I am 29 year old man from India. Last week I had chest pain, it lasted few minutes. Yesterday I again felt it. Is it sign of heart attack?

1.For your age pain chest could be due to anxiety, stress, Physical and mental strain,hyper acidity, muscular problem 2. Avoid stress and strain 3.Do regular exercise, reduce your weight if over weight. 4.Control your diet. Avoid oily/spicy/fried and junk food,high calorie and cholesterol rich diet.Take small frequent meals(5-6 meals/day instead of three heavy meals).If you have hyper acidity take one tablet of pan 40 in the morning before breakfast daily for few days 5.Do Yoga, Meditation, deep breathing exercise like pranayama etc. It will calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress. 6.Have sound sleep for 7-8 hours daily. 7.Avoid smoking,alcohol, excess tea/coffee, if you are having 8. Drink plenty of water and take rest 9. Take paracetamol 500mg one tablet sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets per day at the time of chest pain 10.if you have recurrent attack of chest pain check your BP, take ECG and consult cardiologist 11.Consult me for further advice

I know I overeat at meals, but I can't help it. If I limit my portions, I'm hungry an hour later. How can I avoid overeating and have better control of my appetite? (I'm 5'6" and weigh more than 220 pounds.)

For a normal weight reducing diet, the quality of food is reduced as per the reduced calorie restrictions. Emphasis is given or more roughage and liquids. The following items are deleted:- a) butter, ghee and coconuts chutney. B) fried food items. C) egg yolk. D) high calorie fruits like banana. This diet provides about 1000-1200 calories and 40-45gm of protein.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To rule out any cardiac problem do ECG, echo & tmt test - also take some dietary precaution, have more of fibre containing foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, legumes, lentils, sprouts, nuts - avoid fried, processed & junk food - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming for 15-20 min, also do yoga & deep breathing for 5-10 min daily morning.

Urinary infectipn can be worsened. You should basically abstain from sex in all forms totally till she completes requisite antibiptic course and is cured.

Add 1spoon honey and chawanprash in morning and evening and have 2 cups of milk wth almonds kishmish banana in morning and evening. Avoid fry spicy junk food and aerated drinks and do 30mints of exercise in the day avoid excess salt and spices. Do deep breathing 5times inhale exhale from left nostril than same from right nostril.

I am 18. I am not able to sleep at night for several days. And also suffering from a minor headache at night what should I do?

The following suggestions are intended to help overcome temporary insomnia and maximize the chance of getting a healthy night's sleep: 1) make your bedroom an inviting place. Keep the room free of clutter and distractions. Be sure you have the right bed and mattress for your needs. The wrong mattress can lead to musculoskeletal problems and sleep disturbances. 2) use the bed only for sleeping. Avoid use of the bed for watching tv, eating, working, or any other activities. If you do wish to use the bed for a bit of nighttime reading, read only pleasure books in bed. Therapists often use" reconditioning" as part of a treatment plan for insomnia. With this method, people are" reconditioned" to associate the bed with sleep. If you find yourself unable to sleep at all, get out of bed and move to another room, so that you only associate the bed with sleep and not with wakefulness. 3) establish a regular sleep-wake cycle. Your body will learn to set its internal clock to your schedule and will eventually respond to internal cues to become sleepy at a given time and to awaken at a given time. A good way to begin this is by getting up at the same time every morning, even on weekends. 4) don't nap. No matter how tempting it may be, an afternoon nap can make falling asleep at night even harder" extra" sleep on weekends can also throw off your regular sleep schedule and worsen midweek insomnia. 5) limit your consumption of caffeine in the afternoon and evening. Remember that eating chocolates and drinking cocoa and colas also are sources of caffeine. Watch your alcohol intake. Don't drink any alcoholic beverages in the few hours prior to going to bed. Excessive amounts of alcohol at any time in the day can also disrupt sleep patterns and lead to unsatisfying sleep. 6) cigarette smoking can also worsen insomnia. 7) fit in some exercise during the day, but don't exercise strenuously right before bedtime. 8) eat light meals in the evening. Eating heavily in the evening or eating just prior to going to bed can disrupt your sleep. 9) establish a" winding down" ritual in the evenings just prior to bedtime. Try to free your mind of distracting or troublesome thoughts and engage in a relaxing, enjoyable activity like reading, listening to music, or watching a pleasant film. For people with chronic insomnia, a type of therapy called cognitive-behavioral therapy with homeopathic medicine may help reduce anxiety linked to insomnia, such as anxiety about sleep loss. Studies have shown that the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy with homeopathic medicine are more long lasting.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user! Sir please take cetrizine 10 mg tab at bedtime and for your cough pls take cofdex syrup 10 ml 3 times every day for 5 days. Home remedy for cough will be to roast a laung on a pan and crush it and put the powder on a teaspoon of honey and eat it before bedtime. And avoid drinking or eating anything after it. If you are experiencing fever also please take paracetamol 500 mg two times. If your fever/cough/cold is extending to more than 5 days then pls get blood investigations done to find out the cause of your infection so you can start antibiotics hope you get well soon take care.
