Hi Doc, I was diagnosed with PCOD almost 15 years back. I have never had a natural period. I have taken allopathic, homeopathic as well as ayurvedic treatment but none of them could help me to get a natural period and cure my PCOD. Allopathic Doc usually put me on contraceptive pills like Yasmin but it ultimately had lot of side effects which made me quit being on contraceptive pills. I took ayurveda treatment for almost 1 and half years but it couldn't be cured anf later docs suggested me panchakrma treatment which I am yet to take. These days I have facing sugar hair fall pattern alopecia which hasn't cured with saw palmetto neither with bringraj oil. After doing lot of research I came across these natural herbs called VITEX, MYO-INOSITOL, MILK THISTLE, Zinc supplements and I would like to know how beneficial are these om indian women and being unmarried can I start taking these supplements? I'm really going through a stressful situation and need proper guidance from you all. Thank you in advance.

First of all, are you overweight? If yes, in that case weight reduction is the only solution for all your problems. Also starting Metformin, which is a anti diabetic drug also would help you by decreasing insulin resistance and bring down your androgen levels. Instead of Yasmin, I would like to suggest you any brand with Cyproterone, sothat will counter your hair fall etc, which is caused by raised androgens at present. If still no effect, then you might have to go for laparoscopif drilling of ovaries. However, since You're not marrried yet, it would be safer to avoid any surgical intervention, which again has its inherent risks.

If there is no issue of pregnancy then you should wait for some more days for the menses to stop and then observe for a month before seeking any medical help or treatment for this. Hormonal changes can cause this and is not uncommon among young girls.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help for your mother. Hormonal changes from monthly menstruation can trigger cysts. However, breast cysts are usually benign. Nevertheless, to be on a safer side, I would advise you to get this clinically examined by her ob/ gyn right away and not delay any further. In general, do follow a streamlined diet (preferably mediterranean) and lifestyle with due emphasis on regular exercise, stress reduction and relaxation. Should she have any pain, she may apply an alternating heat and cold treatment for couple of minutes that may alleviate the same. She needs to stay well hydrated and can take'amla churna' (patanjali) &'bael churna (patanjali- 1/2 tsp each with warm water, preferably before lunch daily for next 1 month. She can also take tomato soup to which fresh herbs like garlic, turmeric, black pepper, ginger, coriander leaves and oregano has been added, once daily. Her ob/ gyn shall be able to advise further on, in particular, once he/ she gets to clinically examine her in person. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely,

Hello, with hemoglobin of 7.3 (severe anaemia), surgical evacuation is better than medical abortion as bleeding is in excess in the second option. Please consul a gynecologist.

Hello doc today 16th day, my follicle size is 18*15mm when is the possible day to ovulate?
To calculate ovulation day simply substract 14 from your cycle days. Eg if your cycle is of 26 days so 26-14=12 that is 12 the day is your ovulation day.
