How Ayurveda Helps Treat Infertility?

How Ayurveda Helps Treat Infertility?

Infertility has emerged as a common problem as a result of the modern day lifestyle. Extremely hectic schedules, stress, burnout, depression and unhealthy diets can contribute to fertility issues. As per a study published by Pharmion, around 30 million Indian couples were estimated to suffering from lifetime infertility, in 2015. Also, the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) fell to 2.3% in 2013 against 3.9% in 1990.
Couples often seek help with methods such as artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization (IVF), but the problem can be solved in natural ways too. Sometimes, the root cause of infertility is simply irregular functioning or blockages in the body systems. The basic principle of Ayurveda is to get the body functioning to its optimum capacity and this is often all that is needed to treat diseases.

Here are a few ways in which Ayurvedic medicine can help treat infertility:

  1. Phal Ghrit: The medicine is made by combining a number of herbs and it is taken with warm milk. It has been developed especially to treat infertility by controlling the level of hormones secreted in the body. It cannot remedy structural problems, but it can effectively treat functional disorders in the reproductive system.
  2. Shatavari (Asparagus): This plant is used to treat female infertility by regulating the cycles of menstruation and ovulation.
  3. Triphala Churna: A combination of three different fruits - baheda, amla and haritaki, this medicine helps to cleanse the body of toxins, strengthens the immune system and clears blockages in the fallopian tubes.
  4. Ashwagandha Churna (Indian ginseng): The medicine is used to treat male infertility by naturally increasing the production of sperm in the system.

There are also a few Ayurvedic therapies which can help to cure infertility:

  1. Vamanam: In this treatment procedure, medicated oil is swallowed to induce vomiting, which expels all the contaminating elements in the body. This process can be done regularly depending upon the overall health of the patient and also helps to combat digestive and psychological conditions.
  2. Swedanam: This therapy is usually done before other Ayurvedic therapies to prepare the body systems. For patients of infertility, the patient is made to sweat excessively. This also flushes most nitrous compounds out of the body.
  3. Dhatu Nirman Karma: The cells of the body are made to metabolize, absorb and assimilate nutrients leading to the formation of healthy cells and destruction of the unhealthy ones. This is turn rejuvenates the organs. Usually, this is helpful for female infertility.
  4. Virechana: This procedure involves several days of internal oleation by taking either pure ghee or a specially prepared medicated ghee followed by a gentle herbal purgative. Purgation acts on aggravated and accumulated pitta and kapha doshas. It decreases the heat (ushna guna) of pitta and increases coolness (sheeta guna) required for formation of shukra dhatu (ovum and sperm). Impaired agni due to disturbed pitta is also rectified by the virechana procedure. A strong and balanced dhatvagni (tissue agni) is required for dhatnirmiti of shukradhatu (creation of reproductive tissue). Obstructing kapha dosha is removed through virechana and the blocked apana vata obstructed by kapha dosha is also relieved by virechana. Common virechana dravyas: mahatiktaghrit, trivrit (leha or churna). If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

I am diabetic male. Bl. Sug f 115 n pp 178 and I dont have any symptoms of diabetes.
The sugar levels mentioned show that it is impaired glucose tolerance (igt), is a prediabetic state. When fasting crosses above 126 mg and pp above 200 mg then it is diagnosed as diabetes. If you take certain precautions like - exercise daily for more than 1 h, maintain weight near normal, avoid deep fried foods, sweets and also smoking and alcohol. There is every possibility of remaining free from diabetes.

Mr. Lybrate-user, a person with prediabetes, has to adapt a modified life style. Which means he should take a properly planned balanced diet, avoid too much of sweets, do not indulge in sweetened aerated drinks, junk foods, pastires and deep fried foods. Also avoid fructose corn syrup containing products, highly processed foods. Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Use whole grain products. Total caloric intake has to be meeting the exact demand based on ideal body weight. Plus exercise daily for at least 1 hour. It is difficult to predict whether diabetes will occur or not and what is the percentage.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. If hypothyroidism is treated with correct dose of levothyroxine, then TSh should be around 3 to 4 mU/L, then all the symptoms are in complete control. So please tell me what is the current TSH level. If that is high, then all the symptoms mentioned can be present. So please give that value, then I will be able to guide. Also better to test your Hb %, because if that is low, then also there can be tiredness. Thanks.

High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain.garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines . you should be avoid bad habits . Avoid stress. Some Relax during work. Drink more water, high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Hi sir I am 39 year's old and I have diabetes erection problem how can I get that I am non smoker non alcoholic.
Mr. lybrate-user, Diabetes affects small blood and large vessels, even when well controlled. If persistent hyperglycemia is present then the damage is faster and more severe. Due this the penile tissue responsible for stiffening is affected leading to ED. This is one of the most common complications of diabetes. So the primary need is to achieve very strict blood glucose control like FBS closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. But the damage already occurred may not be corrected. Thanks.

Dear sir, it is evident that complications of diabetes has set in. Diabetes causes blood vessel injury, thereby affecting the small blood vessels of end organs like eyes, heart muscles, kidney tissue, etc causing their function to reduce. Hence, controlling this damage is essential. It is believed that high sugar levels are responsible for this. But going by the fact that even controlled diabetics end up in complications, throws light that sugar levels are not alone the reason for this. Homeopathic treatment looks at the problem in a different angle and aims to arrest the pathology behind diabetic changes itself, thus preventing complications and if possible reversal of disease. Give it a thought. Visit a nearby homeopathic physician for thorough consultation.

The best way to get a flat stomach is to try high intensity cardio. This is because it burns a larger number of calories than low intensity cardio. Playing sports such as football, basketball, cricket, tennis and other sports is also helpful in promoting weight loss. You should perform cardio exercises each day for 60 minutes. Brisk walking is considered an effective cardio workout for those who suffer from joint problems, as it does not place much stress on the joints, compared to other cardio exercises such as running or cycling.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Following are the criteria for diagnosing diabetes: 1) Normal: FBG: 70 to 110 mg, PP<140 mg & HbA1c%<5.9. 2) Pre-Diabetes: FBG: 108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c%5.9 to 6.4. 3) Diabetes: FBG 126 mg and above, PP: 200 mg and above & HbA1c% 6.5 and above. Please look at your PP blood glucose also. If a peson is in pre-diabetes state there is no need for any medication. Strict diet control and exercise will help in postponing or preventing diabetes.
