I removed my sons's one tooth by dentist from root. He is 12 yrs old. What I need to do for his new teeth grow.

Post Graduate Certificate In Endodontics (P.G.C.E), BDS
Dentist,
Dear ! at 12 years of age one have mixed dentition (means both type of teeth are present in mouth milk teeth as well as permanent teeth) so, future treatment will be decided on" which tooth has been extracted milk tooth or permanent one. If: 1) milk tooth is extracted, so permanent tooth will erupt soon as replacement, that can be confirmed by dentist after examining an x-ray to see the location of upcoming tooth. 2) if permanent tooth has been removed then no replacement tooth will erupt in empty space, so, you must show your son to a dentist, who can clarify your doubts after seeing the case. Regards!

Hi my son 2.5 months only. Her Navel has extended/swollen since last 15-20 days. She also spit out milk many a times a day even after burping. Pls help.

Hi my son 2.5 months only. Her Navel has extended/swollen since last 15-20 days.
She also spit out milk many a times...
Swollen naval may be because of outpouching of intestinal content from naval gap, it may be subsides itself if there is no sign of obstruction as green/yellow vomiting, pain at the site. If not nothing to worry give domastal drop 8-10 drops three times a day for 2-3 days or consult nearby pediatrician.

I can understand your concern - commonest cause of such loose stools are - milk protein allergy, lactose intolerance and improper digestion n food habit and rarely disease known as" celiac disease" which is an allergy of gehu. Wheat. So pls get tests for these many issues done especially - test named as ttg-a.

Hello doctors, my daughter is just entered her teens. She was very understanding and disciplined but off late she has become arrogant, rude, lazy and gets irritated and frustrated very soon. She started to even reply back rudely to her grandparents and parents. Can you help and suggest to bring her back like she was.

MD - Paediatrics

This teen age behaviour is very difficult to understand, have patience, be considerate and avoid head on collisions. Become her friend.

Meri beti hai 5 year ki use night me potty ke raste me pain hota hai maine use gastroentrology doctor ko bhi dikhaya lekin unhone kaha koi bhi problem nahi hai lekin use daily pain hota hai please mujhe koi medicine bataye jisse uska dard kam ho jaye ya fir usko neend aa jaye thankyou.

Does she have constipation? does she pass stools with difficulty or hard stools? this is the age group in which children are often constipated? first add fibre to diet and adequate water. Fruits, ghee, green vegetables, banana are good in fibre. Wheat chapati etc. Also show your child to a paediatric surgeon who will do per rectal examination to rule out anal fissure. Give her sitz bath. Before going to bed make her sit in hot water tub.

My daughter Jinia is 4 years old and has been grinding her teeth during sleep for last 1 week. Her urine also smells foul and she started urinating too frequently. Kindly suggest.

Doctor of Medicine
Pediatrician, Chennai
Hello, small kids grinding their teeth is called bruxism, its normal till 5yrs. In some kids it may indicate some form of stress. But usually nothing to be done. Regarding her urinary symptoms, if she has pain or cries during urinating or has fever, better to get urine tested. Being a girl child, it may be urinary infection.

My daughter is 5 months 22 days old. Need to start the diet for her thought of cerelac but there are so many variants available so I got confused. Please suggest which would be best for her and also suggest some good diet plan. Thank you.

My daughter is 5 months 22 days old. Need to start the diet for her thought of cerelac but there are so many variants...
Timely thinking indeed! the very purpose of top semisolid feeds started at this age is to support growth demands n to empower enable child to take routine home/family food at one year age any staple cereal mix with pulses/grams/nuts in 3: 1 proportion with added energy dense ghee/oil, jaggery/sugar cooked n made incrementally semisolid is acceptable. Prefered are custom made home cereal mixes. Acceptable but less favoured options of commercial cereal mix only in compelling situations like working mothers, travel, hygiene issues. Hardly anything to choose between variety of available flavours. Just ensure age limits recommendations. Mashed fruits, roots, veg to be started bit later. Avoid top milk, animal proteins upto 9 mths. Start with 4 feeds a day n increase gradually the volume, variety, thickness as per taste n acceptance of baby. Happy feeding.

I have a daughter who is 8.5 years old. Actually her problem is that she does not want to eat and she is underweight. Whatever she eats she eats with water. What should I do sir?

M.D PEADIATRICS, MBBS
Pediatrician, Pune
Hello lybrate-user, you have not mentioned your daughter's weight, which should b between 26-28kg. What I will advice is do not force her to eat, let her demand food, & serve only heathy food items avoiding junk food like bakery products, all kinds of wafers, chocolets etc. Pl make sure that she has salad & fresh fruits daily. Treat constipation if that is the case, deworm her every 6 months. If she is falling sick often she needs to b seen &investigated by Dr. I hope this solves your problem. All the best!

My son is 7 years old he is suffering from headache n dizziness, while dizzying he sees cars around his eyes, dizziness is not regular but some times, pls advice what to do?

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ahmedabad
Headache and dizziness can be because of some opthalmic refractory error- means he might need specs. So first check his number and if its ok, see a pediatric neurophysician.

U can use but see it should be alcohol free and sucrose free. Before that try 1. Do regular massage of your baby with coconut/ olive oil. No baby oil 2. Wrap your baby properly in blanket/ other cloth 3. Apply pressure on tummy- put baby face down in lap and pat back.

Up to six month solely the child should be on breast fed and then after liquid diet and mashed food should be started. You can give him rice water, pulse water, mashed khichadi, mashed potato and other vegetables, biscuit in milk, mashed fruits, fruit juices, cerelac at this stage. The child should be double of his birth weight at the age of 6 month so check his progress by weighing him.
