I have leg pain from and cough from 2 months please suggest medical advice for the same.
Quadriceps strengthening exercises- Quad Clenches: Lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, Hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short Arcs: Lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight Leg Raise: Lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Backache-1

Backache is the oldest agony that the mankind suffers from. In the prehistoric era, even the angels must have suffered from it. Though in the ancient Indian literature, no direct mention of this disease is made, it can be safely assumed that in the epic period of Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamaha must have had some backache when he was lying on the bed of thorns.

Whatever be the exact aetiology of backache, it is for the medical scientist and the Pundits in the field to determine. Human back is a big Pandora box. Causes for backache are many. They range from a thorn prick in the foot to prolapsed intervertebral disc in the spine. Even, a trauma to human pride can cause backache. It will be no exaggeration to compare the backache with an elephant that the six blind men wanted to know about. One of them called it a pillar, other called it a wall, third called it a rope, fourth it a flap of leather, and so on. Similarly many scientists have approached the problem of backache from different angles and have ascribed as many reasons as its causes and suggested remedies for the same; depending on their own concept of human back - its structure and functions.

In last few decades, much scientific work has been done; data compiled and analysed to determine the exact cause of backache. It is estimated that at one point or other in their lives, eight out of every ten people on earth suffer from this universal affliction. It can strike almost everyone, the young and the old, male and female, people of all classes 7 and profession. Biggest leaders of the world have suffered from backache. President John F Kennedy spent hours in the soothing comforts of White House rocking chair, only to nurse his backache,

This was his wartime injury.

The largest group of people who suffer from this are the young housewives who have small children and are fully occupied at home. They have no outside job. When they have backache, a double burden is imposed on the family. If the person affected is the chief bread earner, then the situation becomes all the more worse.

Backache is not a killing disease, but it certainly cripples the individual for the time being. No one except the victim can truly understand the complete sense of helplessness and despair that overcomes, once an energetic adult who is suddenly struck down by the devastating, usually temporary ailment. The victim's world quickly shrinks, often limited at the onset to bed or couch. Work and household rituals are totally ignored due to pain. Dressing becomes torturous, a visit to toilet is a major expedition, sitting in chair for reading or eating can be an agony. Sex becomes virtually impossible. Even after the pain subsides, the sufferer wonders, almost at every turn, whether it will strike again.

Beyond the personal grief, back pain exerts a staggering socio-economic cost. Million and millions of work days are lost each year because of a backache. It is the single largest cause of worker absenteeism in all the countries of the world.

The remedies are simple and effective in most of cases. The most important being 'not to get tense and nervous'. An objective personal assessment of the disability with a relaxed mind and a wilful relaxation of the whole body coupled with a few pills and postures ( remedial exercises) is perhaps the secret of success in getting rid of this man's oldest agony. But in some cases even surgery or psychotherapy may be needed.

In the present series, I have attempted, step by step, how to modify the style of daily living so that this 'devastating though temporary ailment' can be prevented.

I advise you to start exercising and do yoga. Twitching could be due to less oxygen in your blood which will increase when you do some breathing exercises.

Excercise is an important part of life. After all injury the muscles needs to work harder to compensate for the instability. The muscle needs excercise to regain its strength. The muscles if weak will lead to having chronic pain of the knee. Studies have shown that it takes almost a year for the muscles to regain the full strength of the muscles.

I am 34 years, I am suffring from knees and backache pain. And whenever I was walking then breathing problem.

Diploma in Acupuncture, Pranic Healing, MD - Acupuncture

It appears that you are overweight. Take steps by doing regular exercises, gong for a brisk walk. Pl ask somebody to massage your spinal column from neck down upto sacral bone using both hands ie both thumbs on one side other fingers on other side do only from neck and not from sacral to the neck. Yo can also use a wodden roller purchased from a accupressure items shop. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Also take calcium tablets for a limited period 2 months consult after 10 days.

Majority of the low back ache problems is because of faulty posture. While sitting avoid leaning forwards or backwards. Try to sit straight. And avoid sitting for longer duration. If your job requires prolonged sitting then take frequent breaks and walk for some time. For symptomatic relief you can apply hot formentation with water bottles twice daily. And apply locally any pain relieving ointment.

Dear serious back problems are those which affect the spinal cord and nerve roots. You will have problems with radiating pain down the legs and if the nerve roots are compressed you can also have numbness. The more compression and you can also have weakness. There are lot of conditions which can lead to this ranging from discitis, disc prolapse, infections of the spine, seronegative inflammatory conditions, tumours, stenosis, listhesis etc. You will need to undergo blood tests and initially plain xrays before going for special blood tests and higher radiological investigation. You might be suffering from osteoarthritis for the confirmation of which we would need to do a clinical examination and an x-ray. In the meanwhile you should start using western toilets only, avoid squatting or sitting cross legged at all. Start taking a diet rich in calcium and vitamin d like eggs, non veg food if possible, take an early morning walk in sunlight which help replenish your body stores of vit. D the deformity of your knees would have to be assessed on an x-ray and if found to be severe arthritis you might have to undergo a replacement. You should start the conservative treatment I suggested and follow up. Hope his helps.
