Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need braces. You may consult me in person too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

Braces hatne ke teen saal bad bhi hum fixed retainer lagwa sakte hain kya? Please advice.

Braces hatne ke teen saal bad bhi hum fixed retainer lagwa sakte hain kya? Please advice.
Yes you can if you want, but there is no point getting fixed retainer after 3 years. Retainers should be placed immediately after completion of your treatment. It is to retain your teeth in the new position. If you get them after 6 moths also, there is no point. NOT ADVISABLE and NO POINT getting retainers after a lag period following your ortho treatment.

I have oral thrush. White patches in the mouth. What type of doctor I should meat ent or physician or dermatologist.
A primary-care provider (PCP) such as a family practitioner, internist may diagnose and treat oral thrush. Oral thrush may also be treated by a dentist. Severe infections usually require consultation with an immunologist and/or an infectious-disease specialist.

I am 72 years; post RT for tongue carcinoma-20 years ago; now ulcers in the right side of cheek and under tongue for 6 to 7 months. Biopsy reports normal. Dentist says that teeth are caries and no good blood supply; so teeth to be removed but with lot of care; before that lots of antibiotics like clindamycin and augmenting. How to proceed, who should address this problem-dentist, physician or oncologist,

I have got ulcers in the mouth. One on the underside of the tongue and other on the inner lining of the cheek. What are some home remedies, or medication if necessary? Also, what are the causes of ulcers in mouth?

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Pune
Dear Lybrate user, Mouth ulcers have multiple reasons. Most of the times the causes are related to stress, burns from hot foods, injury from ill fitting dentures, tooth brush trauma, braces, accidental biting, sharp tooth. Nutritional deficiencies can contribute to this. Certain medications including the common pain killer can result into Mouth ulcers In some cases underlying health conditions cause ulcers. Such as Viral infections, Gastrointestinal diseases, Immune deficiencies etc. When to visit your nearby dentist: Ulcers are taking longer time to heal, three weeks or more Ulcers are unusually larger in size Ulcers are spreading When associated with high grade fever When the pain is unbearable even after taking over the counter medicines, avoiding spicy foods When there is difficulty in drinking sufficient fluids.

There is no link between temperature drop and mouth ulcers so far. But stress, anxiety, altred blood composition, immunity is definitely linked to such ulcers. You can take symptomatic relief by topically applying Amlexanox and rexidine m forte gel alternatively, 3 times daily for half an hour. Even then if no improvement or recurrence occurs, go for laser ablation of these ulcers, the most advanced solution for such stubborn ulcers.
