Hello,
I am suffering from PCOD problem. When I get irregular periods, my left hand side stomach pains like hell and ...
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. Most women with PCOS grow many small cysts on their ovaries. That is why it is called polycystic ovary syndrome. The cysts are not harmful but lead to hormone imbalances. Early diagnosis and treatment can help control the symptoms and prevent long-term problems. The cause of PCOS is not fully understood, but genetics may be a factor. PCOS seems to run in families, so your chance of having it is higher if other women in your family have it or have irregular periods or diabetes. PCOS can be passed down from either your mother's or father's side. Symptoms tend to be mild at first. You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are: •Acne. •Weight gain and trouble losing weight. •Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back. •Thinning hair on the scalp. •Irregular periods. Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding. •Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant (infertility). •Depression. Abdominal sonography and blood tests of hormones should be done for diagnosis. Ayurvedic and Panchakarma treatment regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are the key treatments for PCOS. Treatment can reduce unpleasant symptoms and help prevent long-term health problems. Take 1) Kumari asav 20 ml after food with water 2) pushpadhanwa ras 500 mg twice day Feel free to consult privately for any queries or treatment guidelines. Thank you.

I am 18 years old & I am a student. But my penis is too small. Now what I can do?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
I am 18 years old & I am a student.
But my penis is too small. Now what I can do?
The human body undergoes a growth in adolescence and this continues till age of 21. As you are 18, there is till a chance to grow, but this growth is overall body growth. If you have well balanced diet rich in proteins and do regular exercises, you can make yourself more fit, attractive and also help your body grow to it's full potential you have not written about the size of your penis. If it measures anything more than 2 inches, in erect stage, then there is nothing to worry about the average size of penis depends on the genetic background of a person. So it is fixed and can not be grown as one wishes! it would be better to concentrate on what you can do with a panis than worry about it's size. If you masturbate, it's normal, at masturbation you can learn to control your ejaculation and this can help you relieve sexual urges and also learn to last longer in bed. The penis head is richly supplied with nerves and they carry pleasurable sensations of touch to brain which causes the brain to send more blood flow to the penis and cause an erection. Ejaculation time is dependent on your excitability and if you get extreme excitation, you ejaculate fast. So it is better to get" taught" about how to delay ejaculation by doing an exercise at masturbation. Every man know that during ejaculation there is a point when the ejaculation can not be stopped even if sex or masturbation is stopped. This is the point of ejaculatory inevitability. At masturbation, go to this point of ejaculatory inevitability, and just before that press the penis head at the neck, using two fingers. This pressure must be for 1 minute and also firm enough to cause some mild pain. If successful, the pressure when released will show that ejaculation has been stopped. Repeat this till you can maintain ejaculation for a good 15 -30 minutes, be repeating the process. If you can master this, it will improve your ejaculation time at masturbation and at sex.

The Spring Equinox - Why You Must Keep Yourself Hydrated?

The Spring Equinox - Why You Must Keep Yourself Hydrated?

Winters can often be gloomy, which is why the Spring Equinox comes as good news for those counting the days until warmer weather. It is the time when equator passes through the center of the sun and the days become longer.  The spring equinox does not only mark as the beginning of the spring, but has great influence over our health.

  • On an average, we need 8-10 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. This helps ensure proper blood circulation that takes nutrients to all the calls of the body, aids digestion, maintains proper functioning of the heart and brain and helps remove toxins from the body. Drinking water also helps improve metabolism and can, therefore, help you manage your weight. However, sometimes, you need to drink more water. The spring equinox is one such time of the year when the body needs more water.
  • The equinox refers to the passing of the earth’s equator plane through the centre of the sun. There are two equinoxes in a year; once in march and once in September. On an equinox, the length of the day and night is almost equal. The equinox in March is known as the Spring Equinox or Vernal Equinox and occurs typically around the March 20. This marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
  • For a few days before and after the equinox along with the day of the equinox, the sun is directly overhead and very strong. Thus, it is essential to drink a lot of water and stay indoors as far as possible. If you must go out during the day, carry an umbrella or wear a car. The strength of the sun’s rays can dehydrate the body very fast causing nausea, heat strokes and blackouts. In addition, the heat can also make you sweat excessively thereby increasing the amount of water expelled from your body. An easy way to check your body’s hydrated levels is to check your urine.  A pale yellow, straw-like colour indicates good hydration while a darker yellow means that your body is dehydrated.
  • While drinking water is important, drinking water the right way is equally important. Drinking a bottle of water at once may give you the impression that you have drunk enough water, but in reality, the body cannot absorb so much water at one time. Instead, you should space out your water intake and drink throughout the day. Juices, soft drinks, tea, coffee etc cannot be used as a substitute for water. The caffeine in tea and coffee can actually dehydrate your body further and hence should be avoided at this time. If plain water does not sound appealing to you, you could infuse it with herbs like basil or fruits and vegetables like strawberries, oranges, lemons and cucumbers to add flavour.

Washing your face often and showering twice a day can also help hydrate your skin and cool you down. Alternatively, you could fill a spray bottle with water and spritz yourself from time to time. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

Hello. My friend is suffering from pneumonia and she had cough last week and her health is getting weaker day by day what should her parents do to cure cough.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
She should take proper rest, adequate hydration and a balanced diet in small quantities increasing the number of meals in a day. Pneumonia gets cured by using proper antibiotics, but if the symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks then testing for tuberculosis is also recommended.

Omeprazole 20 mg capsules contains the active substance omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called ‘proton pump inhibitors’. They work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces.

Not necessary if you have learnt lessons to follow a healthy lifestyle. Genes from the side of your mother are half and genes play little role compared to wrong eating and sedentary lifestyle and smoke and alcohol and high uncontrolled bp and blood sugar with high cholesterol. Take care and don't live in fear of a heart attack. Keep basics mentioned above in control and do go for annual check ups.
