On of my eyes is smaller than the other. It's not a big difference but I can easily notice it. Do I have some kind of disease?

If its been like this since birth, then leave it as it is, but if its a latest development, and there is no. Blurring of vision in that eyes, then get it checked with a neurologist.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 18 years so your number will not increase much now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

DIABETES AND THE RETINA! How can people with diabetes protect their vision?

DIABETES AND THE RETINA! How can people with diabetes protect their vision?

DIABETES AND THE RETINA! How can people with diabetes protect their vision?

The IMPORTANCE of early treatment

Although a person's vision may be good, changes taking place in the retina may require treatment. Most sight loss due to diabetes is preventable if treated early. The earlier the treatment is given the more effective it is.

In a nutshell: Early diagnosis is vital.

Annual retinal screening appointment is quintessential.

Worsening of vision may not necessarily mean diabetic retinopathy. It may simply be a problem that can be rectified with glasses.

Vision lost to diabetic retinopathy is sometimes irreversible. Women with diabetes who become pregnant should have a comprehensive dilated eye exam as soon as possible. Additional exams during pregnancy may be needed.

Multiple studies have shown that controlling diabetes slows the onset and worsening of diabetic retinopathy. Other trials have also demonstrated that controlling elevated blood pressure and cholesterol can reduce the risk of vision loss among people with diabetes.

Treatment for diabetic retinopathy is often delayed until it starts to progress to a complicated or irreversible stage. Comprehensive frequent dilated eye exams are needed more frequently as diabetic retinopathy becomes more severe. People with a high risk of developing complications may need a comprehensive dilated eye exam as often as every month.

To summarize, early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy is important.

Don't wait for the vision to deteriorate to have an eye test.

Inform your eye specialist in case you notice changes to your vision.

Feel free to ask questions or express fears about your treatment.

Strict control of sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol reduce the risk of diabetes-related sight loss.

Smoking increases your risk of diabetes-related sight loss.

I was applying for an exam. The criteria for vision is 6/6. What does it mean? How much minus- point is that?

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
6/6 means fully normal vision. Some people don't need glasses, minus or plus, and some do need correction. The implication for job purpose, especially for police or military service, is 6/6 (full vision) without the need for any correction by spectacles or any means.

Hell. I'm ram I'm 26 yearly old. I hav e short sight problem. I want to clear the problem without glasses. Can I?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, you should do these exercises to strengthen the eye muscles. Exercises for eyes: warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Doctor's Advice On How To Keep Your Eyes Safe This Diwali

Doctor's Advice On How To Keep Your Eyes Safe This Diwali
Tip for eye care

This is the worst time of the year, for your eyes. Pollution from firecrackers, smog due to weather change and generally ever increasing vehicular pollution adds up to be the worst for your eye health.

Protect your eyesight and take care of your eyes by following these simple daily eye care tips.

1. Eat Well: Protect your eyes from within. Eat for good vision. Eat foods that have various nutrients such as omega 3 fatty acids, zinc and lutein, vitamins A, C and E to keep eye problems at bay. Green leafy vegetables, salmon and other oily fishes, eggs and nuts, orange and citrus fruits are great for eyesight.

2. Quit Smoking: For better eye-care leave smoking. This simple activity can make you likelier to get optic nerve damage, macular degeneration and cataracts.

3. Have eye-care routine: Most of us don’t have an eye care routine, which is essential for keeping them fit. So, develop a good eye-care routine. In this routine, practice eye exercises, focusing eyes on a point far away to promote muscle development. Clean eyes everyday with fresh, clean water to reduce eye mites and other problems.

4. Wear Sunglasses: Wearing sunglasses on a regular basis will protect eyes from UV rays and ensure protection. This will help in reducing the chances of getting cataracts and developing macular degeneration.

5. Use Safety Wear: It is important that you regularly wear safety wear problems. For instance, for sports, wear eye protection products, sports goggles or protective face masks.

6. Look away from computer: A lot of us use computers too much for work and recreation. Now is the time to look away from it. Staring at the computer for long can cause eyestrain and blurry vision, trouble focusing at a distance and result in dry eyes as well as neck and shoulder pain with headaches. So, take regular breaks from that computer.
