity then you need to get a root canal treatment done followed by a crown. Smaller not deep cavity can be cure with fillings. To prevent cavity use fluoride rich tooth paste.
