There are a lot of things that will be going on with you at this age. This is the last time to resolve them too. It could also mean that some serious issue may be surfacing looking for treatment. So visit a counselor and discuss these matters. For concentration to improve do some of the following: I suspect that the adolescent issues with regard to hormones may be affecting your ability to concentrate and remember. When the hormones play up, it lasts for a period of close to two years and during that time you could be influenced by three signs directly impacted by the chemical: you will tend to become aggressive and rebellious, you will become sexually active, and you will have acne and pimple problems. The hormonal imbalances may not only impact your memory because of the chemical but also bring some distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food. You may also include these noted foods that are good for your brain health: Brain-Friendly Foods MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. But the MIND approach “specifically includes foods and nutrients that medical literature and data show to be good for the brain, such as berries,” says Martha Clare Morris, ScD, director of nutrition and nutritional epidemiology at Rush University Medical Center. You eat things from these 10 food groups: •Green leafy vegetables (like spinach and salad greens): At least six servings a week •Other vegetables: At least one a day •Nuts: Five servings a week •Berries: Two or more servings a week •Beans: At least three servings a week •Whole grains: Three or more servings a day •Fish: Once a week •Poultry (like chicken or turkey): Two times a week •Olive oil: Use it as your main cooking oil. •Wine: One glass a day You avoid: •Red meat: Less than four servings a week •Butter and margarine: Less than a tablespoon daily •Cheese: Less than one serving a week •Pastries and sweets: Less than five servings a week •Fried or fast food: Less than one serving a week.

Hi I am 32 yrs old. Male.I am suffering from migraine only one side of d head. With heavy neck pain. Please suggest me the best treatment.

Migrane can be managed with lifestyle changes and medications, try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation may help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. Rest and relax. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. It is very important keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective. A dose of riboflavin in appropriate dose as prescribed by me, also may prevent migraines or reduce the frequency of headaches. Coenzyme q10 supplements may decrease the frequency of migraines, magnesium supplements may also be used to treat migraines do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

As your urethra shows a blockage and uroflowmetry shows slow evacuation of bladder you need dilatation of urethra by catheters or if strictures are detected, by resection. Continuation without treatment will affect kidneys due to backflow pressure and may also cause total obstruction.

Some doctors say 4 days is enough to regain sperm count and some say it take 2 to 3 months. Which one is correct?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Some doctors say 4 days is enough to regain sperm count and some say it take 2 to 3 months. Which one is correct?
Both are not. Sperm is produced every minute in the body There is probably no way to increase semen volume by popping pills. In addition, most men cannot measure their actual semen volume as well. Some physicians suggest that adequate intake of water and fluids may maximize the semen volume but this “increase” will also be within normal limits.Semen is released during ejaculation and the normal semen volume ranges from 2 to 5ml per ejaculate. People have been selling products that are supposed to increase semen volume. This is a myth. On abstaining for a long time the sperm counts within the semen may increase but the semen volume actually does not vary much from before.

I am frequently suffering with headache may I know the reason behind the problem.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I am frequently suffering with headache may I know the reason behind the problem.
Headaches are generally classified by cause: Primary headaches A primary headache is caused by problems with or overactivity of pain-sensitive structures in your head. A primary headache isn't a symptom of an underlying disease. Chemical activity in your brain, the nerves or blood vessels of your head outside your skull, or muscles of your head and neck — or some combination of these factors — may play a role in primary headaches. Some people may carry genes that make them more likely to develop such headaches. The most common primary headaches are: Cluster headache Migraine (with and without aura) Tension headache (medically known as tension-type headache) Trigeminal autonomic cephalalgia (TAC), including cluster headache and paroxysmal hemicrania There are other headache patterns that are generally considered types of primary headache but are less common. These headaches have distinct features, such as an unusual duration or pain associated with a certain activity. Although these headaches are generally considered primary, each of them could be a symptom of an underlying disease. These headaches include: Chronic daily headaches Cough headaches Exercise headaches Sex headaches Some primary headaches can be triggered by lifestyle factors, including: Alcohol, particularly red wine Certain foods, such as processed meats that contain nitrates Changes in sleep or lack of sleep Poor posture Skipped meals Stress Secondary headaches A secondary headache is a symptom of a disease that can activate the pain-sensitive nerves of the head. Any number of conditions — varying greatly in severity — may cause secondary headaches. Sources of secondary headaches include: Acute sinusitis Arterial tears (carotid or vertebral dissections) Blood clot (venous thrombosis) within the brain — separate from stroke Brain aneurysm (a bulge in an artery in your brain) Brain AVM (an abnormal formation of brain blood vessels) (both cancerous and noncancerous) Carbon monoxide poisoning Chiari malformation (structural problem at the base of your skull) Concussion Congenital heart disease in adults Dental problems Ear infection (middle ear) Encephalitis (brain inflammation) Giant cell arteritis (inflammation of the lining of the arteries) Glaucoma Hangovers Influenza (flu) Intracranial hematoma (blood vessel ruptures in the brain) Medications to treat other disorders Meningitis (inflammation of the membranes and fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord) Monosodium glutamate (MSG) Overuse of pain medication Panic attacks and panic disorder Post-concussion syndrome Pressure from tight-fitting headgear, such as a helmet or goggles Pseudotumor cerebri (increased pressure inside the skull) Toxoplasmosis Trigeminal neuralgia (disruption of the nerve connecting the face and brain)

You are not having sound sleep it seems. Do sleep in well ventilated room please check if you are having nasal polyp/snooring this is hindering lack of oxygen in your body and hence tiredness/dizziness in morning.
