Sir my father is treated for tb from 2 day after taking resorine his fever goes high 102-103. 7f (he has spine tb) bt platinum tb test is negative.

DNB
Pulmonologist, Mumbai
His fever may be because of tb. And secondly risorine is not a very good drug to treat in cases of pulmonary TB. There are not much studies in that. Rather conventional tb drugs should be given for the treatment.

Hello, My mother is 45 years old, Recently she was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia last week. She is at rest now. For the last 4-5 days she is suffering from mild fever, watery stool frequently (6-7 times a day). She is having ulcerative colitis and she withdrew from intaking steroids 5-6 days back. Is it related somehow?

Hi, I appreciate seeking help for your mother. Possibly an adrenal insufficiency and its associated symptoms, similar to the ones described in your question above, needs to be ruled out in your mother's case. Although steroids may not be the real cause that could have precipitated a sinus tachycardia, its good to have discontinued steroids for the time being. Its advisable that she be monitored closely now, and the case clinically examined by both an experienced endocrinologist, as well as a gastro-enterologist for further medical traction as deems appropriate. As regards her ulcerative colitis, try streamline her diet which should mostly comprise of softly cooked or steamed vegetables with less of oil, ghee, spices et al. The more bland the diet is, easily digestible will it be and the better it will be for your health/ recovery. Also, do consume well ripened fruits especially papaya & banana. Buttermilk and coconut water too are immensely valuable in this condition. Please note that banana and coconut water as advised above, be best avoided if her potassium levels are already high. Take plenty of water daily, and ensure that you get enough of bed rest, avoiding stress/ strain/ anxieties. Also, take care not to strain while passing stools. A light abdominal massage on a regular basis also helps. Hope this helps her. Do take care and all the very best.

Get plenty of rest, especially while you have a fever. Rest helps your body fight infection. Stop smoking and avoid secondhand smoke, which can make cold symptoms worse Drink lots of fluids such as water and clear soups. Fluids help loosen mucus. Fluids are also important because they help prevent dehydration. Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day to relieve a sore throat. Throat sprays or lozenges may also help relieve the pain. Avoid alcohol. Use saline (salt water) nose drops to help loosen mucus and moisten the tender skin in your nose.

If in FNAC report it is mentioned as tuberculosis lymphadenitis then is it mandatory for excisional biopsy to be done for (Genexpert, AFB culture,& Histopathology)?

MBBS, MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
Well the diagnosis of TB requires certain specific pathology report. Better you put the exact wordings here and not just tuberculos lymphadenitis. If the FNAC report is confirmatory.(the exact report needs to be seen) and this is the first time such a diagnosis is made. New or first diagnosis. With no previous history of any form of TB or TB medicine intake. No past history of HIV or other co-existing poor immune states (for example cancer/diabetes/post transplant/certain immune suppressive medicine intake. Then treatment can be started straight away without theother tests like Excision biopsy for Gene Xpert, AFB culture or histopathology. If any of the of the other criteria as mentioned above are satisfied then go for biopsy.

dear sneha. 1st of all 1 thing i want to clear that climbing of 6 floors is good exercise capacity for a normal daily moderately working people. if you want me to add more scientific details. climbing more than 5 flight of stairs requires at least >20ml/kg/min of o2 supply through lungs, which is far greater than normal consumption of 250 ml/min. so you are feeling all those symptoms. as far as my knowledge is concerned no need for further testing... if u want further clarification contact me by replying to this message

You can feel weak due to lack of essential nutrients, not getting enough sleep, a weak immune system, excessive drinking, skipping meals, emotional stress, and too much physical labor. Persistent weakness can be caused by health problems like anemia, arthritis, hypothyroidism, a sleep disorder, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes and heart disease. In these cases, it is very important to find out the exact cause behind your weakness. To feel energetic and refreshed in life, you must exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, maintain your ideal body weight, follow a good diet, sleep properly, drink water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated, avoid alcohol and stop smoking if you do .

Seasonal allergy causes some symptoms sinusitis rashes sneeze during rainy season what should I do to get rid of it.
Allergy is an abnormal state of hyper sensitivity and hyper susceptibility in a person. It shows itself by immediate influence and abnormal response to a specific substance. The same substance is harmless in similar amounts for the majority of people. Your allergic problem can be very well treated by homoeopathy without adverse effects.
