Beat The Heat This Summer With HealthAsta

According to Ayurveda, health is our natural, balanced state. Ayurveda defines the many substances and influences, both internal and external, that are beneficial and detrimental to our bodies.

Of the three doshas in Ayurveda, pitta is the hottest, oiliest, and sharpest. If you're feeling overheated in any way, there could be an excess of the pitta dosha occuring within your body.

Reducing Body Heat with Ayurveda:

1. Avoid fried, spicy foods. Instead, a diet rich in foods such as, cucumber and steamed green vegetables, buttermilk and muskmelon are also known to reduce body heat.

2. Drink plenty of cold water to reduce body heat with ayurveda effectively.

3. Sabja (basil) seeds, soaked in water for some time and then added to milk with rosewater are effective in reducing body heat.

4. Yoga exercises, such as pranayama, suryanamaskar and trikonasana help in cooling the body. Combined with meditation, they calm your body and mind.

5. Herbal teas made from coriander, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and rosewater, improve metabolism and help lower body temperature.

6. Massage your body with coconut oil is one of the best oils to maintain body temperature.

7. Yogurt is a natural cooling agent.

8. You can also take a mixture of milk and one teaspoon almond powder with a pinch of turmeric powder to reduce body heat with Ayurveda.

There is no single way to reduce body heat with Ayurveda. These tips may prove usefull to BEAT UP THE HEAT THIS SUMMER.

7 Ways To Manage Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)!

7 Ways To Manage Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)!

Premenstrual syndrome or PMS is a common phenomenon that happens to over 75% of menstruating women. It refers to a set of symptoms that a woman experiences 7 to 10 days within the onset of her monthly period. The symptoms often cause great discomfort to the woman, but disappear soon after the period gets over.

The symptoms include muscle cramps, headache, body ache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, mood swings and a lot more. This is not a pathogen related disease. It is caused due to hormonal imbalance before the start of menses in women. The level of female hormones i.e. estrogen and progesterone fluctuate inside a woman’s body prior to the menses. They are believed to have an impact on certain chemicals released by the brain. Therefore, women experience these symptoms during this time of their monthly cycle.

You don’t need to depend on strict medication to get rid of these symptoms. They can vanish if you make some changes in your lifestyle. Here are some natural ways to get rid of these symptoms:

  1. Check your diet: In order to enjoy a healthy period, you need to avoid certain food items. Trans fats and hydrogenated fats can increase these symptoms. Cut down on the sugar content of your meal as high sugar level can give birth to some of these symptoms like mood swings, headache, nausea, etc. It is also important to check the water content in your body. It is advisable to avoid salt as too much water retention can be bad. Too much consumption of caffeine can cause depression and anxiety.
  2. Go for a holistic and balanced diet: Women must include sufficient amounts of minerals and vitamins in their diet to avoid PMS. Try eating foods that are rich in magnesium such as bananas and leafy green vegetables. Also consume Vitamin A rich foods, mainly yellow and orange vegetables.
  3. Take up some light exercises: Light aerobic exercises may help you in getting some relief from bloated stomach and pain. But, don’t exert yourself in doing stressful exercises.
  4. Try some heat: Applying a heat pad can provide relief from muscle cramps and abdominal pain. Heat dilates the blood vessels and improves flow of blood through them. This provides relief from any sort of pain.
  5. Drink right: It is true that too much retention of water in the body can worsen PMS. But it is advisable that you drink sufficient amount of water during the periods or before it starts. As experts say, water itself can hinder water retention in your body. Besides water, go for herbal drinks like a cup of hot ginger tea. Some herbal drinks can work wonders in preventing PMS.
  6. Sleep well: Adequate night sleep is a must for menstruating women.
  7. Oil message: Use lavender oil and cypress oil to avoid muscle cramps and tension.

Our Daily energy requirements for proper functioning of our body is 1600-2200 K cal of Energy if we want to remain fit and healthy. But there is a misconception that weight is reduced by dieting. But weight is not reduced by only skipping our meals or prohibition from sugars but until we are not aware what are our body energy requirements, it will be difficult to loose weight. If we restrict ourself from taking daily diet to 1100-1200 Kcalories, and increases our workouts, only then we can think about reducing our weight and for that we must obtain proper knowledge of exact energy levels in a particular dish we are eating, only then we can achieve our target of reducing weight by means of simple mathematical calculation Diet Plan for Weight Loss (1200 calories)-- Food ItemAmountCalories (kcal)Protein (g) Early Morning Lukewarm water with lemon1 cupTea (without sugar)1 cup35Kcal4g Marie biscuits256 KcalBreakfast Skimmed milk with sugar1 glass90 Kcal8g Brown bread upma1 plate205 Kcal6g ORBesan Chilla2290 Kcal12g Mid-Morning Fruit salad1 small bowl40 KcalLunch Veg Khichdi1 medium bowl202.5 Kcal9.5g Veg raita1 small bowl75 Kcal3.5g Mix veg salad1 bowl30 Kcal2g Evening Tea (without sugar)1 cup35 Kcal4g Wheat rusk2120 Kcal6g Dinner Missi roti (without oil)2200 Kcal6g Mix veg1 medium bowl95 Kcal4g Curd1 small bowl30 Kcal1.5g Total1213 kcal54.5 g -CINNAMON POWDER (DALCHINI)- Cinnamon is a local spice and famous for its sweet aroma. Fat loss is a gradual process. There is no quick fix approach. Following a healthy diet which has optimal amounts of first class proteins (dairy, egg, chicken etc) reduced carbohydrates (white rice, poha etc) & healthy fats (almonds, walnuts etc) along with a structured exercise program that is balanced with weight training and cardio will surely help. You cannot target specific areas, fat is lost uniformly, but it may appear to go faster from the areas where you store less than the problem areas. Be consistent and patient. Kindly consult us for a customized diet and workout plan.

Hi lybrate-user to gain muscles you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.
