My mother is suffering from arthritis. She suffers from acute pain in joints. The problem is persistent since last 1 year. She is on medication. Can you please tell some exercises which would help reduce the pain?

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

This is quite a common condition Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency. Sleep on a hard bed. Use no pillow under the head. Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

My finger got hit by a hammer a year before. The pain is gone but the swelling is still there on the top of middle joint of finger. I keeps massaging it but its not going away.

Hi, I get pain in my knees whenever I sit folding the knees, same case is with my fingers. I am 30 yrs old height- 5.1" and weight is - 47 kg. Is it arthritis and how can I get rid of this problem. There are frequent changes also in my mood. Unwanted thoughts come in mind. I am unable to concentrate on anything. What can be the possible solution ( in ayurved, home or meditation) for all these problems

To determine whether it is arthritis you will need to do several tests, apart from the physical examination. Treatment wise you must try Yoga to relieve the pain within a few weeks; and Ayurvedic medicine, if it has been established that you have arthritis to see, if it works. If not, you will need to go for allopathic medicines only for relief. The mental stress you mention may be caused by other factors that are disturbing your mind. Please talk to a counselor to identify those issues and as you deal with them you will feel better. For concentration and containing your thoughts, I have a few exercises which will certainly help. But talking will be of tremendous help. Meditation is very good to train the brain, and discipline your thoughts.

I am suffering from neck and upper back pain since an year. I am also suffering from right hip pain and pain in both lower legs. Pain from knees to feet in my both legs. It hurts in my calf muscle regions while walking. I consulted neurologist one year ago. He suggested for MRI. The report says that" no significant abnormality detected" But screening of cervical spine shows that" minimal posterior disc protrusion noted at c5-6 with mild anterior thecal sac indentation" It also shows that "schmorl's nodes noted in few lower dorsal vertebra" He prescribed medicines and I'm having them. But the result is not up to the mark. Respected Doctor "Please tell me is my disc protrusion problem responsible for my right hip and both lower legs pain? And also do tell me how to overcome this neck, upper back, right hip and both lower leg pain. My blood respond x- ray of right hip both lower leg s are normal. My height is 5-10. Weight is 75. 1) neck pain & upper back pain is due to disc problem at c5-6. & has no connection with hip & leg pain. 2) hip & legpain might be due to muscular strain or spasm. 3) i'll suggest you to do mri of hip joint in that case. Raktamokshan is best for calf muscle pain. 1) do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) start natural calcium supplement. 3) do regular stretching exercise 4) in yoga do bhujangasan, halasan & suryanamaskar. Life-style correction 1) correct your sitting posture. 2) take small pillow or back rest for lower back. 3) foot should rest to floor easily. 4) take small break after 1 hr & walk few steps. 5) do neck & upper back extension, you can consult privately.

I'm 29 year old. I have a constant pain and soreness in my left testicle from last 7-8 months. It looks somewhat linked with my back pain of slightly bulged disc. What could be the possible cause & Which kind of doctor should I see ? Neurologist, urologist or some other.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

My mother is suffering from arthirtis for last 7 years. Some doctors have recommended for total knee replacement. Somce have said it should be cured through medicine. Also is it recommeded to do both legs knee replacement together or one at a time.

Knee replacement is a very good option for severe arthritis. No osteo-arthritis is cured with medicines. It can only give temporary relief. Gradually the knee keeps getting worse. Remember that it' s a part of aging. I usually don't do both knee replacements in a single operation. The primary reason is that it takes long time and puts the patient at more risk. Most surgeons nowadays give a gap of 5-7 days between the two operations. The final decision is made by the treating surgeon. I met with an accident 1 year ago and fractured my right arm but after complete rest and proper care it still hurts me whenever lifting heavy weight. What should I do?

Normally you should be able to return to weightlifting about three to four months after your injury. Once your fracture heals, the joints are typically stiff and the surrounding muscles are weak because they haven't been used during immobilized time. You will need to increase your range of motion and strengthen your hand muscles before returning to weight lifting. Please consult a physiotherapist to find out what's causing you pain and the right pain management solution.

I'm 27year old and have been diagnosed with HLA-B27 gene positive. My pain started since I was 17 in leg-hip joint region, over period it have migrated and now it's mainly on left shoulder where I can feel swelling in collar bone and shoulder cup. Recently I see swelling in Ribs joint on front side near thorax region. What should I do?
