Hey My ques is that if a person smoke more then there is anything get damage in his or her body?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Smoking even a single cigarette is extremely harmful. Cigarette smoke has more than 4000 chemicals and most of them are dangerous. Your skin, heart, eyes, liver, lungs, esophagus, etc. Are the many organs to name just a few that will get seriously affected. Please do not believe anyone who says anything different. It is a lie to justify smoking and the harm is real and very bad.

Genetics do play a role in psychiatric illness. Your wife cannot suffer and children may maynot get the character transmitted. Anxiety can be well controlled with meditation and yoga and some simples drugs.

I have a problem over my personal life and I cant able to concentrate on anything. Cant able to come out of it.
Decreased concentration can be a symptom of depression or anxiety. Distractions like mobile phones, computers can also cause decreased concentration. Eat well, sleep on time, maintain a regular day structure, meditation, breathing exercises, focus on the task, all these will improve concentration.

Since my childhood, I've face anxiety issues, from the time when I didn't even know that something of this sort exists. Even after indulging myself into stress relieving activities, consuming fresh and healthy food, and all possible stuff, I still get these attacks every now and then and they've probably gotten even stronger now. Is it normal, or could this be some mental illness?

I would suggest you to under go psychotherapy from clinical psychologist. It will help you to understand the core cause of your anxiety. Clinical psychologist can help you to learn better coping strategies so that you can manage your anxiety well. Atleast go and meet a clinical psychologist and share your concern.

Dear sir, my wife, Aging 35, has psychosis problem. Please let me know if this problem is curable and how much time is taken.

Dear sir, my wife, Aging 35, has psychosis problem. Please let me know if this problem is curable and how much time i...
Hello Psychosis can occur in a wide range of conditions. First of all the concept of CURE is over rated. If you have ever had common cold, or a fever, and taken medicine for it, you are able to over come the episode and get better. But your are NOT CURED. Cure means to never have the same Problem again. You may even have the common cold again. Like wise psychosis can be treated. Cure is a wrong word. Certain causes of psychosis can be treated very easily (medical causes) while others take a little while. Ideally medication and therapy should be combined together for best result. Good luck.

I feel now that I have been fighting with loneliness frustration not able to feel happy always trying to make others happy especially my parents since childhood. Now I am very disturbed n don't know how to come out of this there are many things which needs time. I have been in boarding since I was in grade 2 now my parents all the communication we have is of finding faults in me. Or teaching me. In front of my two little kids n husband. Which at times become very frustrating. Now I am very depressed n become quite don't feel like talking to anyone. Or get very rude in my behavior I don't even remember when I had laughed. All bad thoughts r coming n at a time see images. Cannot sleep. Not now n than feel like crying. All these r effecting me. N somewhat my kids. Please suggest me how to get rid off of such life.

I feel now that I have been fighting with loneliness frustration not able to feel happy always trying to make others ...
I am a little confused with yoru profile details where it says that you are a male and of 67 years old! May be there was a mistake. Anyway, it appears that your parents have wanted you away from childhood to send you to a boarding school so early in life. I hope I am wrong and that there were justifiable reasons for thier action. This would have left you feeling unwanted and unloved and that now when you do meet with them periodically, they are very critical of you. You do display classic symptoms of rejection. I suggest that you make home visits with your parents as scarce as possible. You don't want to go to a place where you are not that much wanted, would you? You must take care of yourself and I recommend that you seek some professional help if need be. You must also keep fit physically by exercise and sound sleep, learn some skills about handling your emotions, and get as much love as you can from yoru husband and children. You must learn to accept yourself and to truly love yourself by being kind and good to yourself.

5 Ayurvedic Remedies for Managing Stress!

Stress is a mental condition that can be triggered by various factors like personal problems and diseases. Ayurvedic unlike many conventional treatments, has natural treatments and as such is free from side effects. There are multiple treatments in Ayurveda that can be used to treat stress, they are:

  1. Exercise: Exercising helps in releasing endorphins (feel good hormones) in the body. Exercises like running and swimming can help in treating stress as well as aid in burning calories and keep your weight levels in check. Exercise also helps in boosting your alertness and concentration and thus boosting your overall mental health.
  2. Diet: Include plenty of vegetables and fruits in your diet to increase your intake of vitamins and antioxidants. Avoid eating non vegetarian foods as they can lead to accumulation of toxins in the body and cause problems. Include foods like nuts and dark chocolate as they are known as mood boosters. These foods also promote feelings of satiety.
  3. Practice relaxation techniques: You can practice relaxation techniques like meditation, which helps in calming the mind. Basic meditative techniques like focusing on your breath and practicing mindfulness are very beneficial. They also help you in de-stressing and improving your focus.
  4. Herbs: You may also include herbs like brahmi that has properties which can reduce stress levels in your body. It can also help in controlling anxiety and stress. It also provides the body with antioxidants that are good for the body as they help in controlling the free radical damage. Ashwagandha is yet another herb that helps in limiting levels of stress and fatigue in the body. It also improves the immune function in the body which means that you will be less prone to diseases.
  5. Massage therapy: You may opt for massage therapy to reduce stress levels in the body. Use a concoction of various medicated oils to massage your head and body. Massage therapy can improve blood circulation in the body and lead to lower levels of stress. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychiatrist.

I am 20. I am turning into a very rude person. I talk very rude 2 my own best friends, get irritated very soon. I never want someone to do a favor to me. I fight very often nowadays to people around me. What's all this happening to me, I am not able to understand I used to be a very quiet and understanding. Do I need to go to a psychiatrist? How should I manage my anger? Please suggest something.

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY, Masters in clinical psychology

Hi Librate user Anger is a normal emotion, but it is important to deal with it in a positive way. When you start feeling angry, take deep breath and talk to yourself "Relax" or "Take it easy" Repeat it to yourself while breathing deeply. Going for a brisk walk is a healthy management of your anger. Try to understand and remind yourself that anger won't solve any problem. Regular exercise is a way to improve your mood and release tension and anger. Thanks.
