Eat right. Ensuring that you're getting all the vitamins and minerals your body requires will help you grow to your full height. Take a supplement targeted at your age group with breakfast each morning, and try to incorporate certain foods into your diet. Here are some specific suggestions: ? Make sure to take in an abundance of carbohydrates and calories for that is where the body gains its energy to grow. ? Get plenty of calcium (found in dairy products and green vegetables). Calcium promotes bone growth, and can help prevent osteoporosis. ? Taking 500 mg of niacin has shown to significantly increase growth hormone levels only when taken on an empty stomach. ? Get sufficient vitamin D (which can be obtained through eating fish, alfalfa, or mushrooms, or spending enough time in the sun). Vitamin D promotes bone and muscle growth in children[, and a deficiency has been shown to stunt growth and cause weight gain in teenage girls. If you don't like fish, consider a purified fish oil supplement (purifying removes mercury). ? Take in lots of protein (from meat, eggs, tofu or legumes). Proteins provide an essential building block your body needs in order to grow. At least one (preferably two) of your meals each day should include a high quality protein. ? Up your zinc intake (oysters, chocolate, peanuts, eggs, peas, asparagus and supplements). A zinc deficiency can cause stunted growth in children . The best way to make sure you meet your body's daily need is by taking a vitamin or supplement that includes zinc. ? Eat on a regular schedule. You should be eating 3 meals a day, with small snacks between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and dinner. Try to schedule these events at roughly the same time each day.

Start walking minimum 45 minutes daily. Reduce your sweets, oily, fried foods, bakery products. Be consistent in your efforts. Success in weight loss is for sure.

Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

Hi lybrate-user, you can start loosing weight after 6 weeks post delivery, start with yoga initially, no crash diet while breastfeeding. Daily exercise for 30-40 minutes increase it gradually. Have diet rich in proteins, lots of salad, green vegetables. Avoid high carbohydrates like sweet, oily fatty food.

Hi lybrate-user starting eating more chapatis and rice with butter or ghee. Take creamed milk upto 500 ml daily and also eat milk products like cheese, khoa, etc. Also take dry fruits daily like 4 to 6 almonds or cashew nuts or some raisins. Eat fresh and high calorie fruits like apple, banana, etc. And vegetables like spinach, etc. You can also take fruit juices. If you eat non-veg then eat 2 or 3 pcs, of chicken or red meat daily. Take salad with your every main meal. Also do exercises daily as it increases your satiety.

I am a Type 1 Diabetic for the last 40 years and are insulin for last 38 years. I was injecting 80 units of Lantus Daily at 9 pm the last 12 years but now I am injecting 40 units of Lantus Insulin for the last 5. Years and got my Hb1ac tested last year in October and it was 6.7. Now I have come to know about Tresiba Insulin Kindly advise me that should I switch on to the new insulin Tresiba or remain on Lantus. I feel to mention here also that I had a first MI in 1989 and second attack in 2010. My Cholesterol level tested a month agao was 123 and LDL was 69. Hope your early advise.

Hi. You have described your case very well, thank you for that. As you have mentioned, your hba1c was very well controlled at 6.7 last year. You need to check in again now. If it again shows that your diabetes is very well controlled, then there is no such need of changing a very well suited insulin regiment and experiment with a newer one. Thank you. Take care.

Diet alone cannot get you noticeable results. -start with warm water with lemon and honey 8: 00 a. M. -do 7rounds (14) surya namaskar. 8: 30 a. M. -eat an apple (or another similar fruit) 9: 00 a. M. -have a light breakfast (poha/upma/idli/oats/porridge) -take a juice/lemon juice/green tea/black coffee with one light biscuit at 12: 00 -take lunch (you may have steam rice or chapati) with homemade dal and sabzi, with dahi or butter milk. (eat 20% less than your regular lunch portion) at 2: 00 p. M. -again take a healthy fruit at 4: 00 p. M. -take tea/coffee/milk with a light biscuit/chiwda/dry bhel/roasted namkeen/popcorn at 6: 00p. M. -have an early dinner, take khichdi or soup with a slice of wheat bread. Eat as much as you need, not less, not more. -do not have anything after dinner. You may have green tea or milk before bedtime. Timings can be adjusted with your schedule, little here and there, dinner should be around 8: 00.

Hi, lybrate-user I can understand that weight gain is a big problem now a day but surgical is not the solution ,he can manage his weight by taking diet plan and supplements. The main reason behind weight gain is eating more of the processed food, less of exercise and drinking less water. You observe the habit of him, you will find that these three reasons. Hence to lose weight cutting on processed food, sugary food, drinking 3-4 liter of water daily and exercise for min of 30 min per day is essential. Balanced food is the key to long term weight loss. I can suggest a diet plan and some dietary supplement for quick weight loss. I am suggesting a general diet and supplement for him. Sample Diet PlanBreakfast – green Juice.Lunch – vegetable pulao with pineapple fruits. Dinner – paneer with green salad. Snacks – 25g almonds with green tea. Suggested supplement Microfruit tab after breakfast Cytofresh tab after breakfast Lipolyzer tummy tab after lunch Lipolyzer hips and thigh tab after dinner.

At this age height growth is quite impossible.According to your height your weight should increase.Eat more food more frequently.Eat dense fruits and vegetables,unrefined foods more.Take more nuts and seeds.Add cream with tea/coffee.Take ghee,cream,cheese,butter with food.Add extra healthy fat in cooking.Drink lots of water but not during meals.Avoid smoking,alcohol.

Body weight of a person depend upon many things like genetics, diet, lifestyle etc. We can't change any genetic factor but we can change our life style to build muscles and increase weight. To gain weight naturally, a good balanced diet is required. Fruits, vegetables, proteins (cereals, grains, nonveg and egg are rich in protein), milk and yoghurt etc is required to be taken daily. Proteins will help in building muscle mass. The other thing you should do is exercise regularly like swimming, cycling or jogging. You can also join a gym as appetite increases after exercising. Exercise is of paramount importance because it releases endorphins from the body. This will increase your stamina also. Also sound sleep is required without any disturbance for 7-8 hours a day, as this increases the release of growth hormone and other enzymes to build your tissue. At your age the growth hormone mainly act in buliding mass so if you follow the above instruction your weight will increase at faster rate. I hope this information helps you. To look young you have to aim for spiritual. Mental. And physical wellness. Easiest thing first. 1. Laugh at least 50 times a day 2. Smile 50 times. 3. Watch less news 4. Watch more comedy serials. 5.Play with kids. Diet 1. Drink more water 2. Take two lemons daily. 3. 15 almonds 4. One Banana + apple 5. Spinach 6. Tomato & pumpkin soup 7. Cheese + paneer 8. Eggs & Fish. Exercise 30 mins daily. Walk in park or Yoga. Stay Cheerful. You will always look 18.
