Exercise regularly including stretching, yoga and exercises by lying on back. Do not sit at one place for longer time, avoid bending and lifting heavy weight. Apply orthomove oil or orthomove ointment over back twice daily. If didn't re-leaved, you may need internal medication.

Hi my mother is 50+ she has left shoulder pain covering her upper part of the left arm and left side of the neck including left side back as well. She is suffering from this severe pain since last 8 months. We visited a doctor and he gave a steroid injection as well. But her pain and swelling are getting severe causing immense pain. She is diabetic and a blood pressure patient as well. Please advice.

Try this first. Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Consult after 5 days. Do not do from top to bottom. Wish you cure without medicine.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. If there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touching, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can be taken in small doses for 5-7 days - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. If your condition does not improve, then we will have to get certain investigations done. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Hi doctor. I have a stiff neck for the last 2 days. What can I do to get it right? Its troubling a liy, have taken pain killers.

If the stiff neck is spontaneous, then there is a good chance that it will go off by itself after few days if the stiff neck is resultant of trauma, you need to have proper evaluation I would advice you to 1. Avoid driving 2 wheelers 2. Avoid using pillows 3. Avoid bending neck down for long periods of time for one week in all probability, you will find stiff neck gone if the problem still persists, please get back to us.

Firstly maintain your posture sit straight, avoid toward bending avoid long sitting, standing and lifting heavyweight do rest and tk heat fermentation twice a day. Tk muscle relaxant medicine. And do stretching exercise of spine. If it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment.

Knee joint is very complex joint made by 3 bones - femur, tibia, fibula and knee cap - patella. Several ligaments, cartilage and menisci are covered all around. So pain in knee joint may be due to several reasons. In your case the pain may be due to some internal injury like cartilage etc for which you are not aware or there may be knee arthritis as it is very common these days or may be due to deficiency of vitamins or uric acid. So in general I would advise you to please go for proper investigation so that the reason can be diagnosed. In the mean time to get relief from pain and stiffness please follow the physio measures: precautions- 1. Avoid prolong standing. Standing on one leg or running for time being if its painful. 2. Take care while bending your knees, it should not directly strain your joint. 3. Avoid heavy weight lifting. 4. Wear shoes with good arch support, do not wear high -healed shoes. 5. Use the correct positions during activities so that you do not strain your muscles. 6. Try to change your sitting position every 15 min so that it should not give strain on your knees. 7. Avoid sitting on floor with both knees bending. 8. Take diet rich in calcium like milk, dairy products, banana etc which will enhance your calcium and gives you strength. Treatment - 1. Use of cold or hot packs which ever suits you - apply ice or hot pack to the painful area and massage for near about 10 minutes. Make a habit for doing atleast twice a day initially. 2. After this using your thumb massage your knee area gently. Exercises include: 1. Quads isometrics. 2. Hamstrings isometrics. 3. Slr - straight leg raising 4. Bridging do not do single leg bridging if pain is very severe. 5. Knee bending lying or supine position. 6. Heel raising 7. Step ups 8. Lunge 9. Squatting you can do the above treatment plan it will give you pain relief. But if you face severe pain while doing the exercises then stop doing and apply some talcum over knee, with thumb massage your knee area slightly and gently. Get well soon. Good luck.

Hello- Yes it can be arthritis. Morning stiffness generally occurs due to improper digestion and taking heavy meals. Indigestion in long run can cause Rheumatoid arthritis.

Avoid squatting and cross leg. Regular walking and weight control is a goal. Recently glucosamine found to have no role in such condition.

At this stage even pain killers r going to make much difference. Along with your medicines start physiotherapy and exercises by today only as it is the key thing that will help you to match by day to day activities. Exercises should include strengthening of all the muscles of lower limbs, specifically quadriceps and hamstring muscles i. E. Front and back muscles of thighs, stretching of your calf and hams, ankle toe movts many more. Tc. And if possible please attach your knee x-rays. For further querry feel free to consult.

Hi, My friend has a high fever along with joint pain and headache and severe stomach pain from the last 1 and a half week, all the tests have been done including dengue malaria chickengunia typhoid jaundice and even the ultrasounds and x Ray's show nothing. Doctors are not able to diagnose the cause of such high fever. What could be the reason? It's really urgent.

I am 27 year old Indian national currently living in Muscat, Oman. I am working here since past 2 years and since November 2013 I started experiencing a little pain in joints of like toes, feet and above the ankles of my legs which gradually increased and by the end of December I got the same pain in my hands as well; like fingers, knuckles, wrists elbows etc. Initially I dint cared about it but now its taking its toll on my work. In Nov 2013 I visited Doc's here in Muscat, they gave some calcium and multi vitamins but those didn't help. Then I met an orthopedic here in Muscat he gave some steroids and pain killers but that too dint help and since May 2014 the pain had increased a lot. In October 2014, I decided to visit India in regards with my health condition. There was a scare of Arthritis and I did few blood and urine tests prescribed by the Doctor however the reports were normal and during my stay in India I started experiencing back pain and lower back pain. Now I got severe lower back pain extending up till my buttocks, neck pain and pain in shoulders. Basically I mean to say is I have pain all over my body. My Uric Acid level is normal My ESR is normal I took a Xray for my pelvic area. That too was normal. Please help. Please suggest.

No hypertension, no diabetes, no osteoporosis but having arthritis and thereby difficult for long distance walking. Also sometimes blood atraithis & getting mussels stiff. As per local Dr. She is having deficiency of vitamin D and E. Though after taking prescribed medicines the symptoms are not gone. Any suggestions please?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned pain in lower back region as your main problem. You are actually very young to have persistent pain. If there is only localized pain in back region with no other associated symptoms like radiating pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc in case you are having back pain. If there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate you further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I have a lower backache. I am Running outdoor, every 4 days per week. 5 minutes brisk walk following 5 min slow run. Next 5 minutes fast walk after that 7 to 8 minutes moderate and fast running then 5 min slow walk. Is this correct way or not?

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times.

Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homeopathic medicines are very helpful.
