My son is 7 weeks old. Whenever I breastfeed him he takes out all the milk from nose and mouth even after I finish off with his burp. And cries continuously the whole day. He does not like when I wrap him also. What exactly can it be?

Bringing out milk is normal in the babies. Don’t put the baby down immediately after feeding, carry him with head slightly up for 10-15 min, this will prevent vomiting. If he is vomiting more than 50% of the feed and not gaining weight, then he as to be investigated for other problems. Don’t wrap too much, babies like to kick the legs and move the hands .over wrapping increases temperature and makes the baby very uncomfortable, so they might cry.

Are there any long-term effects associated with taking ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) medications? If so, what are they and what medications are implicated? Can numerous fibroids and an enlarged uterus cause bladder prolapse? Why does my gynecologist think my bladder bulging into my vaginal canal is a fibroid even after I was sent to a urologist for stress incontinence issues?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Use of stimulant decreases the symptoms to a much good effect and if we don't give stimulant medication there will be more of conduct disorder and progress in disease and for side effects we have to monitor the person and advice them accordingly and enlarged uterus can cause bladder prolapse as its an anatomical variation.

Dear lybrate-user, How are you? You are in pain of fatherhood, I understood. Your son is having Congenital anomaly and Surgery is the only option. Go to fully equipped hospital with full ICU support & well qualified Urologist, Nephrologist & neonetologist. Any type of surgery you can choose either open or Lap. Acoordind to my experience, Open surgery will be better for this condition. But, if expert lap. Urologist is available, you can have that choice. Both have its ifs & buts. Whatever your treating doctor suggest, go for it. Mind well, only God is Great and not the Doctor. We, Surgeons are also humanbeing, trying our best for betterhood of patient. Best of Luck.

My daughter is about 4 years old. She is around 10 kg in weight. I am giving her aptivate syrup for appetite but she in very loose in hunger. Please suggest what to do.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Jaipur
your daughter is grossely undernourished (ideal weight at 4 yrs is 16 kg). She does not reqiure any appetite stimulants but sufficient diet given at frequent intervals in gradually increasing quantities.Appetite is a natural reflex in body stimulated by body requrements, but it is diminished in sickness & chronic malnutrition. She will improve if you feed her regular intervals in gradually increasing amounts. It may take around 6 months to catch up.Make sure she is not having any chronic illness.
