Hi I want to know about my high diabetics please tell me something how can I make a relief from diabetes.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Hi I want to know about my high diabetics please tell me something how can I make a relief from diabetes.
Diabetes affects all organs in the body? eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, in fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient and doctor should be in constant touch for regular follow up and advice. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (self-monitoring of blood glucose? smbg). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of fasting sugar (fbs) and 2 hours after food (ppbs),& hba1c (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner.

Should we eat herbalife products to become fit. Many people told me it is safe and good for health.
There are no short cuts to health. Herbal life is a meal replacement with some energy drink which is mainly caffeine. If you do this for some time you will lose fat but once you start eating whole foods there is full chance of gaining the fat back.

Super Diets Vs Super Foods - What Exactly They Are?

M.Phil biotech and PGD Dietitics
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Panchkula
Super Diets Vs Super Foods - What Exactly They Are?

There is a palpable buzz around superfoods all over the world. One day quinoa is being hailed as the star among foods and the next day everyone is falling head over heels over the benefits of kuttu (buckwheat).

One wonders what makes certain foods qualify for the ‘superfood’ label. One, they need to be loaded with vital nutrients and vitamins. Second, they need to help in treating or lowering the risk of certain diseases? Let us explore a bit more.

What most of us do not realize is that a lot of superfoods have been around for centuries and our grandparents and ancestors have long been consuming them for their health benefits. It is only now that they have been re-discovered and are hitting the headlines. At the same time, a lot of exotic superfoods are being introduced, which are difficult to source and generally rather expensive.

The food industry wants to persuade us that eating some foods can slow down the ageing process, lift depression, boost our physical ability, and even our intelligence. Had that been the case, mother nature would have created only those foods and not so many kinds of foods, with different nutritive values.

The problem with some of the superfoods being aggressively marketed is that they are exotic in nature. So, unless you have the local or native super foods, not only would they be difficult to source but would also make a huge dent into the pocket. So, one would have something like kale only occasionally. Healthy, yes, but would one consume it every day? Probably not!

We over here prefer to talk about ‘Super Diets’ and like to avoid the use of the term ‘superfoods’. The emphasis is on a healthy, balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables and wholegrain foods, which are all easy to source.

So, what should be our strategy to a super diet?

  1. Eating foods and vegetables that are in season. Seasonal fruits and vegetables provide maximum health benefits and nutritional requirement for that time of the year. For example, bottle gourd (ghiya or doodhi) is a summer vegetable and is widely recommended for weight loss, managing high cholesterol and hypertension. But one must remember that since it is rich in water content (96 gm per 100 gm), it’s consumption during winters will not be as beneficial for our body. This is because it helps to reduce our body heat whereas in winters we want to trap the body heat to maintain our body temperature.
  2. Going local and consuming foods that are native to our region. Let’s make the best of what is available locally. Our humble jamun available during summers, is very high in Vitamin C content and works as an immunity booster. But, the trend is growing towards consumption of imported, dried cranberries which also give the same nutrition, but at a much higher cost. What we forget is that since jamun is a native fruit, our body is inherently adapted to digesting it better and getting the maximum benefit from it.
  3. Adopting unprocessed foods from all major food categories. As far as possible, we should banish processed and packaged foods from our shopping basket. For example, readymade breakfast cereals like wheat flakes have added preservatives, hidden sugars and are processed (extrusion method) such that when compared to the old, whole grain wheat dalia, they have far lower nutritional value.
  4. Focusing on getting our five portions of fruits and vegetables in a day. Eating a variety of foods ensures we get a wide variety of the nutrients our body needs. Fruits and vegetables have differed colours to indicate a different set of vitamins and minerals. So, include as many colours as you can in a day for a super-diet.
  5. Adjusting our diet based on our needs, ability to digest and medical conditions. For example, soya and its products are a blessing for adding proteins to a vegetarian diet, but if consumed by people with thyroid problem, it can interfere with proper absorption of medicine by the body.

Remember, there are no miracle foods and consuming a certain food is not going to undo the damage caused by unmindful eating. Any food when eaten at the right time and in the right combination shall keep us in good health. A balanced super diet far outweighs any super food in terms of the wholesome nutrition it provides our body. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Sir, I would like to know Apple cider vinegar's benefits in reducing body weight, who can use it.

