I am suffering from cervical spine dease last 5 years so please suggest some medicine.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, MPT, BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Chennai
This is cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help to reduce the pain and feel relaxed and comfortable. You shall also do hot water fermentation that would improve the blood circulation to the painful area and thereby the pain would be reduced. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain and also that would improve the cervical angle and improve the anatomical posture. The pain actually triggers due to nerve compression and that would definitely improve by wearing a cervical collar.

I am a 21 years old boy having backache, is it right to make my sister trample me in heels to get relief?

Hi I can understand your problem. Do not tell to trample. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold foementation. # change sleeping position. # use lumber support. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back and core muscles not all back pains are same, you need specific treatment plan according to your symptoms.

I sustained a small wrist injury while lifting weights in gym. The pain has sustained for a week now inspite of applying heat and volini. There is pain in twisting the wrist but not if I press with my other hand. Do I need an xray or should I wait for some more time to heal?

Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

Dear sir. My son had muscular dystrophy diseases since 12 years. Doctors are advised no medication.

Dear sir. My son had muscular dystrophy diseases since 12 years. Doctors are advised no medication.
Hello sir, no treatment is currently available to stop or reverse any form of muscular dystrophy (md). Instead, certain therapies and medications aim to treat the various problems that result from md and improve the quality of life for patients. These include the following -physical therapy -respiratory therapy -speech therapy -occupational therapy -corrective surgery -drug therapy: his doctor may recommend: corticosteroids, such as prednisone, which can help improve muscle strength and delay the progression of certain types of muscular dystrophy. But prolonged use of these types of drugs can cause weight gain and weaken bones, increasing fracture risk. Heart medications, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors or beta blockers, if muscular dystrophy damages the heart.

Maybe you have muscular spasm or cervical pain. Do hot fomentation twice daily. Do not take pillow and try to sit with proper support. Do isotonic exercise of neck followed by isometric exercise after 3-4 days when you feel relief in pain.

I have a problem in my knee after an accident. It does not create problem except cycling. What should I do?

I have a problem in my knee after an accident. It does not create problem except cycling. What should I do?
Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

I have scapular winging problem whom I should consult orthopaedic or physiotherapist. What what is difference between them.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, MPT, BPTh/BPT

I have scapular winging problem whom I should consult orthopaedic or physiotherapist. What what is difference between...
A winged scapula is associated with damage or a contusion to the long thoracic nerve of the shoulder and / or weakness in the Serratus Anterior muscle. If the long thoracic nerve is damaged or bruised it can cause paralysis of the serratus anterior muscle and winging of the scapular or shoulder blade. Treatment for Winged Scapula or Scapular Winging •Conservative Treatment for Winged Scapula or Scapular Winging- Application of ice may be helpful to reduce pain associated with Winged Scapula or Scapular Winging, although it is a very difficult endeavor as it is a very tough place to apply ice. Cold application works better than warm or heat treatment for Winged Scapula or Scapular Winging. •Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation for Winged Scapula or Scapular Winging- Strengthening of weak muscle and retraining of normal predominant muscle can reduce the deformity and pain. •Surgical Treatment- The long thoracic nerve is repositioned surgically if entrapped in scar tissue or pinched following injury or trauma. 1 •Strengthening is definitely required for the Serratus Anterior Muscle.
