I am 55 years, using Metsmall Tablet from the last one year. My blood sugar is not controlling.
For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Medicine and insulin will work better if you follow diet and exercise. Medicine will depend on your blood reports.

Hi doctors. My mom is suffering from thyroid since long days. I can't see her like this. Is there any permanent treatment for this? If yes, than how it's possible and where should we go?

For hypothyroidism only treatment is to take adequate dose of thyroxine for lifetime. There is no option other than this. If treatment is helping then tsh levels should be around 3 to 4 milli units/ml, that usually helps in controlling all the symptoms and the person lives absolutely normal life.

In last year my thyroid level has increased upto 10 points I want to control my thyroid level by natural ways, please help.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Meerji, If your TSH level has above 10milli unit/ ml then you have to start the treatment with thyroxine tablets, there is "no natural way" to control raised TSH level. If you do not want to start treatment with thyroxine, then you will suffer with consequences of hypothyroidism. I leave it to your judgement.

I am 26 year old female and I have high uric acid and cholestrol (hdl). What should I do?

I am 26 year old female and I have high uric acid and cholestrol (hdl). What should I do?
Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. GARLIC,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . Cap. Ecosprin gold-10 at night daily. for uric acid take tab. zyloric 100 mg once a day.

Thank you for the query. From your question I gather that you are already on glycomet trio (2 mg/500 mg/0.3 mg) thrice a day. This implies that you are on quite a high dose of oral anti diabetic agents. However, your sugar levels tend to remain high. I would like to enquire about your hbaic as that will give a better picture about your control. At this stage I would advice you to modify your diet (1400-1500 kcal) per day and opt for a exercise regimen (30 min per day for 5 days a week). Please get your eyes and renal functions checked. I would also advise you to monitor your blood sugar levels at home with a glucometer if possible.

CURE INFERTILITY WITH THE HELP OF AYURVEDA

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Delhi
When a couple is not able to conceive after a year of regular sex on their fertile days (without contraceptives), they are said to be infertile for some reason. Infertility can be cured although some of the problems are difficult to treat especially when the mother is over the age of 35 years. Stressed modern life and an increased use of chemicals and pesticides in our food is a huge cause of infertility in both men and women.

There are several herbal treatments available to help infertile couples and one such treatment is known as Ayurveda.

Ayurveda highlights the importance of a healthy body of the woman even before conception. Dried asparagus is used in the preparation of Ayurveda and it contains proteins, carbohydrates, natural steroids, and polysaccaroids. Infertile couples can use its tonic that revitalizes their reproductive system. This herb has proven extremely useful in the treatment of male side fertility problems i.e. premature ejaculation, impotence, lower sperm count, or less motile sperms. Visiting a reputable infertility clinic (link to sablok clinic goes here) will help you a lot.

Ayurveda is highly effective for female fertility problems and its regular use prepares a woman’s body for conception. Reproductive strength of the couple actually depends on the fitness of reproductive tissues in both man and woman. The woman releases her ovum as a result of her menstrual cycle while a man releases his semen (containing sperms) when his reproductive system receives stimulation from the environment. The reproductive cycle needs energy that the body gets from the digestion of food intake. As a result, when a person eats healthy food, he is likely to acquire a stronger body and powerful reproductive sperms, hence resulting in the production of healthy babies.

Ayurveda fertility treatment assumes the fertility to be the result of the transformation of sperm and egg and if there is any hindrance in the way, the process doesn’t occur. This process will not initiate unless it is rejuvenated by ensuring the health and strength of both egg and sperm. Ayurveda experts suggest that there are certain foods that strengthen the reproductive system better than others. These foods include milk, pomegranate, almonds, pumpkin, honey, and sesame seeds. Ayurveda also suggests a detoxification program that involves simple eating and a regular oil massage. The treatment emphasizes eating khichdi on daily basis as it considers it to be the best healing food. Besides khichdi, the patient should take spice tea to clear toxins in his or her body. Daily massage of sesame oil also helps in conception as it dilates the skin of the patient.

Ayurveda treatment specialists also recommend that the environment and preparation of making love and having sex is also important. It is necessary to set a background that contains an aromatic and romantic ambiance over a soothing and relaxing couch or bed. This union is very important in that two forces are going to merge together to produce a new life. Peace of mind is necessary to achieve success in the process. General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Health Tip on Diabetes ;

If you are suffering from Type-2 diabetes, having a breakfast rich in protein ? 25 to 30 grams ? can reduce glucose spikes at both breakfast and lunch, a new research has found.

Individuals with Type-2 diabetes generally have difficulty regulating their glucose, or blood sugar, levels, particularly after meals.

?The first meal of the day is critical in maintaining glycemic control at later meals, so it really primes people for the rest of the day,? said Jill Kanaley, professor at the University of Missouri.
The researchers monitored Type-2 diabetics? levels of glucose, insulin and several gut hormones ? which help regulate the insulin response ? after breakfast and lunch.
The participants ate either high-protein or high-carbohydrate breakfasts, and the lunch included a standard amount of protein and carbohydrates.

The researchers found eating more protein at breakfast lowered individuals? post-meal glucose levels.
Insulin levels were slightly elevated after the lunch meal, which demonstrated that individuals? bodies were working appropriately to regulate blood-sugar levels, Kanaley said.
The researchers cautioned that although it would be helpful for individuals with high blood sugar to eat more protein, they do not need to consume extreme amounts of protein to reap the benefits.

I suggest consuming 25 to 30 grams of protein at breakfast, which is within range.

I have a diabetes type 1 nd I am 28 year s old want to gain weight fed up wid my weight loss.
If you are definitely type 1, weight loss can indicate uncontrolled diabetes. Please correct your insulin doses. Insulin itself helps to put on weight. Also, diabetic protein supplements will help.

hello Anand, contrary to popular belief Diabetes is not always progressive disease. It may be reversed or progress can be stopped. it might have been difficult for you but it is very important to lose weight for you. many of the diabetic medicines unfortunately increases weight. But if you reduce weight by 30 kg, your diabetes will improve and you will need very less medicine. All the problems associated will also go down. there is a general approach and a specific approach as per individual patients metabolic profile. i will give you a general approach to try for 4 weeks. 1. do not eat anything sugary or sweet. 2. eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner 3. Eat only 3 times per day. 4. do atleast 30 min of exercise every day of any kind. you will need to continously monitor your fasting and post meal sugar and reduce dose as per advise of your treating doctor, once you start losing weight.