Sir, I would like to know Apple cider vinegar's benefits in reducing body weight, who can use it.
Any thing other than food should be used with caution and should not be used for long term. Apple cider or any other supplement does show some benefits in some individuals. You can use them for a short term and see if it suits you. The basic fundamentals of health are still the same and simple: Eating the right food (balanced diet according to your calorie need) and exercising daily and taking sufficient rest (6-8 hrs sleep ). Go for an annual health checkup and start working on these fundamental health aspects.

Know what type of diet IT workers should follow to stay fit

I am dietician Sheela Suhag Sherawat, Mentor Diet Clinic. We are in this field since 11 years. And have been consulting different people with the different medical issues with the different requirement different needs. Sirf hamare paas log sirf therapeutic consultation ke liye Nahi atay. It’s all about your proper all over nutrition and healthy diets.

To is me jaise for example mai aap ko batao gi jesay IT workers. It workers jab hamare paas apni problem leke aate hain. They are saying k they have very hectic schedule and irregular shifts and very eating wrong habits. Basically hame unko unki schedule k mutabiq we have to modify proper healthy diets. Tou usme humko consult kehte hain kya aapko apnay daily routine mein kya cheezain include kar sakte ho. Jaise ki aap apni jo daily routine key dietary habits hain us me thoda change kar sakte ho ya Jo apka lifestyle hai us me modiy kar saktay ho. Jaise first of all log jo ke IT workers hote hain unka main issue hota hai k. They are tend to eat in canteen. Canteen k liye sab se pehlay hum boltay hain k ap canteen se khanay ki bajaye apnay daily routine me habit dalo aik tiffin carry kar k le k jao. So that at least jo aik meal ap log jo lo gay wo apka healthy hoga. Second thing agar aap ke office me stairs hain to prefer karo k ap lift ki bajaye stairs ko use karo.

Third thing ki jaisay k issue hota hai k chalo aik normal human being even k humari bhi adat hti ha k hum kam kartay hain aur sath me khatay hain tou sab se pelkay humain es habit ko no bolna hoga because humain pta he nhe chalta while working k hum kitna kha rahay han aur kia kha rahay hain. To better hai k jo apka tiffin ya jo bhi ap aik meal le rahay ho proper table pe beth k plus usko proper time k sath apna gradually jo apki digestion hai usko nhi body me time dena chahiye because jitna ap fast khao gy utna apka indigestion create hoga. To better hai while working avoid eating. It workers ki sabse main problem hoti hai they tend to eat more junks.

Then basically me unko ye suggest karungi junk khao per uski time routine banao. Keep your junk at the weekend. Or you can say keep your junk and sweets for the weekend. Weekday par follow your healthy diet And weekends par you have whatever you want to eat. So that aap ki body bhi healthy Rahay gi Aur aap bhi healthy raho gy. And aik aur important point kay Keep hydrated yourself Kyunki aap kitne time pe Jitna frequently Ap pani piyoge Itni he working capacity aapki increase karegi. Aur plus you feel more energetic. Tou kam se kam I will say after every one hour take a break of one or two minutes you can say five minutes and have a glass of water. Wo aap ko fresh karay ga and you feel more comfortable and you feel more energetic and apka jo concentration ha ap k work level pe o zyada increase ho ga.

To yeh thae kuch aapke tips for IT workers.

Hi. As I see it, the core problem with following such hyped program as you mentioned, is that you tend to think that just 25-30 mins workout will solve all your problems in one go. Also when you follow such over. Rated programs your diet becomes too calorie rich in the hope that shaun. Workout will take care of all issues. 1. Any hiit workout is good. 2. Variety creates more challenge for body. 3.30 mins is not sufficient for weight loss despite all those promises. 4. In your case you need to do 60+30 - total 90 mins a day. 5.25, mins workout can at max burn about 300 cals which is about a tea+ samosa worth cals. 6. Start jogging apart from workouts. 7. Monitor your calories with myfitnesspal app. 8" there is no failure, there is only feedback" 9. Look for different solutions if one is not working. 10. Never give up.
