You can give her homoeopathic medicine bryonia alba 30-5 pills 3-4 times daily for 2 weeks. Avoid sitting in squatting position. Avoid Indian style toilets, use western toilets. Report back after 2 weeks with feedback so that we can suggest accordingly.

Fibromyalgia - Signs & Symptoms That You Should Not Ignore!

Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal disorder that is characterized by pain in the muscles and the joints. This disorder leads to the development of multiple tender points on the body, wherein, a very small amount of pressure applied might result in pain. In some cases, social isolation and depression may occur as a result of this disorder.

The symptoms of fibromyalgia are:
1. You will have difficulties in sleeping at night
2. You may experience mental problems and cognitive dysfunction
3. Light and noise sensitivity
4. Irritable bowel syndrome
5. A numb feeling on your hands and feet
6. Chronic headaches
7. You may experience painful periods
8. Restless legs syndrome
9. You may be depressed

The muscles of the body tend to feel overworked, even though you may not have exercised. You may also experience deep throbbing pain and burning sensation in the muscles. In addition, it may cause symptoms similar to osteoarthritis and bursitis. You are at a higher risk of being affected by fibromyalgia if you have a family history of this particular disease.

Some other causes of this disease are:
1. Certain infections and illness may lead to fibromyalgia
2. Car accidents
3. Any repetitive motion

The treatments for this disorder include:

  1. Sleep management: Optimal levels of sleep at night help in improving symptoms of fibromyalgia. Don’t drink coffee or consume spicy foods before going to bed as these have the ability to interfere with your sleep cycles.
  2. Medications: The doctor may prescribe medications to manage the pain. Taking anti-depressants may be necessary if you suffer from depression.
  3. Other therapies: Massage treatments help in easing the symptoms of fibromyalgia. You may continue with your exercise regimen after consulting the doctor. Relaxation techniques like mediation may help improving your mental health. You may also be asked to include various food supplements to make sure your body receives the necessary nutrients in the right amounts. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Could you please tell me how long it tool to cure Ankylosing Spondylitis or medicine need to continue? I am on medicine for last 5+ years.

DNB, MBBS, Fellowship in foot and ankle surgery
Orthopedist, Noida
Sir, there is no cure for ankylosing spondylitis in allopathy, drugs available are only to control or delay the disease process, so drugs will continue lifelong. Side effects and efficacy of the drugs will have to be monitored from time to time and doses adjusted accordingly.

Whenever I play basketball for a couple of days continuously my lower back begins to hurt. It reduces if I stop playing but comes back if I start again. This has been since almost a year. Should I be worried?

Whenever I play basketball for a couple of days continuously my lower back begins to hurt. It reduces if I stop playi...
The sudden movements and jerking motions required by basketball often result in strains that cause lower back pain. Low-impact aerobic methods often help prevent or relieve lower back pain by building strength and endurance in your back, which enhances muscle function. Aerobic exercise also helps Over-the-counter pain medicine with ibuprofen or acetaminophen often provides relief from minor back pain within a few weeks. Some cases of back pain normalize after an injection of cortisone, or anti-inflammatory medicine. Surgery is an option when your pain is severe and accompanies leg pain or muscle weakness that worsens over time.

Hi lybrate-user! Did you have a c -section? Because low back pain after c section is quite common and takes time to become better. But if you had a normal delivery then check with your gynaecologist if you have pelvic infection and take treatment for it. Also you might need to get your vitamin D and calcium checked up.
