Hi, can we wear a knee cap/support while walking/running? Does it affect anything in the knee while walking if we wear one?

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi, Yes, it can be worn while walking, running, lifting heavy weights, etc. It helps to keep the joint in position. But do not wear it while sleeping; it will hinder the blood flow.

In all probability bone malunion or deformity must be there. You may consult in a govt. District hospital orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, he may do the management under guidance of Poor's treatment mandatory in govt hospitals under some rules for benefits scheme for poor and destitute. Even charity hospital if available can be helpful. Walking aids, etc, braces ,are provided free of cost by voluntary association of handicaps assistance, which a govt doctor in your city would guide you to. It maybe possible for him to do necessary corrections also to your limb injuries with cast, dressings, medications free of cost available there.

I am Anil kumar aged 26 years old am suffering from back neck pain and also occupational headache from left side of the head since (6) six months am feeling not well and stress pls say why its happen.

DRCH, BHMS
Homeopath, Bareilly
It is all due to your wrong posture. Do not work continuously by bending the head . In between the work take a break for few minute and rotate your head in clockwise , anticlockwise, front, and back to relax the muscles of neck . Sleep on hard bed with very thin pillow under head. Take kali phos 6x four tablet 4 times daily . Your headache may be due to referred pain of neck or due to migraine. Take homeopathic medicine for migraine.

Dear, low back pain are often referred for physical therapy for four weeks as an initial conservative (nonsurgical) treatment option before considering other more aggressive treatments, including back surgery. The goals of physical therapy are to decrease back pain, increase function, and teach the patient a maintenance program to prevent future back problems. Common forms of physical therapy include: 1.Passive physical therapy (modalities), which includes things done to the patient, such as heat application, ice packs and electrical stimulation. For example, a heating pad may be applied to warm up the muscles prior to doing exercising and stretching, and an ice pack may be used afterward to sooth the muscles and soft tissues. OSee Physical Therapy: Passive PT (Modalities) for Back Pain 2.Active physical therapy, which focuses on specific exercises and stretching. For most low back pain treatments, active exercise is the focus of the physical therapy program. This article focuses on active physical therapy and exercise as a means to help recover from back problems and prevent or minimize future flare-ups of low back pain Low back pain has lasted between two and six weeks, or if there are frequent recurrences of low back pain, physical therapy is often recommended. Some spine specialists consider physical therapy sooner, particularly if the pain is severe. •Read more: Exercise and Back Pain In general, the goals of physical therapy are to decrease pain, increase function, and provide education on a maintenance program to prevent further recurrences. A physical therapy program for back pain usually has two components: 1.Passive physical therapy to help reduce the patient's pain to a more manageable level 2.Active exercises Passive Physical Therapy - Modalities Acutely, the physical therapist may focus on decreasing pain with passive physical therapy (modalities). These therapies are considered passive because they are done to the patient. Examples of modalities include: •Heat/ice packs •TENS units •Iontophoresis •Ultrasound.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

What is sciatica pain? Pain in my right leg and hips too much. Doctor of ortho told that this is sciatica pain and give medicines for 15 days but no result. Kindly advice what to do or some exercises related to.

BPTh/BPT, MIAP
Physiotherapist, Ghaziabad
It may be due weakness of muscles or nerves causing difficulty in blood flow to your back radiating to your legs. Or it may be due to slip disc of back at lumbar reagion resulting in sciatic nerve compression causing radiating pain & numbness to lower back & legs. If your doctor did'nt reffered you for physiotherapy compaint him for misguiding you and not suggesting you the right treatment. As physiotherapy is the only treatment to save you from back surgery. You should go for physiotherapy treatment for it to reduce pain and to improve muscle power of back.
