I am observing fast because of the ramdan. I am having reflux (Gerd) burning in throat. Pl z suggest some medicine.
Hello- acid reflux during fasting might be due to latent hyper acidity. >try these tips- 1) take harad powder at bed time. 2) apply coconut oil around your umbilicus twice daily. 3) drink cold sweet milk when you break your fast at night time. 4) figs and black raisins decrease acidity so you can take them in your meals.

Hi If you have never experienced  this problem, then you need to start  *an antibiotic  immediately.  *A decongestant  medicine *Avoid water entry in the ear. *Avoid shampooing for atleast 10 days till the ear discharge dries up. *Get a Pure tone audiometry and tympanometry done. These tests can detect ear drum perforation. Otoendoscopy  may also be done Ear discharge may occur due to acute or chronic otitis media. Your symptoms  appear to be of Acute otitis media. In this case ear discharge occurs after a small perforation  in the ear drum due to pus buildup.  But if you have had the problem previously  too it may be due to Chronic otitis media. In that case you have to also start an ear drop and may need surgery.

I want to do rhinoplasty surgery procedure. My nose looks horrible. Its kinda discouraging. Help me out.

Advanced Aesthetics, M.Ch - Plastic Surgery, MS - General Surgery, MBBS

Nose correction or rhinoplasty is one of the most frequently performed surgeries and we are the pioneers in central india since last 30 years. We have to assess the nose from inside and outside to know its conditions. Surgery is the only answer. The surgery is almost painless because there are enough medications to keep the pain under control.

She is having fainting episodes due to a phenomenon called syncope in which there is a sudden fall of bp. Even tooth pain itself can cause this. It could also happen if she is allergic to the medicine. Stop the medicine. Get her checked for anemia. Get treatment from a dentist. She should be fine.

I have a snoring problem. It happens the moment I go in deep sleep. The mouth remains closed but breathing is so loud that it makes snoring sound, sometimes very loud. Is there any medication with this can be cured? I google on internet and found being fat as one of the cause, I'm 73 kgs and working on reducing the weight.

MD - Pulmonary Medicine, DAA (Allergy)
Pulmonologist, Mangalore
Hi Lybrate user, Being obese and having short neck are risk factors for snoring. Snoring happens because of blockage of upper airway. In fat people the upper airway is already narrow and it worsens during sleep. No tablets are available to reduce anoring. Weight reduction is important means of correcting snoring. There are some tongue exercises that can be tried.

Dust allergy is partly genetic and partly environmental. Thus it never goes away. With better, less dusty environment  the extent if the problem gets reduced. Medicines help to downregulate the immune response of your body to these environmental allergens. Long term lifestyle  changes with gradually tapering medication  helps to tackle chronic sinus problems.  Start taking Steam inhalation twice a day. *For chronic allergic rhinosinusitis you will need to take a long term course of antibiotics  together  with Nasal sprays. *You will need to avoid dusty environment  and dust mites, animal dander etc. Regular cleaning of AC air filters. Wearing mask while driving 2 wheelers/working in dusty  areas Medical  management  is done for 3 months and then patients  condition is reviewed.  Intermittent treatment is not beneficial  in the long run. Around 30 %of people with allergic rhinitis  will develop Asthma if not treated. But majority of patients with asthma are allergic to dust. Active treatment  of nasal allergy reduces Asthma attacks and medicine requirements. This improve  quality of life. Hope this helps Take care.
